Cubone -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Cubone BREAKthrough Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Cubone from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Set.  Cubone is a basic, fighting type Pokemon card with an hp of 70.  It has a x2 weakness to grass type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost. Cubone does not have an Ability and it only has one move.  This move is called Whimsy Tackle and for two energy cards, one each of fighting and colorless, this move does 50 damage, however you must flip a coin when using this move, if you get a tails the move does nothing.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Cubone is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Marowak, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution.  So, on its own, I would not recommend using this card in a deck, the main reason I say this is because this card is based on a coin flip, so if you have some bad luck and keep getting tails when flipping a coin, this card can do absolutely nothing.  If you do want to use this card in a deck, I would attach a Trick Coin trainer card to this card which would give you a better chance of getting a heads when flipping a coin.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Marowak, this is a below average Basic Pokemon card.  I say this because this card is based off of a coin flip and could do nothing at all if you can't flip a heads.  Other than that, this card has a high HP and can do a fair amount of damage, so if you're feeling lucky, you can definitely consider this card in a deck.

Sandslash -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Sandslash BREAKthrough Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Sandslash from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Set.  Sandslash is a stage 1, fighting type Pokemon card, with an hp of 90. It has a x2 weakness to grass type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Sandslash does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Slash, which does 20 damage for one fighting energy card.  Sandslash's second move is called Swift, for three colorless energy cards, this move does 80 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Sandslash is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Sandshrew into play (I reviewed Sandshrew from this set yesterday) and then evolve Sandshrew into Sandslash.  If you read yesterday's review of Sandshrew, you'll know that I thought that card was an average Basic Pokemon, one that could be used on its own because it could attack for only one energy card and it could do up to 20 damage per turn.  So knowing this about Sandshrew and looking at this Sandslash card, this card is on par with Sandshrew, meaning, this is a no frills, very solid Pokemon that can do a fair amount of damage, but nothing more.  So if you're looking to fill a fighting type deck with a couple of good attackers that can attack quickly, and do a fair amount of damage, I would definitely consider using a 1-1 line of Sandshrew and Sandslash.  You could try and start the game with Sandshrew, use its move to do up to 20 damage the first turn, then evolve it the next turn continuing to add energy cards until you get three energy cards on Sandslash and then use Swift every turn to do 80 damage.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a very solid Stage 1 Pokemon card from the BREAKthrough set.  I have nothing of dislike on this card, it has an average HP, low retreat cost, and two good moves.  Like I said above, if you're building a fighting type deck, definitely consider using this line in it, together I would give Sandslash and Sandshrew from this set a 3 out of 5 rating.

Sandshrew -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Sandshrew BREAKthrough Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Sandshrew from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Set.  Sandshrew is a basic, fighting type Pokemon card with an hp of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to grass type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost. Sandshrew does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Double Scratch, for one fighting energy card this move does 10 damage times the number of heads you get when you flip two coins.  Sandrew's second move is called Sand Tomb and for two energy cards, one each of fighting and colorless, does 20 damage, plus it makes the defending Pokemon unable to retreat during their next turn.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Sandshrew is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Sandslash, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution.  So, on its own, this card could definitely be used as a starter type Pokemon since it can attack for one energy card, can do more than 10 damage a turn, and has a low retreat cost and solid HP.  Ideally, you would want to get this card into the active Pokemon spot to start the game and use Double Scratch first, hoping for two heads, then Sand Tomb after that.  Because Double Scratch depends on coin flips, you can either attach a Trick Coin trainer to this card or find a better starter type Pokemon card to use, one that does 10 or 20 damage every single turn for one energy card.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Sandslash, this is an average Basic Pokemon card.  My only complaint with this card is that its first move is based off of coin flips, other than that, this card is suited perfectly to be a starter type Pokemon in a fighting type deck, and should be considered when building a fighting type deck.

Tomorrow's Pokemon Card:

Beheeyem -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Beheeyem BREAKthrough Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Beheeyem from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Set.  Beheeyem is a stage 1, psychic type Pokemon card, with an hp of 90. It has a x2 weakness to psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Beheeyem does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Mind Bullet, for one psychic energy card this move does 20 damage to one of your benched Pokemon times the number of energy attached to that Pokemon.  Beheeyem's second move is called Psybeam, for two psychic energy cards, this move does 50 damage, plus it confuses the defending Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Beheeyem is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Elgyem into play (I reviewed Elgyem from this set yesterday) and then evolve Elgyem into Beheeyem.  If you read yesterday's review of Elgyem, you'll know that I thought that card was a below average Basic Pokemon card.  I liked the fact that it could do up to 40 damage in two turns for only one energy card, but later in games with only 50 HP, it wouldn't be so great.  So knowing this about Elgyem and looking at Beheeyem, I like that this card is just as quick on the attack as Beheeyem, so you could start attacking with this card just a turn into the game.  What I would more than likely do is just keep this card on the bench, and use it to prevent your opponent from setting up their benched Pokemon, that way, if they do, you can move Beheeyem into the active Pokemon spot and use Mind Bullet on that Pokemon.  Psybeam is a strong move as well, but of course Mind Bullet has the potential to do more damage.  So this card would work well in either a psychic type deck or a spread attack deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 5 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a very good Stage 1 Pokemon card from the BREAKthrough set, and a card that can really wreak havoc on an opponent's benched Pokemon.  There is really nothing to complain about with this card, it has two great moves, one that attacks benched Pokemon and the other that inflicts a special condition in addition to doing a good amount of damage.  So if you're building a psychic type deck, definitely give the line of Elgyem and Beheeyem a look, together I give the cards a 4 out of 5 rating.

