Froakie -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Froakie BREAKthrough Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Froakie from the BREAKthrough set.  Froakie is a basic, water type Pokemon card with an HP of 50.  It has a x2 weakness to grass type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Froakie does not have an Ability and it only has one move.  The only move that this card has is called Pound, for one colorless energy card this move does 10 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Froakie is a basic Pokemon card with a Stage 1 evolution in Frogadier, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, and a Stage 2 evolution in Greninja, which is in the XY set, I will be reviewing this Froakie card as if I'd be using it on its own.  So looking at just this Froakie card, if it would have had 60 HP instead of 50, I would have been okay with using this card in a deck, however because it has a below average HP I cannot recommend using this card in a deck on its own.  Other than the low HP, this card can attack quickly and requires one energy card of any type, so it fits in all decks.  So if you really like Froakie you could definitely try and get this card into the active Pokemon spot to start the game, use Pound a couple of times then retreat it, but I would not recommend using it.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a below average Basic Pokemon card from the BREAKthrough set.  Not only is this card extremely limited in what it can do, having only one move and no Ability but its HP is pretty low making this card unusable on its own.  So if you're building a water type deck, look elsewhere for a Basic Pokemon to use.

Tomorrow's Pokemon Card:

Vanilluxe -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Vanilluxe BREAKthrough Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Vanilluxe from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Set.  Vanilluxe is a stage 2, water type Pokemon card, with an hp of 130.  It has a x2 weakness to metal type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Vanilluxe does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Frigid Breath, for two energy cards, one each of water and colorless, this move does 30 damage, plus it makes it so that neither player can use any Supporter or Stadium cards until the end of your next turn.  Deep Freeze is Vanilluxe's second move and for three energy cards, two colorless and one water, this move does 70 damage, plus it paralyzes the defending Pokemon if you get a heads when flipping a coin or confuses it if you get a tails when flipping a coin.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Vanilluxe is a stage 2 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Vanillite into play and then evolve it into Vanillish before you can evolve Vanillish into Vanilluxe, both of those Pokemon are from this set and I've reviewed both of them the last two days.  If you've read my reviews of those cards you'll know that I thought both Vanillite and Vanillish were below average Basic Pokemon cards, both were decent move wise, but both had really low HP and would be an easy knockout later in games.  So knowing this about the first two Pokemon in this line and looking at this Vanilluxe card, on its own, this isn't a bad card, both of its moves are usable, with how heavily Supporter cards are used in the metagame, Frigid Breath may really ruin your opponent's strategy, and Deep Freeze not only does above average damage but inflicts a special condition as well.  The only downside on this card is that it is a Stage 2 Pokemon card so it is slow to set up and neither of the forms before Vanilluxe are very good.  So unless you really like Vanilluxe, I would probably look elsewhere when building a water type deck, at most I would use a 1-1-1 line of this family.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an average to slightly above average Stage 2 Pokemon card from the BREAKthrough set.  There is really nothing that I dislike on this card, both moves do above average damage or at least do more than just attack, both moves are fairly quick, and unlike Vanillite and Vanillish, this card has a good HP.  However, because the two Pokemon I just mentioned are below average, I can't give this entire line more than a 2 out of 5 rating, it is best not to include this line in a deck.

Tomorrow's Pokemon Card:
So thanks for reading today's Pokemon card review of Vanilluxe from the BREAKthrough set, stay tuned for tomorrow's card review of Froakie, which is from this same set.  Make sure to check below for the Free Pokemon TCG Online Codes!

Vanillish -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Vanillish BREAKthrough Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Vanillish from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card set.  Vanillish is a stage 1, water type Pokemon card, with an hp of 70.  It has a x2 weakness to metal type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Vanillish does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Ice Edge, for one water energy card this move does 10 damage plus 30 more damage if you get a heads when flipping a coin.  Vanillish's second move is called Icy Wind and for two water energy cards this move does 30 damage, plus it puts the defending Pokemon to sleep.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Vanillish is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Vanillite into play (I reviewed Vanillite from this set yesterday) and then evolve Vanillite into Vanillish.  Vanillish does have a Stage 2 evolution in Vanilluxe, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, that you'll probably want to use with this Pokemon line but since I haven't reviewed that card yet, the strategy below will act like Vanillish is the final evolution in this line.  So if you read my review of Vanillite, you'll know that I thought that card was a below average Basic Pokemon card, it did have two moves and could do up to 20 damage a turn, but the card itself had a low HP and it required two energy cards to do damage.  So knowing this about Vanillite and looking at this Vanillish card, this card is similar in that it does a fair amount of damage but it has a low HP.  So unless you don't mind having two cards in your deck with low HP, I would not use this line in a deck.  However, just like Vanillite, if you are going to use this entire line, Vanillish wouldn't be terrible to have in the active Pokemon spot since it can attack quickly and potentially put the defending Pokemon to sleep.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is a below average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the BREAKthrough set, one that would be average if it had 90 HP instead of only 70 since this card does have two good moves and both moves not only do a fair amount of damage but are quick to use.  Together, Vanillite and Vanillish from this set get a 2 out of 5 rating from me.

Tomorrow's Pokemon Card:
So thanks for reading today's Pokemon card review of Vanillish from the BREAKthrough set, stay tuned for tomorrow's card review of Vanillish's Stage 2 evolution in Vanilluxe, which is from this same set.  Make sure to check below for the Free Pokemon TCG Online Codes!