Elgyem -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Elgyem BREAKthrough Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Elgyem from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Set.  Elgyem is a basic, psychic type Pokemon card with an hp of 50.  It has a x2 weakness to psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost. Elgyem does not have an Ability and it only has one move called Psych Up that does 10 damage for one psychic energy card, however during Elgyem's next turn, Psych Up does 20 more damage, for a total of 30 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Elgyem is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Beheeyem, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution.  So, on its own, this card could be used as a starter type Pokemon in a deck if you use it in the active Pokemon spot to start the game and then proceed to use Psych Up two turns in a row, doing 40 damage total in two turns.  However, this card is very limited in what it can do, with only the one move, and this card is not that usable later in games since it has a low HP.  So if you need one more Basic Pokemon card to use in a psychic type deck, this card is worth a look, but for the most part, I would probably pass on using this card.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Beheeyem, this is a below average Basic Pokemon card.  Like I said above, at the very beginning of a game this card is decent, but as the game proceeds, this card gets weaker and weaker and is one that shouldn't be used in a deck.  So again, this card is worth considering, but there are plenty of psychic type Pokemon out there better than this one.

Swoobat -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Swoobat BREAKthrough Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Swoobat from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Set.  Swoobat is a stage 1, psychic type Pokemon card, with an hp of 90. It has a x2 weakness to lightning type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to fighting type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Swoobat does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Wave Amplifications and for one colorless energy card this move increases Swoobat's Returning Echo move's damage by 60 during Swoobat's next turn.  Swoobat's second move is called Returning Echo and for one psychic energy card it does 60 damage, however when using this move you must flip a coin, if tails, you must return Swoobat and all cards attached to it back to your hand.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Swoobat is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Woobat into play (I reviewed Woobat from this set yesterday) and then evolve Woobat into Swoobat.  If you read yesterday's review of Woobat, you'll know that I thought that card was a slightly below average Basic Pokemon card, there really wasn't anything below average on the card but since it could only do 10 damage maximum it was just very limited.  So knowing this about Woobat and looking at this Swoobat card, the best way to utilize these two cards would be to use a 1-1 line in a psychic type deck, get Woobat into the active Pokemon to start the game, do 10 damage the first turn, then evolve Woobat into Swoobat, use Wave Amplication first, then Returning Echo the second turn, of course if you can knock out the defending Pokemon by doing 60 damage, don't use Wave Amplification at all.  The reason you should use Wave Amplication first instead of using Returning Echo back to back, is the fact Returning Echo may make you remove Swoobat from the active Pokemon spot and then not be able to do that 60 damage the second turn.  Because of this coin flip on Returning Echo, I would have a hard time using this line a deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the BREAKthrough set.  I like the fact that this card can do major damage for only one energy card and the fact it has a solid HP and a low retreat cost.  Like I mentioned above, the thing holding this card back is that Returning Echo has the potential to move Swoobat back into your hand which makes this card very slow after using it the one time.  So together with Woobat from this set, which I gave a 2 rating, the entire family gets a 3 out of 5 rating, nothing wrong at all with using these two cards in your psychic type deck.

Woobat -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Woobat BREAKthrough Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Woobat from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Set.  Woobat is a basic, psychic type Pokemon card with an hp of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to lightning type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to fighting type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost. Woobat does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Odor Sleuth, for one colorless energy card this move allows you to put a card from your discard pile back into your hand, if you get a heads when flipping a coin.  Woobat's second move is called Psyshot, and for one psychic energy card does 10 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Woobat is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Swoobat, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution.  So, on its own, this card could be used as a starter Pokemon in a deck since it has an average HP, low retreat cost, and two quick moves.  The downside to using this card in a deck is that it can only do a maximum of 10 damage.  So if you're building a psychic type deck, it may be worth it to put one of these in your deck and be able to do 10 damage a turn to start the game for one energy card.  I would't make this card a staple of any deck, just because it is so limited.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Swoobat, this is a slightly below average Basic Pokemon card.  Like I said above, this card could be used on its own since there is nothing too below average about it, but the fact that this card can only do 10 damage maximum a turn makes me give it a 2 out of 5 rating instead of a 3.

Cresselia -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Cresselia BREAKthrough Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Cresselia from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Set.  Cresselia is a basic, psychic type Pokemon card with an hp of 110, it has a x2 weakness to psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Cresselia's Ability is called My Way and says that if there is a Stadium card in play that Cresselia has a free retreat cost.  Other than an Ability, Cresselia's one move is called Moonlight Gain, for three energy cards, two colorless and one psychic, this move does 70 damage and heals 20 damage from itself.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Cresselia is a basic Pokemon with no evolutions, you only have to use this Pokemon in your deck if you want to use this card.  With that being said, even though this car does require three energy cards to attack, it would be a useful card to play in a deck because it does do above average damage when attacking, plus heals damage, making Cresselia's high HP seem even higher.  So I would say if you're building a psychic type deck, and you plan on using some Stadium cards in your deck, there is no doubt that you should be using this card in that deck, you can then get three energy cards on Cresselia on the bench and then move Cresselia in and out of the active Pokemon spot at will since it will have a free retreat cost.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average, yet very solid, Basic Pokemon card from the BREAKthrough set.  The only thing holding this card back from being a lot better is the fact it requires three energy cards to attack, other than that, this card has a good HP, a good Ability, and a very powerful move.

Kirlia -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Kirlia BREAKthrough Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Kirlia from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card set.  Kirlia is a stage 1, psychic type Pokemon card, with an hp of 80.  It has a x2 weakness to psychic  type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Kirlia does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Beckon and for one psychic energy card it allows you to move a supporter card from your discard pile back into your hand.  Kirlia's second move is called Quick Turn and for two colorless energy cards does 30 damage times the number of heads you get when you flip two coins.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Kirlia is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Ralts into play (I reviewed Ralts from this set yesterday) and then evolve Ralts into Kirlia.  Kirlia does have two Stage 2 evolution forms in Gardevoir and Gallade, there is not a Gardevoir in this set but there is a Gallade card, which is a fighting type card and a card that I will be reviewing in the next couple of weeks.  Also, there are two Ralts cards from this set, the other is a fairy type card, I have reviewed the psychic type so far and thought that card was an average Basic Pokemon card, it could do a fair amount of damage for two energy cards and it could heal a great amount of damage for only one energy card.  So knowing this about the Ralts from this set and looking at Kirlia, I wouldn't use the two together without using either Gallade or Gardevoir.  So I would stick to either just Ralts as a starter type Pokemon giving you time to set up your bench Pokemon, or not using this line at all.  I say this because I am not that impressed by either move that Kirlia has, add in a low HP, and there is plenty of reason not to want to use this card in a deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is a below average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the BREAKthrough set.  I do like that this card has two moves, one that does damage and one that retrieves cards from the discard pile, however, this card has too low of an HP, its only move that can do damage is based off of a coin flip, and Kirlia's first move can be replaced by a trainer card.  So overall, I cannot recommend using this card in a deck and combined with the psychic type Ralts in this deck, would give a 2 out of 5 rating.

Ralts -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Ralts BREAKthrough Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Ralts from the BREAKthrough set.  This is the first of two Ralts cards I'll be reviewing from this set, the other Ralts card in this set is a fairy type Pokemon.  Ralts is a basic, psychic type Pokemon card with an HP of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Ralts does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Nap, for one psychic energy card this move heals 30 damage from Ralts.  Ralts' second move is called Smack and for two colorless energy cards this move does 20 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Ralts is a basic Pokemon card with a Stage 1 evolution in Kirlia, and a Stage 2 evolution in Gallade and Gardevoir, you'll more than likely want to use this card with its evolution forms, which I'll be reviewing in the next couple of days and weeks, since there is a second Ralts card in this set which is a fairy type, Kirlia is a psychic type, Gallade is a fighting type Pokemon, and there is no Gardevoir in this set, but for now, I will be acting like this card will be used on its own.  So, by itself, this card would be a decent starter type Pokemon to use in a deck, and one that could be put into the active Pokemon spot later in the game if the defending Pokemon can't do more than 30 damage a turn.  Early on in a game, you could remove damage done to Ralts using Nap and then do 20 damage a turn with Smack, and since this move requires colorless energy cards it makes Ralts easier to use, later in games, if you're forced to put Ralts into the active Pokemon spot, you should be able to prolong its use by continually using Nap.  If you're building a psychic type deck, I would consider this card for sure.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average Basic Pokemon card from the BREAKthrough set.  There really is no complaints from me on this card, it has an average HP, low retreat cost, and two good moves, one that heals damage and the other that inflicts an average amount of damage each turn.  So like I said above, this card isn't amazing by any means, but it is definitely worth considering when building a deck.

Wobbuffet -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Wobbuffet BREAKthrough Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Wobbuffet from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Set.  Wobbuffet is a basic, psychic type Pokemon card with an hp of 100, it has a x2 weakness to psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a three colorless energy card retreat cost.  Wobbuffet does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Mirror Barrier and for one colorless energy card this move prevents all damage done to Wobbuffet during your opponent's next turn if you get a heads when flipping a coin.  Wobbuffet's second move is called Rolling Tackle and for three energy cards, two psychic and one colorless, this move does 50 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Wobbuffet is a basic Pokemon with no evolutions, you only have to use this Pokemon in your deck if you want to use this card.  With that being said, the main reason I would use this card is for its Mirror Barrier move.  I would attach a Trick Coin trainer to this card, move Wobbuffet into the active Pokemon spot to start the game and hope I would get a heads every turn when using Mirror Barrier so that Wobbuffet wouldn't be damaged and it would give you time to set up your bench.  Other than for this purpose, there is no other reason to use Wobbuffet in a deck since Rolling Tackle does below average damage for the amount of energy it requires.  When building a deck, at most I would consider using one of these in a deck, the main reason I wouldn't use many of this card is because its retreat cost is so high.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a below average Basic Pokemon card from the BREAKthrough set.  This card does have some positives like its high HP, and the potential of preventing all damage from your opponent, but the negatives outweigh the positives on this card with a very high retreat cost, a coin flip based move, and an under powered move in Rolling Tackle.  So although you could definitely use Wobbuffet in a deck, I would recommend looking elsewhere.