Vanillite -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Vanillite BREAKthrough Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Vanillite from the BREAKthrough set.  Vanillite is a basic, water type Pokemon card with an HP of 50.  It has a x2 weakness to metal type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Vanillite does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Stiffen, for one water energy card this move reduces any damage done to Vanillite during your opponent's next turn by 20.  Vanillite's second move is called Icy Snow, for two energy cards, one each of water and colorless, this move does 20 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Vanillite is a basic Pokemon card with a Stage 1 evolution in Vanillish, and a Stage 2 evolution in Vanilluxe, which I'll be reviewing the next few days, you'll more than likely want to use some of those Pokemon with this card, however, since I have not reviewed any of those cards yet, I will just act like Vanillite does not have any evolution forms and that it will be used on its own.  On its own, I probably wouldn't use this card in a deck mainly because it has a lower HP than I'd like.  Adding to the low HP is the fact it requires two energy cards to do any damage, however if you're using this card with Vanillish, it would be okay to put this card into the active Pokemon spot to start the game because you can use Stiffen the first turn and prevent your opponent from doing any damage.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a slightly below average Basic Pokemon card from the BREAKthrough set.  Like I said above, if this card would have had an HP of 60, I would have gave it an average rating, but because this card is slow on the attack and has a low HP, that combo makes this card below average.  So if you're building a water type deck, this card should be considered but there is no reason to for sure use it.

Tomorrow's Pokemon Card:
So thanks for reading today's Pokemon card review of Vanillite from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card set, stay tuned for tomorrow's card review of Vanillite's stage 1 evolution in Vanillish, which is also from this same set.  Make sure to check below for the Free Pokemon TCG Online Codes!

Simipour -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Simipour BREAKthrough Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Simipour from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Set.  Simipour is a stage 1, water type Pokemon card, with an hp of 90. It has a x2 weakness to grass type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Simipour does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Green Fling, for one colorless energy card this move allows you to put three grass energy cards from your discard pile into your hand.  Simipour's second move is called Hand Fling, for two colorless energy cards this move does 10 damage times the number of cards in your hand.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Simipour is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Panpour into play (I reviewed Panpour from this set yesterday) and then evolve Panpour into Simipour.  If you read yesterday's review of Panpour, you'll know that I thought that card was a below average Basic Pokemon card, it had a good HP, low retreat cost, and could potentially do above average damage every turn, but the main reason I didn't like that card was because its only move was based on a coin flip which means it may end up doing zero damage every single turn.  So knowing this about Panpour and looking at Simipour, the first thing you'll notice is that Simipour would do best in a grass type deck since you can then utilize Green Fling and move energy cards from your discard pile to your hand.  Hand Fling is a decent move but one that would work better if you first use Green Fling to get more cards into your hand.  I would also make sure to include plenty of Trainer cards in your deck that gets cards into your hand.  So I could see using a 1-1 line of this Pokemon family if you're building a grass type deck since this line doesn't need to be used with a water type deck since both Panpour and Simipour require only colorless energy cards to attack.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an average Stage 1 Pokemon card, it has an average HP, low retreat cost, and two solid moves, boosted if in a grass type deck.  Overall, like I said above, if you're building a grass type deck, this card should be a staple.  I would give Panpour and Simipour combined a 3 out of 5 rating.

Panpour -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Panpour BREAKthrough Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Panpour from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Set.  Panpour is a basic, water type Pokemon card with an hp of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to grass type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost. Panpour does not have an Ability and it only has one move.  The only move that this card has is called Fury Swipes, for one colorless energy card this move does 10 damage times the number of heads you get when flipping 3 coins.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Panpour is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Simipour, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution.  So, on its own, I would not recommend using this card in a deck, the main reason being that this card's only move is based off of coin flips, so it could end up doing zero damage every single turn.  However, if you're using this card with Simipour, it may be alright to try and use Fury Swipes one turn, hoping to do more than 10 damage and then evolving Panpour into Simipour the next turn.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Simipour, this is a below average Basic Pokemon card.  This card is pretty decent overall but because this card is limited in what it can do having only one move and that one move being based off of coin flips, I have to give this card a below average rating.  Other than that, this card has an average HP, and a low retreat cost.

Tomorrow's Pokemon Card:

Abomasnow -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Abomasnow BREAKthrough Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Abomasnow from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Set.  Abomasnow is a stage 1, water type Pokemon card, with an hp of 130.  It has a x2 weakness to metal type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a four colorless energy card retreat cost.  Abomasnow does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Ice Age, for three energy cards, two colorless and one water, this move does 80 damage, plus if your opponent's active Pokemon is a dragon type Pokemon, that Pokemon is paralyzed.  Abomasnow's second move is called Frost Breath, for four energy cards, two each of water and colorless, this move does 110 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Abomasnow is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Snover into play (I reviewed Snover from this set yesterday) and then evolve Snover into Abomasnow.  If you read yesterday's review of Snover, you'll know that I thought that card was a below average Basic Pokemon card, it had a good HP and had two moves, but neither move it has was that good and its retreat cost was really high for a Basic Pokemon with a retreat cost of 3 colorless energy cards.  So knowing this about Snover and looking at this Abomasnow card since Snover isn't that good and Abomasnow requires quite a few energy cards to use, it would be best to only use a 1-1 line of this Pokemon family in a deck and set it up on the bench.  You can get three energy cards on Abomasnow on the bench and keep it there to prevent your opponent from using a dragon type Pokemon in their active Pokemon spot, because if they do move one there you can then move Abomasnow into the active Pokemon spot and use Ice Age every turn.  Otherwise, if your opponent doesn't have any dragon type Pokemon in there deck, you can mainly use Frost Breath and do major damage every single turn.  Just like Snover, this card has a really high retreat cost so it would be best to figure out a way to retreat this card for free, whether that be a Switch trainer card or some other way.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an above average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the BREAKthrough set.  This card is really slow on the attack and has a high retreat cost, but both of its moves are very good and this card can do major damage in a water type deck.  Together with Snover from this set, I would give both Pokemon a 3 out of 5 rating.