Mismagius -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Mismagius BREAKthrough Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Mismagius from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Set.  Mismagius is a stage 1, psychic type Pokemon card, with an hp of 90. It has a x2 weakness to darkness type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to fighting type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Mismagius's Ability is called Twisted Incantation and says that when you play Mismagius from your hand to evolve one of your Pokemon you may have your opponent shuffle their hand into their deck and draw one card for each prize card they have left.  Besides the Ability, Mismagius has one move called Curse Deeply that does 60 damage for three energy cards, two colorless and one psychic, plus it confuses the defending Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Mismagius is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Misdreavus into play (I reviewed Misdreavus from this set yesterday) and then evolve Misdreavus into Mismagius.  If you read yesterday's review of Misdreavus, you'll know that I thought that card was an average Basic Pokemon card, it had 60 HP, a low retreat cost, and could do 20 damage for one energy card, so not only could it be used as a starter type Pokemon, but it also could be used on its own.  So knowing this about Misdreavus and looking at this Mismagius card, there are basically two ways to play this card, you can either move Misdreavus to the active Pokemon spot to start the game and then evolve it into Mismagius after you get three energy cards on it, or you can leave this line on the bench, waiting until the end of the game when your opponent has few prize cards left, thus utilizing Mismagius's Ability and limited what they can do by forcing them to have fewer cards in their hand.  I personally would only use a 1-1 line of this Pokemon line, and use Misdreavus as a starter type Pokemon then get three energy cards on it, evolve it into Mismagius, and use Curse Deeply every turn.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is a very solid Stage 1 Pokemon card from the BREAKthrough set.  There really isn't anything to complain about on this card, it has an average HP, low retreat cost, a good Ability, even though it can be used once, and a powerful move that does average damage but confuses the defending Pokemon.  Both Pokemon in this family from the BREAKthrough set received 3 out of 5 rating individually and they will receive the same rating combined, this line is definitely one to consider when building a psychic type deck.

Misdreavus -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Misdreavus BREAKthrough Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Misdreavus from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Set.  Misdreavus is a basic, psychic type Pokemon card with an hp of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to darkness type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to fighting type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost. Misdreavus does not have an Ability and it only has one move.  The only move that this card has is called Haunt, for one psychic energy card this move puts two damage counters on your opponent's active Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Misdreavus is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Mismagius, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution.  So, on its own, this card could easily be used as a starter type Pokemon in a psychic type deck since it can attack for only one energy.  So you could put up to four of these in a deck and hope to start the game with this Pokemon in the active Pokemon spot, then do 20 damage a turn every turn until you either evolve Misdreavus or retreat it for a stronger Pokemon.  But you can't go wrong being able to do 20 damage a turn for only one energy card.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Mismagius, this is a pretty average Basic Pokemon card.  This card has an average HP, low retreat cost, and one good move, making it a perfectly fine starter type Pokemon in a deck.  So like I said above, if you're building a psychic type deck, definitely give this card a look.

M Mewtwo Y EX -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

M Mewtwo Y EX BREAKthrough
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of M Mewtwo Y EX from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Set.  M Mewtwo Y EX is a Mega Evolution, EX, psychic type Pokemon card with an hp of 210. It has a x2 weakness to psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  M Mewtwo Y EX does not have an Ability or an Ancient Trait and it only has one move.  The only move that this card has is called Psychic Infinity, for two colorless energy cards this move does 10 damage plus 30 more damage times the amount of energy attached to both active Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
Before I start with the strategy, remember that this card is a Mega Evolution card and an EX card so if you use this card in your deck and it gets knocked out, your opponent gets to take two prize cards instead of one and when you evolve an EX card into its Mega Evolution, your turn ends, you cannot do anything else.  So knowing these things, you'll always want to use Mega Evolution cards with caution, with that being said, just like yesterday's Mega Mewtwo EX card, if you're looking to do major power, this is a card you want to consider for a deck, but unlike yesterday's Mega EX card, this card can work in any type deck since it only requires colorless type energy.  So yesterday's Mega Mewtwo could do 200 damage a turn for 4 energy cards, this card can do 130 damage a turn for four energy cards, which means it can do more damage than yesterday's card if the opposing Pokemon has three energy cards on it.  So in my opinion, yesterday's card is a bit better, pure power wise, but if you want to more easily do major damage and not have to worry about different types of energy, this is the card to go with.  I could easily see using one of each Mega Mewtwo EX in a psychic type deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a very good Mega EX Pokemon card from the BREAKthrough set.  Even though this card does a little less damage, on average than the X version, I am giving this card the same rating because it only requires colorless energy cards to attack and it has a lower retreat cost.  But you really can't go wrong with either of the two Mega Mewtwo EX cards from this set, and overall, all of the Mewtwo cards in this set get a 4 out of 5 rating.