Snover -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Snover BREAKthrough Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Snover from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Set.  Snover is a basic, water type Pokemon card with an hp of 80.  It has a x2 weakness to metal type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a three colorless energy card retreat cost. Snover does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  Snover's first move is called Powder Snow, for one water energy card this move puts the defending Pokemon to sleep.  Snover's second move is called Double Smash, for three energy cards, two colorless and one water, this move does 30 damage times the number of heads you get when you flip two coins.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Snover is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Abomasnow, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution.  So, on its own, I wouldn't recommend using this card in a deck, mainly because it has such a high retreat cost.  If Snover's retreat cost was lower, you could use Snover to start the game, put the defending Pokemon to sleep using Powder Snow and then retreat it the next turn.  Double Smash at its best can do average damage and I don't want to waste three energy cards on a Basic Pokemon that still needs to evolve.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Abomasnow, this is a below average Basic Pokemon card.  This card does have some positives on it, like its high HP and the fact it has two moves, however neither move that this card has is that great, add in a high retreat cost, and this card is definitely not usable on its own, and is one I would stay away from without Abomasnow.

Empoleon -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Empoleon BREAKthrough Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Empoleon from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Set.  Empoleon is a stage 2, water type Pokemon card, with an hp of 140.  It has a x2 weakness to grass type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Empoleon's Ability is called Dignified Fighter and says that each of your Basic Pokemon's attacks does 20 more damage to your opponent's Active Pokemon.  Besides the Ability, Empoleon just has one move called Hydro Splash, this move requires two energy cards to use, one each of water and colorless, and does 70 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Empoleon is a stage 2 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Piplup into play and then evolve it into Prinplup before you can evolve Prinplup into Empoleon, both of those Pokemon are from this set and I've reviewed both of them the last two days.  If you've read my reviews of those cards you'll know that I thought Piplup was an average Basic Pokemon card, it was a bit slow on the attack but could do above average damage, however Prinplup was below average, having a low HP and could only do equal amount of damage as Piplup.  So knowing this about the first two Pokemon in this line and looking at this Empoleon card, the first thing you'll want to use Empoleon in a deck for is its Ability, if you have lots of Basic Pokemon in your deck, you can just use a 1-1-1 line of this Pokemon family and keep Empoleon on the bench and increasing all of your Basic Pokemon's attacks by 20.  If you want to use this card more for attacking, being able to do 70 damage for two energy cards is very good, and I would probably up the amount of cards you have in this family to a 2-1-1 line or more.  So overall, if you're building a water type deck, this family is a great one to have in your deck, not only does this Pokemon family, ending with Empoleon, able to do major damage a turn, but it can also increase the attacks of your own Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 5 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is a very good Stage 2 Pokemon card from the BREAKthrough set.  Other than the fact it is a Stage 2 card which requires time to set up, this card is very good.  It has an excellent Ability which makes it possible to just use Empoleon on the bench and its only move is also very good, doing above average damage for only two energy cards.  So altogether, I would give the line of Piplup, Prinplup, and Empoleon from the BREAKthrough set a 4 out of 5 rating, it is definitely one you want to consider when building a water type deck.

Tomorrow's Pokemon Card:

Prinplup -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Prinplup BREAKthrough Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Prinplup from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card set.  Prinplup is a stage 1, water type Pokemon card, with an hp of 80.  It has a x2 weakness to grass type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Prinplup does not have an Ability and it only has one move.  The only move that this card has is called Ice Beam, for two energy cards, one each of water and colorless, this move does 30 damage, plus it paralyzes the defending Pokemon if you get a heads when flipping a coin.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Prinplup is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Piplup into play (I reviewed Piplup from this set yesterday) and then evolve Piplup into Prinplup.  Prinplup does have a Stage 2 evolution in Empoleon, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, that you'll probably want to use with this Pokemon line but since I haven't reviewed that card yet, the strategy below will act like Prinplup is the final evolution in this line.  So if you read my review of Piplup, you'll know that I thought that card was an average Basic Pokemon card, it had a solid HP, low retreat cost, and even though it only had one move and this move required two energy cards to use, the move did above average damage and I thought the card could hold its own if used by itself.  So knowing this about Piplup and looking at this Prinplup card, this card can do pretty much the same amount of damage as Piplup for the same amount of energy, but this card just has a higher HP and can paralyze the defending Pokemon too.  So if you are for sure using Piplup in your deck, it may make sense to use one of these Prinplup cards just to strengthen this Pokemon line and be able to use it later in the game.  Just looking at Prinplup on its own, I am not a huge fan of this card because it has a below average HP, and only one move that does the same amount of damage as a Basic Pokemon card.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is a slightly below average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the BREAKthrough set.  Outside of having a low HP and only one move, this card is good in that it has a low retreat cost and can do an average amount of damage for the move it has.  So pairing this card with the Piplup card from this set, I would give both cards a combined rating of 3 out of 5.