M Mewtwo X EX -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

M Mewtwo X EX BREAKthrough
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of M Mewtwo X EX from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Set.  M Mewtwo X EX is a Mega Evolution, EX, psychic type Pokemon card with an hp of 230. It has a x2 weakness to psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a three colorless energy card retreat cost.  M Mewtwo X EX does not have an Ability or an Ancient Trait and it only has one move.  The only move that this card has is called Vanishing Strike, for four energy cards, two fighting and one each of colorless and psychic, this move does 150 damage plus 50 more damage if there is a Stadium card in play.

So knowing these things, you'll always want to use Mega Evolution cards with caution, with that being said, if you're looking to do 200 damage a turn with a Pokemon card in your deck, this is definitely the card to use.  I could see using one of these cards in a split deck of fighting and psychic type Pokemon, getting 4 energy cards on this card, and when you need to knock out a Pokemon in one turn, putting a Stadium card into play and moving this card to the active Pokemon spot and then using Vanishing Strike, and then keeping Mewtwo in the active Pokemon spot for the rest of the game one hit KOing all of your opponent's Pokemon.  Because this card should be set up on the bench, it really doesn't matter which Mewtwo EX you use from this set, but I would prefer the second one, number 62/162.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a very good Mega EX Pokemon card from the BREAKthrough set.  Because this card is a little slow on the attack and depends on having a Stadium card in play plus two distinct energy types I am only giving this card a 4 out of 5 rating, but nevertheless, this card has major power and could definitely be a card a deck is built around.  Together with either of the Mewtwo EX cards from this set, I would give the cards a 4 out of 5 rating, definitely recommend this line.

Mewtwo EX 62/162 -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Mewtwo BREAKthrough Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Mewtwo EX, Mewtwo EX Full Art, and Mewtwo EX Full Art secret rare from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Set.  This is the second set of Mewtwo EX from this set I've reviewed.  Mewtwo EX is a basic, EX, psychic type Pokemon card with an hp of 170. It has a x2 weakness to psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Mewtwo EX does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Shatter Shot, for one psychic energy card this move does 30 damage times the amount of psychic energy attached to this card.  Mewtwo's second move is called Damage Change and for three energy cards, two psychic and one colorless this move allows you to switch all damage counters on this Mewtwo card with all of the damage counters on the defending Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, because Mewtwo EX is a basic Pokemon card you won't need to use any other cards with this card.  But remember, because this card is an EX card, if this card is knocked out, two prize cards are taken instead of one.  However, Mewtwo does have two different Mega EX cards it could evolve into and it has another EX version in this set.  In the next couple of days I will be reviewing the Mega EX cards but later in this post I will be comparing both Mewtwo EX cards from this set.  So looking specifically at this Mewtwo EX card, it is definitely wise to use this card in a mostly Psychic type deck so that the energy cards attached to Mewtwo are psychic thus allowing you to do more damage with Shatter Shot.  The  main reason you'd use this card in a deck is for Mewtwo's second move, Damage Change, ideally each time your opponent brings a new Pokemon into the active Pokemon spot you would want to use Damage Change and not only remove all damage from Mewtwo, but receive zero damage in return, then after that you could either retreat Mewtwo or use Shatter Shot for a few turns.  This Mewtwo card would also work well with a Pokemon that attacks its own bench, that way you could direct that attack to this card and Damage Change would do more damage faster.  Comparing the two Mewtwo EX cards in this set, this Mewtwo is much better, for two energy cards on both card, one can do 30 damage the other 80, so give the edge to this card.  Plus, Damage Change has the potential to do 160 damage a turn.  So if you want to use Mewtwo EX in a deck, use this one over yesterday's card.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an above average EX Pokemon card from the BREAKthrough set.  Like I said, of the two Mewtwo EX cards in this set, this is the one to use.  It can do more damage not only quicker but overall.  If you're building a psychic type deck, it is definitely worth consideration of using this card.

Mewtwo EX 61/162 -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Mewtwo EX BREAKthrough
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Mewtwo EX, Mewtwo EX Full Art, and Mewtwo EX Full Art secret rare from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Set.  This is one set of Mewtwo EX from this set, I'll be reviewing the other Mewtwo EX tomorrow. The first move that this card has is called Photon Wave, for two colorless energy cards this move does 30 damage, plus it reduces any damage done to Mewtwo EX during your opponent's next turn by 30.  Mewtwo's second move is called Psyburn, for four energy cards, two each of colorless and psychic, this move does 120 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, because Mewtwo EX is a basic Pokemon card you won't need to use any other cards with this card.  But remember, because this card is an EX card, if this card is knocked out, two prize cards are taken instead of one.  However, Mewtwo does have another EX card in this set as well as two Mega EX cards, so until I get done reviewing all of those cards, you won't know for sure how good this card is, but for now, I will assume that this card won't be evolved and you don't know about the other Mewtwo EX card from this set.  So, on its own, if you're building a psychic type deck, this card could be a decent starter type Pokemon since its quickest move only requires two energy cards to attack and damage is reduced on Mewtwo following that move, making weaker Pokemon unable to do damage to Mewtwo.  If you can't get Mewtwo into the active Pokemon spot to start the game, it makes more sense to get four energy cards on it on the bench and then do 120 damage a turn with Psyburn.  Because Mewtwo is slower on the attack, if you want to do major damage, I would only use one of these cards in a deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average EX Pokemon card from the BREAKthrough set.  You definitely don't need to use this card in a psychic type deck, but it wouldn't hurt adding it to your deck since this card can do major damage every single turn and can be defensive with Photon Wave.