Tomorrow's Pokemon Card:

Piplup -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Piplup BREAKthrough
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Piplup from the BREAKthrough set.  Piplup is a basic, water type Pokemon card with an HP of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to grass type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Piplup does not have an Ability and it only has one move.  The only move that this card has is called Wave Splash and for two energy cards, one each of water and colorless, this move does 30 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Piplup is a basic Pokemon card with a Stage 1 evolution in Prinplup, and a Stage 2 evolution in Empoleon, which I'll be reviewing the next few days, you'll more than likely want to use some of those Pokemon with this card, however, since I have not reviewed any of those cards yet, I will just act like Piplup does not have any evolution forms and that it will be used on its own.  On its own, even though this card is a bit slower on the attack, requiring two energy cards, I still think this card could be used as a starter type Pokemon in a deck, mainly because Wave Splash does do above average damage and can knock out most Basic/Starter type Pokemon in two turns.  So if you're building a water type deck, I would consider this card for your deck, but I would only use 1 or 2 if you want to use Piplup at all.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average Basic Pokemon card from the BREAKthrough set.  Other than not being able to attack for one energy card, this card is pretty average overall, it has an average HP, low retreat cost, and one move, albeit a little slower, but one that does a good amount of damage.  So you can't go wrong with using this card in your deck or leaving it out.

M Glalie EX -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

M Glalie EX BREAKthrough
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of M Glalie EX from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Set.  M Glalie EX is a Mega Evolution, EX, water type Pokemon card with an hp of 220. It has a x2 weakness to metal type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a three colorless energy card retreat cost.  M Glalie does not have an Ability or an Ancient Trait and it only has one move.  The only move that this card has is called Cryo Mouth, for three energy cards, two colorless and one water, and does 100 plus 150 more damage if M Glalie EX has more than 10 damage counters on it.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
Before I start with the strategy, remember that this card is a Mega Evolution card and an EX card so if you use this card in your deck and it gets knocked out, your opponent gets to take two prize cards instead of one and when you evolve an EX card into its Mega Evolution, your turn ends, you cannot do anything else.  So knowing these things, you'll always want to use Mega Evolution cards with caution, with that being said, you'll always want to use the appropriate Spirit Link trainer card do evolve the EX card into its Mega EX form so you don't have to end your turn.  Knowing that Glalie EX from this set is very poor, I would highly recommend setting this card up on the bench and potentially using Pokemon in your deck that attack your own benched Pokemon as well as the opponent's, that way you can move M Glalie EX into the active Pokemon spot and do 250 damage a turn right away and knock out pretty much every Pokemon in one turn.  Of course, doing 100 damage a turn for only three energy cards is a pretty good move too, so you could just always go that route and do 100 damage a turn until M Glalie gets enough damage on it then do 250 damage a turn.  Because M Glalie requires so much damage on it to do major damage, I would only use a 1-1 line in a deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a very good Mega EX Pokemon card from the BREAKthrough set.  I really like that this card has a good chance at doing 250 damage a turn every single turn, plus if it can't do that it can still do 100 damage a turn.  So if you're building a water type deck and looking for some major power, I would definitely recommend using this Pokemon line in that deck, giving both a combined 3 out of 5 rating.

Glalie EX -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Glalie EX BREAKthrough Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Glalie EX and Glalie EX Full Art from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Set.  Glalie EX is a basic, EX, water type Pokemon card with an hp of 170. It has a x2 weakness to metal type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a three colorless energy card retreat cost.  Glalie EX does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Ice Breath, for one water energy card this move paralyzes the defending Pokemon if you get a heads when flipping a coin.  Glalie's second move is called Instant Freeze, for three energy cards, two colorless and one water, this move does 50 damage plus 100 more damage if you have the same amount of cards in your hand as your opponent.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, because Glalie EX is a basic Pokemon card you won't need to use any other cards with this card.  But remember, because this card is an EX card, if this card is knocked out, two prize cards are taken instead of one.  However, Glalie does have a mega evolution you could use from this set and I will be reviewing that card tomorrow, so this strategy below will act like Glalie EX does not have an evolution.  So knowing this, on its own, there is absolutely no reason at all to use this Glalie EX cards on its own in a deck.  This card wouldn't even be good if it wasn't an EX card, Ice Breath is a very poor move and is sometimes seen as an addition to a move that does damage, and Instant Freeze is very poor too unless you can match the amount of cards in your opponent's hand, and it would be a pain to do this every turn, so being able to do 50 damage a turn for three energy cards on an EX card, is pretty horrid.  So overall, there really isn't any strategy to talk about on this card except for not using it on its own and if you plan on using this card with M Glalie EX, keep it on the bench.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 1 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a very poor EX Pokemon card from the BREAKthrough set.  There is really nothing that I like about this card, it has a lower HP, and two pretty bad moves, making this card unusable in the TCG.  Stay away from this card if you can.  It sure is disappointing the past two EX cards from this set that I've reviewed are quite poor.