Gengar -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Gengar BREAKthrough Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Gengar from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Set.  Gengar is a stage 2, psychic type Pokemon card, with an hp of 130.  It has a x2 weakness to darkness type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to fighting type Pokemon, and a free retreat cost.  Gengar does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Sinister Fog, for one psychic energy card this move poisons the defending Pokemon and puts one damage counter on each of your opponent's benched Pokemon.  Gengar's second move is called Creep Show, for two energy cards, one each of colorless and psychic, knocks out the defending Pokemon if that Pokemon has 3 or more damage counters on it.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Gengar is a stage 2 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Gastly into play and then evolve it into Haunter before you can evolve Haunter into Gengar, both of those Pokemon are from this set and I've reviewed both of them the last two days.  If you've read my reviews of those cards you'll know that I thought both Gastly and Haunter were below average Basic Pokemon cards, both cards had below average HP and neither card could do any damage when attacking, both only had the potential to inflict special conditions.  So knowing this about the first two Pokemon in this line and looking at Gengar, if you're building a psychic type deck, there is no reason to not use this line in your deck, keeping the entire line on the bench until you get Gengar into play.  Once Gengar gets into play, I would recommend moving it into the active Pokemon spot every time the defending Pokemon has 30 damage on it or more, thus being able to knock it out with Creep Show right away.  So ideally, this card would be used in a spread attack deck, that way, it gives you a much better shot at having the active Pokemon have 30 damage on it when it is moved to the active Pokemon spot.  I would only use a 1-1-1 line of this Pokemon family in a deck, but it would be a very powerful line to use.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 5 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an extremely powerful Stage 2 Pokemon card from the BREAKthrough set and one that should be used if building a spread attack or a psychic type deck.  It is just so powerful being able to knock out any active Pokemon if it has 30 damage or more that it can essentially one hit Mega EX cards after having 30 damage on them.  Together with Gastly and Haunter from this set, I would give this line a 4 out of 5 rating still, just because Gengar is so good.

Haunter -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Haunter BREAKthrough Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Haunter from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card set.  Haunter is a stage 1, psychic type Pokemon card, with an hp of 70.  It has a x2 weakness to darkness type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to fighting type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Haunter does have an Ability which is called Gothic Fear, and says that when you play Haunter from your hand to evolve one of your Pokemon, you may leave both active Pokemon confused.  Besides the Ability, Haunter just has one move called Poison Ring that for two energy cards, one each of psychic and colorless, and poisons the defending Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Haunter is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Gastly into play (I reviewed Gastly from this set yesterday) and then evolve Gastly into Haunter.  Haunter does have a Stage 2 evolution in Gengar, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, that you'll probably want to use with this Pokemon line but since I haven't reviewed that card yet, the strategy below will act like Haunter is the final evolution in this line.  So if you read my review of Gastly, you'll know that I thought that card was a below average Basic Pokemon card, it did have a solid HP and a low retreat cost, but the only move it did have required a coin flip and was not guaranteed to any damage at all.  So knowing this about Gastly and looking at this Haunter card, ideally you would want to utilize Haunter's Ability and confuse both Pokemon, however unless you have ways to remove confusion from your own active Pokemon spot I wouldn't recommend utilizing this Ability.  Other than that, this card has only one move that isn't that great only poisoning the defending Pokemon, so if you have to play Haunter, I would probably use Poison Ring one turn and then try to retreat it for a Pokemon that can do damage every turn.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is a below average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the BREAKthrough set.  There really isn't anything that stands out to me on this card, it has a low HP and a pretty weak move.  So unless you plan on using this entire Pokemon line, I would not recommend using Gastly and Haunter without Gengar and would give the first two Pokemon in this line a combined 2 out of 5 rating, both are poor individually and together.

Tomorrow's Pokemon Card:
So thanks for reading today's Pokemon card review of Haunter from the BREAKthrough set, stay tuned for tomorrow's card review of Haunter's Stage 2 evolution in Gengar, which is from this same set.  Make sure to check below for the Free Pokemon TCG Online Codes!

Gastly -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Gastly BREAKthrough Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Gastly from the BREAKthrough set.  Gastly is a basic, psychic type Pokemon card with an HP of 50.  It has a x2 weakness to darkness type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to fighting type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Gastly does not have an Ability and it only has one move.  The one move it has is called Sleep Poison, for one psychic energy card this move poisons and puts the defending Pokemon to sleep if you get a heads when flipping a coin.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Gastly is a basic Pokemon card with a Stage 1 evolution in Haunter, and a Stage 2 evolution in Gengar, which I'll be reviewing the next few days, you'll more than likely want to use some of those Pokemon with this card, however, since I have not reviewed any of those cards yet, I will just act like Gastly does not have any evolution forms and that it will be used on its own.  On its own, I would not recommend using this card in a deck, mainly because this card only has one move and this move is based off of a coin flip.  If you want to use this card in a deck, make sure to attach a Trick Coin trainer to it to give you two shots at getting a heads when flipping a coin, and try and get this card into the active Pokemon spot to start the game to disrupt your opponent's strategy and give you time to get your own Pokemon set up.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a slightly below average Basic Pokemon card from the BREAKthrough set.  This card would be pretty good if Sleep Poison didn't require a coin flip, but because it does I am giving this card a below average rating.  Other than that, this card has a solid HP and a low retreat cost and is definitely worth consideration when building a psychic type deck.

Dedenne -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Dedenne BREAKthrough Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Dedenne from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Set.  Dedenne is a basic, lightning type Pokemon card with an hp of 60, it has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to metal type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Stunfisk does not have an Ability and it only has one move called Thunder Shock that for one lightning energy card does 10 damage, plus if you get a heads when you flip a coin it paralyzes the defending Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Dedenne is a basic Pokemon with no evolutions, you only have to use this Pokemon in your deck if you want to use this card.  With that being said, this card could work well as a starter type Pokemon in a lightning type deck.  It has a solid HP and a low retreat cost, plus it can attack for only one energy card plus it has the possibility of paralyzing the defending Pokemon meaning that it gives you more time to set up your benched Pokemon early in the game.  So if I was building a lightning type deck, I would definitely consider using 1 or 2 of these cards as starter type Pokemon for my deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average Basic Pokemon card from the BREAKthrough set.  Other than just having one move and only being able to do a maximum of 10 damage, this card is solid overall, nothing to complain about and a card that could definitely be used in a lightning type deck.

Stunfisk -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Stunfisk BREAKthrough Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Stunfisk from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Set.  Stunfisk is a basic, lightning type Pokemon card with an hp of 110, it has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to metal type Pokemon, and a three colorless energy card retreat cost.  Stunfisk does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Revenge, for two energy cards, one each of lightning and colorless, this move does 20 damage plus 80 more damage if any of your Pokemon was knocked out during your opponent's previous turn.  Stunfisk's second move is called Thunder Blast, this move does 80 damage for three energy cards, two lightning and one colorless, however you must discard an energy attached to Stunfisk when using this move.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Stunfisk is a basic Pokemon with no evolutions, you only have to use this Pokemon in your deck if you want to use this card.  With that being said, because this card has such a high retreat cost, I would be wary of using this card very much in a deck.  I probably wouldn't use it at all, but if you want to use it, here is the strategy I would use, I would make sure to set this card up on the bench, put two energy cards on it, any time one of your Pokemon is knocked out, move Stunfisk to the active Pokemon spot the next turn and then use a Switch trainer to retreat it after using Revenge one turn doing 100 damage.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average Basic Pokemon card from the BREAKthrough set.  This card is pretty slow on the attack and has a high retreat cost, but if you use this card solely for revenge, it can be pretty good, and it is definitely worth consideration in a lightning type deck.

Raikou -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Raikou BREAKthrough Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Raikou from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Set.  Raikou is a basic, lightning type Pokemon card with an hp of 120, it has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to metal type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Raikou's Ability is called Shining Body and says that if Raikou has any lightning type energy attached to it, all damage done to Raikou by attacks is reduced by 20.  Besides the Ability, Raikou just has one move called Thunder Lance, and for three colorless energy cards this move does 50 damage plus 20 more damage for each lightning energy card attached to this Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Raikou is a basic Pokemon with no evolutions, you only have to use this Pokemon in your deck if you want to use this card.  With that being said, this card would be used as an attacker in the active Pokemon spot, so this is a great card to pair with Magnezone from yesterday since Magnezone can quickly get lightning type Pokemon set up.  I would make sure to put three lightning type energy cards on Raikou so that it can do 110 damage a turn with Thunder Lance plus it would reduce damage by 20 from attacks.  So if you're building a lightning type deck, I would definitely consider using this card in your deck, one potentially two of them.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a very good Basic Pokemon card from the BREAKthrough set.  Not only does this card have a high HP and a low retreat cost, but its Ability and only move work very well together making this card do well above average damage and reduce damage from attacks making Raikou's high HP seem even higher.  So like I said above, definitely consider this card when building a lightning type deck.

Magnezone -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Magnezone BREAKthrough Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Magnezone from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Set.  Magnezone is a stage 2, lightning type Pokemon card, with an hp of 140.  It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistanceto metal type Pokemon, and a three colorless energy card retreat cost.  Magnezone's Ability is called Magnetic Circuit and says that as often as you'd like during your turn you may attach a lightning type energy card from your hand to one of your Pokemon.  Besides the Ability, Magnezone just has one move called Thunder Blast that does 100 damage for three energy cards, two lightning and one colorless.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Magnezone is a stage 2 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Magnemite into play and then evolve it into Magneton before you can evolve Magneton into Magnezone, both of those Pokemon are from this set and I've reviewed all three of those cards, there are two Magnemite, in the past three days.  If you've read my reviews of those cards you'll know that I thought for the most part they were all below average.  Both Magnemite cards couldn't do damage when attacking unless you put two energy cards on them and Magneton could do above average damage but you had to discard an energy card when attacking and it had a really low HP.  So knowing this about the first two Pokemon in this line and looking at this Magnezone card, the main reason you'll want to use this Magnezone card is for its Ability and because you can use an Ability from the bench there is no reason to use more than 1 of each of the Pokemon in this family and ever to move this line to the active Pokemon spot.  So if you're building a lightning type deck, this Magnezone card is pretty much a staple of that deck since it makes setting up your lightning type Pokemon cards so easy and can make all of your Pokemon ready to attack in a couple of turns.  So to pair with this Magnezone card, you'll want ways to get lots of energy cards into your hand and cards that can retrieve them from your discard pile.  Because Magnezone's Ability is so good, I would never put this card in the active Pokemon spot.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 5 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an unbelievably good lightning type Pokemon card and one that should be in every lightning type deck out there, it just makes your deck that much better.  Even though I really like this card, Magnemite and Magneton from this set are pretty poor, so I can only give the entire line a 4 out of 5 rating.