Tomorrow's Pokemon Card:

Octillery -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Octillery BREAKthrough Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Octillery from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Set.  Octillery is a stage 1, water type Pokemon card, with an hp of 90.  It has a x2 weakness to grass type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Octillery does have an Ability which is called Abyssal Hand and says that once per turn you may draw cards until you have 5 cards in your hand.  Octillery's second move is called Hug, for three energy cards, two water and one colorless, this move does 40 damage, plus it makes the defending Pokemon unable to retreat during their next turn.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Octillery is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Remoraid into play, there are two Remoraid cards in this set and I've reviewed both the past couple of days, and then evolve Remoraid into Octillery.  If you've read my reviews of the Remoraid cards from this set, I thought both cards were slightly below average, both having pretty much identical stats and moves, but both slow on the attack requiring two energy cards to do 20 damage.  So knowing this about the two Remoraid cards in this set and looking at this Octillery card, the main reason you would want to play this card in a deck is for its Ability.  Because of this, there is no reason to use more than a 1-1 line of this Pokemon family and no reason to ever move this line to the active Pokemon spot as both Remoraid's and Octillery's moves are underpowered.  Basically this card is used as a draw mechanism for your deck, always ensuring you have 5 cards in your hand.  So just keep this card on the bench and if your hand gets low use Octillery's Ability.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an above average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the BREAKthrough set based solely on its Ability.  Other than its Ability, this card isn't that great with only one move that is slow and doesn't do much damage, so if you don't plan on using Octillery's Ability, don't use this card in a deck.  Together with Remoraid from this set, I can only give this line a 3 out of 5 rating, this line isn't anything to write home about.

Remoraid 32/162 -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Remoraid BREAKthrough Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Remoraid from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Set.  This is the second of the two Remoraid cards from this set that I've reviewed.  Remoraid is a basic, water type Pokemon card with an hp of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to grass type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost. This card does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Ion Pool, for one colorless energy card this move allows you to discard any Stadium card in play.  Remoraid's second move is called Water Gun, for two energy cards, one each of water and colorless, this move does 20 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Remoraid is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Octillery, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, I will consider Remoraid by itself, but I will compare both Remoraid cards later in this post.  This Remoraid card is very similar to yesterday's card, the only difference being its first move which on this card discards a Stadium card whereas yesterday's card retreats for free with its move requiring one energy card.  Just like yesterday, this card doesn't warrant use on its own considering it requires two energy cards to attack, but if I had to use one of the two Remoraid cards in a deck, I would use this one since Ion Pool actually affects the defending Pokemon whereas yesterday's move doesn't do anything to the defending Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Octillery, this is a below average Basic Pokemon card.  This card is average overall having a solid HP, low retreat cost, and one good move, but this card is slow overall and can't do much with its first move.  So considering both Remoraid cards from this set it is basically a toss up on which one to use, neither are great, it just depends on which first move you prefer most.

Tomorrow's Pokemon Card:
So thanks for reading today's Pokemon card review of Remoraid from the BREAKthrough set, stay tuned for tomorrow's card review of Remoraid's Stage 1 evoluion in Octillery, which is from this same set.  Make sure to check below for the Free Pokemon TCG Online Codes!

Remoraid 31/162 -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Remoraid BREAKthrough Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Remoraid from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Set.  This is the first of two consecutive Remoraid cards I'll be reviewing from this set.  Remoraid is a basic, water type Pokemon card with an hp of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to grass type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost. This card does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Wild River, for one colorless energy card this move allows you to switch Remoraid with one of your benched Pokemon.  Remoraid's second move is called Water Gun, for two energy cards, one each of water and colorless, this move does 20 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Remoraid is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Octillery, which I'll be reviewing in two days, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, and haven't reviewed the other remoraid card from this set, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution and do not know which Remoraid card is better.  So, on its own, I wouldn't recommend using this card in a deck, the main reason being that it can't attack for only one energy card.  If you plan on using Octillery in your deck, it may be acceptable to put this card into the active Pokemon spot and not attack right away then evolve it into Octillery, but on its own, you don't want to do that.  Wild River doesn't do much for me either, I would much rather discard an energy card to retreat or use a Switch trainer than to use a turn just to switch a Pokemon instead of attacking the defending Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Octillery, this is a below average Basic Pokemon card.  This card is average overall having a solid HP, low retreat cost, and one good move, but this card is slow overall which brings my rating down to a 2 and makes me not want to use this card in a deck, especially on its own.

Tomorrow's Pokemon Card:
So thanks for reading today's Pokemon card review of Remoraid from the BREAKthrough set, stay tuned for tomorrow's card review of the second Remoraid card, which is from this same set.  Make sure to check below for the Free Pokemon TCG Online Codes!

Starmie -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Starmie BREAKthrough Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Starmie from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Set.  Starmie is a stage 1, water type Pokemon card, with an hp of 90.  It has a x2 weakness to grass type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  This Starmie card does not have an Ancient Trait or an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Deep Sea Swirl, for one water energy card this move allows you to shuffle your hand into your deck and draw 7 cards.  Starmie's second move is called Balance Blind and for two energy cards, one each of water and colorless, does 30 damage, plus this move paralyzes the defending Pokemon if you and your opponent have the same number of benched Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Starmie is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Staryu into play (I reviewed Staryu from this set yesterday) and then evolve Staryu into Starmie.  If you read yesterday's review of Staryu, you'll know that I thought that card was a slightly below average Basic Pokemon card, it was pretty average overall but it did only have one move and that one move was based off of a coin flip, meaning it may end up doing no damage at all every single turn.  So knowing this about Staryu and looking at this Starmie card, the main reason you'll want to use this line in a deck is for Starmie's Deep Sea Swirl move giving your deck a pretty good draw mechanism.  You can replenish your hand and not only get different cards in your hand, but also add cards to it if you only had a few cards in your hand before shuffling.  Outside of Deep Sea Swirl, Balance Bind is a pretty average move that can definitely be used since it only requires two energy cards to use but again, you'll want to stick to Deep Sea Swirl.  Because Starmie isn't overpowering by any means, in a water type deck, you'll only want to use a 1-1 line of these two Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an average to slightly above average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the BREAKthrough set.  If you're looking for a good draw mechanism card for your deck, Starmie definitely fits that bill.  Together with Staryu from this set I would give the two cards a 3 out of 5 rating, this line is definitely worth consideration in decks.

Staryu -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Staryu BREAKthrough Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Staryu from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Set.  Staryu is a basic, water type Pokemon card with an hp of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to grass type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost. Staryu does not have an Ancient Trait or Ability and it only has one move.  The only move that this card has is called Continuous Spin, this move requires one colorless energy card to use and does 10 damage times the number of heads you get when you flip a coin until you get a tails.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Staryu is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Starmie, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution.  So, on its own, I probably wouldn't use this card on its own, mainly because the only move that this card has is based on a coin flip meaning the move could do zero damage every single time.  If you know you're going to use Starmie with this card, Staryu wouldn't be that bad since you may have to use this card for just one turn in active Pokemon spot or not use it at all.  All I can say, is if you want to use this card in your deck, attack a Trick Coin trainer to it so you have better odds of doing damage with Continuous Spin.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Starmie, this is a below average Basic Pokemon card.  This card is fairly solid overall, having an average HP, low retreat cost, and a move that only takes one energy card to use.  But the main knock on this card is that it is coin flip based meaning it may not do damage at all, so use this card with caution.

Tomorrow's Pokemon Card:

Seaking -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Seaking BREAKthrough Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Seaking from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Set.  Seaking is a stage 1, water type Pokemon card, with an hp of 90.  It has a x2 weakness to grass type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  This Seaking card does not have an Ancient Trait or an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Soaking Horn, for one water energy card this move does 10 damage plus 80 more damage if Seaking was healed during this turn.  Seaking's next move is called Reckless Charge, for one colorless energy card this move does 40 damage, however it does do 10 damage to itself.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Seaking is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Goldeen into play (I reviewed Goldeen from this set yesterday) and then evolve Goldeen into Seaking.  If you read yesterday's review of Goldeen, you'll know that I thought that card was a slightly below average Basic Pokemon card, it had a good HP and could do 20 damage a turn, however it also did 10 damage to itself each turn, meaning its HP really isn't that good and especially later in games this card will get knocked out pretty fast.  So knowing this about Goldeen and looking at this Seaking card, the first type of strategy that jumps out at me with this card is to evolve this line on the bench and use a card in your deck that does damage to all Pokemon in play or your benched Pokemon, that way Seaking is going to have damage on it when you move it to the active Pokemon spot and you can use a Potion card to heal it and do 90 damage a turn when using Soaking Horn.  Of course you could also alternate between Reckless Charge and Soaking Horn and do 65 damage a turn on average.  But overall, you really can't beat doing this much damage every turn for only one energy card, so I would highly recommend using this line in a water type deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an above average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the BREAKthrough set.  This card really doesn't have any negatives about it, it has a solid HP, low retreat cost, and two great moves that work very well together and do a good amount of damage.  Like I said above, I would definitely recommend using this line in a water type deck, and would give the two cards combined a 4 out of 5 rating.

Goldeen -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Goldeen BREAKthrough Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Goldeen from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Set.  Goldeen is a basic, water type Pokemon card with an hp of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to grass type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost. Goldeen does not have an Ancient Trait or Ability and it only has one move.  The only move that this card has is called Reckless Charge, for one colorless energy card this move does 20 damage, however when using this move it also does 10 damage to itself.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Goldeen is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Seaking, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution.  So, on its own, even though this card can do 20 damage a turn for only one energy card, I cannot recommend using this card, mainly because it does damage to itself every turn which makes Goldeen's average HP seem well below average.  If you were using this card with Seaking, it may be okay to use Reckless Charge one turn, do 10 damage to Goldeen and then evolve Goldeen into Seaking which increases the HP and minimizes the 10 damage.  So just viewing this card on its own, do not use this card in a deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Seaking, this is a below average Basic Pokemon card.  This card does have some positives on it, like its average HP, low retreat cost, and the amount of damage it can do each turn, but this card is limited overall only having one move and does damage to itself when attacking which makes it below average overall.

Braixen -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Braixen BREAKthrough Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Braixen from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card set.  Braixen is a stage 1, fire type Pokemon card, with an hp of 80.  It has a x2 weakness to water type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Braixen does not have an Ability or an Ancient Trait and it only has one move.  The only move that this card has is called Flamethrower, for three energy cards, two colorless and one fire, this move does 70 damage however you must discard an energy card attached to Braixen after using.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Braixen is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Fennekin into play (I reviewed Fennekin from this set yesterday) and then evolve Fennekin into Braixen.  Braixen does have a Stage 2 evolution in Delphox, however there is not a Delphox in this set, you'll have to use the one from the XY set that I've reviewed previously on my blog.  The strategy now will only consider the first two cards in this line.  If you read my review of Fennekin you'll know that I thought it was a below average Basic Pokemon card, the card actually could do a fair amount of damage for two energy cards, but the move was based off of a coin flip and Fennekin had a low HP.  So knowing this about Fennekin and looking at this Braixen card, I cannot recommend using either card in a deck, the main reason being both Pokemon have below average HP and both cards are slow on the attack.  Flamethrower does do above average damage but you're either going to have to use Burning Energy with Braixen to prevent discarding or have to add energy cards to Braixen each turn.  So I cannot recommend using this line in a deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is a below average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the BREAKthrough set.  Besides having a move that does slightly above average damage, this card really isn't that great, it has a low HP, and only one move that is slow on the attack.  There are much better lines out there to use in a fire type deck and I can only give these two Pokemon, Fennekin and Braixen a 2 out of 5 rating.

Fennekin -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Fennekin BREAKthrough Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Fennekin from the BREAKthrough set.  Fennekin is a basic, fire type Pokemon card with an HP of 50.  It has a x2 weakness to water type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Fennekin does not have an Ability or an Ancient Trait and only has one move.  The only move that this card has is called Firebreathing, for two energy cards, one each of fire and colorless, this move does 10 damage plus 30 more damage if you get a heads when flipping a coin.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Fennekin is a basic Pokemon card with a Stage 1 evolution in Braixen, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, and a Stage 2 evolution in Delphox, which is in the XY set, I will be reviewing this Fennekin card as if I'd be using it on its own.  So looking at just this Fennekin card, I wouldn't recommend using it.  The main reason I say this is because Fennekin can't attack for one energy card plus it has a lower HP.  The one move that Fennekin does have can do above average damage if you flip a heads but otherwise the card is very poor overall.  So unless you're using this card with Braixen, do not use this card in a deck, it is too slow, and too underpowered to recommend use.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a below average Basic Pokemon card from the BREAKthrough set.  The only thing I like about this card is that it has the potential to do 40 damage per turn for two energy cards, but other than that, this card is very poor and underpowered if you don't get a heads when using Firebreathing.  Look elsewhere for Basic Pokemon to use in a fire type deck.

Simisear -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Simisear BREAKthrough Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Simisear from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Set.  Simisear is a stage 1, fire type Pokemon card, with an hp of 90.  It has a x2 weakness to water type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  This Simisear card does not have an Ancient Trait or an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Water Fling, for one colorless energy card this move allows you to move 3 water energy cards from your discard pile into your hand.  Simisear's second move is called Hand Fling and for two colorless energy cards this move does 10 damage times the number of cards in your hand.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Simisear is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Pansear into play (I reviewed Pansear from this set yesterday) and then evolve Pansear into Simisear.  If you read yesterday's review of Pansear, you'll know that I thought that card was a below average Basic Pokemon card and one that shouldn't be used on its own, mainly because the only move it had was based off of coin flips, other than that it was good in that it had an average HP, low retreat cost, and could do up to 30 damage per turn.  So knowing this about Pansear and looking at this Simisear card, the first thing I want to point out for both cards is that neither require fire energy cards to attack so this line could ideally be played in a water type deck and then give your deck some variation on the Pokemon you're weak to.  I wouldn't use these two cards in a fire type deck, but in a water type deck so that you can utilize Simisear's Water Fling move.  I could see myself using a 1-1 line of these two Pokemon in a water type deck, more than likely evolving this line on the bench, then waiting until there are several water energy cards in the discard pile before putting Simisear into the active Pokemon spot, then using Water Fling the first turn and Hand Fling the second.  Water Fling makes Hand Fling do 30 more damage the first turn, but also look at adding Trainer cards into your deck that allows you to draw cards from your deck, thus giving Hand Fling more power.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an above average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the BREAKthrough set.  This card is just very good overall, having a low retreat cost, average HP, and two good moves, one that greatly helps out your water type Pokemon by making sure you can attach a water type energy each turn, and the second move allowing you to do a good amount of damage the more cards you have in your hand.  I would give this line a 3 out of 5 rating, no complaints from me on this line and this is a line that should be considered when building water type decks.

Pansear -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Pansear BREAKthrough Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Pansear from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Set.  Pansear is a basic, fire type Pokemon card with an hp of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to water type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost. Pansear does not have an Ancient Trait or Ability and it only has one move.  The only move that this card has is called Fury Swipes, for one colorless energy card this move does 10 damage times the number of heads you get when you flip 3 coins.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Pansear is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Simisear, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution.  So, on its own, I cannot recommend using this card in a deck, I say this because with Pansear only having one move, you want to be able to do damage every single turn, and since Fury Swipes is based off of coin flips, you may end up doing zero damage every single turn.  So on its own I would not recommend using Pansear in a deck, however if you know you're going to evolve it into Simisear quite quickly, it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to have to use Fury Swipes one turn and then evolve it the next.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Simisear, this is a below average Basic Pokemon card.  The main reason for this rating is because of its one move depending on coin flips, otherwise this card has a low retreat cost, average HP, and the potential to do a fair amount of damage every turn.

M Houndoom EX -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

M Houndoom EX BREAKthrough Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of M Houndoom EX from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Set.  M Houndoom  EX is a Mega Evolution, EX, fire type Pokemon card with an hp of 210. It has a x2 weakness to water type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  M Houndoom does not have an Ability or an Ancient Trait and it only has one move.  The only move that this card has is called Inferno Fang and for two fire energy cards this move does 80 damage plus 80 more damage if you choose to discard all fire energy attached to this card.

Knowing that Houndoom EX from this set is very poor, I would highly recommend setting this card up on the bench and using only Burning Energy cards with this card, that way, you can do 160 damage a turn for only two energy cards every single turn and not have to discard any energy because Burning Energy cards can be reattached immediately when discarding.  So I would recommend using a 1-1 line of these two Pokemon in a fire type deck and having this Mega Houndoom card be one of your main attackers.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 5 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a very powerful Mega EX Pokemon card from the BREAKthrough set.  Even though this card is really limited in what it can do, only having one move, this card is very quick to attack, can do 160 damage every single turn and has a low retreat cost, so it would be a great addition to any fire type deck out there.  Together with Houndoom EX from this set, which I gave a 1 rating, I will give these two cards a 4 out of 5 rating, this line is definitely recommended.

Houndoom EX -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Houndoom BREAKthrough Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Houndoom EX and Houndoom EX Full Art from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Set.  Houndoom EX is a basic, EX, fire type Pokemon card with an hp of 170. It has a x2 weakness to water type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Houndoom EX does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Melting Horn, this move requires one fire energy and allows you to discard the top 2 cards of your opponent's deck.  Houndoom's second move is called Grand Flame, for two fire energy cards this move does 50 damage plus allows you attach a fire energy card from your discard pile to one of your benched Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, because Houndoom EX is a basic Pokemon card you won't need to use any other cards with this card.  But remember, because this card is an EX card, if this card is knocked out, two prize cards are taken instead of one.  However, Houndoom does have a mega evolution you could use from this set and I will be reviewing that card tomorrow, so this strategy below will act like Houndoom EX does not have an evolution.  So knowing this, on its own, I would highly recommend not using this card in a deck, for an EX card it just isn't powerful at all plus it has a little lower HP for an EX card.  So I cannot recommend any strategy with this card because it is so poor, don't use it unless you plan on using M Houndoom EX.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 1 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a very poor EX Pokemon card from the BREAKthrough set.  There is really nothing that I like about this card at all.  It has a lower HP, and two pretty poor moves for an EX card.  The first move can't do any damage at all and the second move does about average damage, so there is no reason to use this card in a deck at all.

Typhlosion -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Typhlosion BREAKthrough Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Typhlosion from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Set.  Typhlosion is a stage 2, fire type Pokemon card, with an hp of 150.  It has a x2 weakness to water type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a three colorless energy card retreat cost.  Typhlosion does not have an Ancient Trait or an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Massive Eruption and for one fire energy card this move does 80 damage times the number of energy cards you discard when you discard the top 5 cards of your deck.  Typhlosion's second move is called Flare Destroy, for three energy cards, two fire and one colorless, this move does 130 damage, however both Pokemon have to have an energy card discarded from them.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Typhlosion is a stage 2 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Cyndaquil into play and then evolve it into Quilava before you can evolve Quilava into Typhlosion, both of those Pokemon are from this set and I've reviewed both of them the last two days.  If you've read my reviews of those cards you'll know that I thought Cyndaquil was an average Basic Pokemon card, it had a solid HP and two good moves but on the other hand I thought Quilava was pretty poor having a below average HP and only one move that on the average didn't do much damage.  So knowing this about the first two Pokemon in this line and looking at this Typhlosion card, the main reason you'll want to use this card is for Massive Eruption and the potential to do up to 400 damage in one turn for only one energy card.  Of course this move isn't sustainable throughout the game since you have to discard so many cards to use it, but one or two times using this move is definitely not out of the question.  I also like Flare Destroy quite well, it can basically do 130 damage a turn every single turn if you attach a Burning Energy card to Typhlosion thus not ever having to actually discard an energy card, plus if you're going to wait awhile to get a Stage 2 Pokemon set up, using three energy cards to attack opposed to one isn't that big of a deal.  If you're building a fire type deck, I would highly recommend trying to incorporate this line into your deck with at least a 2-1-1 line of this family, more than likely setting it up on the bench first then putting it into the active Pokemon spot when Typhlosion is ready.  You'll want to make sure to have a way to get energy cards on the top of your deck and get energy cards from your discard pile back into your deck when using Typhlosion.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 5 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an outstanding, extremely powerful Pokemon card, some would call it broken, from the BREAKthrough set.  This is a card that can do massive damage, up to 400 damage a turn and at a minimum 130 damage per turn.  So if you're looking for some power in your fire type deck, definitely don't skip over trying to fit this line into your deck.  Overall, I would give this line a 4 out of 5 rating, even though I gave Quilava a 1 rating, I think Typhlosion is just that good.