Magneton -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Magneton BREAKthrough Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Magneton from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card set.  Magneton is a stage 1, lightning type Pokemon card, with an hp of 80.  It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to metal type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Magneton does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Static Shock, for one lightning energy card this move paralyzes the defending Pokemon if you get a heads when flipping a coin.  Magneton's second move is called Electro Ball, for three energy cards, two colorless and one lightning, this move does 70 damage, however you must discard an energy attached to Magneton after using.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Magneton is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Magnemite into play (I reviewed Magnemite from this set yesterday) and then evolve Magnemite into Magneton.  Magneton does have a Stage 2 evolution in Magnezone, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, that you'll probably want to use with this Pokemon line but since I haven't reviewed that card yet, the strategy below will act like Magneton is the final evolution in this line.  So if you read my reviews of both Magnemite cards from this set you'll know that I thought both cards were pretty similar and the card I reviewed yesterday, number 52 was just a tiny bit better since it could attack for one energy card as opposed to two on the first Magnemite card.  But regardless, I think the best method if you want to use Magnemite and Magneton is to evolve this line on the bench.  So looking at this specific Magneton card, the only reason to use this card is to do 70 damage a turn with Electro Ball, but because this move requires three energy cards and Magnemite is not very good and this Magneton has a low HP, I cannot recommend using this line in a deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is a below average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the BREAKthrough set.  Unfortunately other than having two moves and a low retreat cost, there isn't much to like about this card.  One of the Magneton's moves is based off of a coin flip, and the other move does do above average damage but makes you discard an energy card.  So unless you need to use this line for Magnezone, please avoid it, I cannot give the first two Pokemon in this line less than a 2 out of 5 rating.

Magnemite 52/162 -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Magnemite from the BREAKthrough set.  This is the second of the two Magnemite cards from this set I've reviewed.  Magnemite is a basic, lightning type Pokemon card with an HP of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to metal type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  This Magnemite card does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Shock Generator, for one lightning type energy card this move paralyzes the defending Pokemon if you get a heads when flipping a coin.  Magnemite's second move is called Lightning Ball and for two colorless energy cards this move does 20 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Magnemite is a basic Pokemon card with a Stage 1 evolution in Magneton, and a Stage 2 evolution in Magnezone, which I'll be reviewing the next couple of days, you'll more than likely want to use some of those Pokemon with this card, however, since I have not reviewed any of those cards yet, I will just act like Magnemite does not have any evolution forms and that it will be used on its own, however I will be comparing both Magnemite cards from this set.  On its own, this card would be an okay starter type Pokemon in a lightning type deck since it has an average HP, and two moves.  You could move this card into the active Pokemon spot to start the game and prevent your opponent from attacking with Shock Generator and then the second turn use Lightning Ball.  Looking at both Magnemite cards from this set, both are pretty similar, since both have the Lightning Ball move and one other thing they can do, an Ability on yesterday's card and a move on this card.  If you plan on using Magnemite on its own, this is the card you want to use since it can attack for one energy card.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a slightly below average to average Basic Pokemon card from the BREAKthrough set.  Of the two Magnemite cards from this set, I would give the nod to this card, even though neither card is that great.  So if you're building a lightning type deck, this card is worthy of a look.

Magnemite 51/162 -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Magnemite BREAKthrough Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Magnemite from the BREAKthrough set.  This is the first of two consecutive Magnemite cards I'll be reviewing from this set.  Magnemite is a basic, lightning type Pokemon card with an HP of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to metal type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  This Magnemite has an Ability called Sparkling Induction and says that as long as this Magnemite is your active Pokemon, it has one colorless energy card retreat cost for each Magnemite on your bench.  Besides the Ability, Magnemite just has one move called Lightning Ball that does 20 damage for two colorless energy cards.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Magnemite is a basic Pokemon card with a Stage 1 evolution in Magneton, and a Stage 2 evolution in Magnezone, which I'll be reviewing the next few days, you'll more than likely want to use some of those Pokemon with this card, however, since I have not reviewed any of those cards yet and I haven't reviewed the second Magnemite card yet, I will just act like Magnemite does not have any evolution forms and that it will be used on its own.  On its own, I would not recommend using this card in a deck, the main reason being it requires two energy cards to attack as opposed to one.  This card sets up better to be used with its evolution forms because you can than more than likely utilize its Ability and retreat Magnemite for free.  If you plan on using this card on its own, you can fit it into any type deck since it only requires colorless energy cards to use, and you have to use Lightning Ball every turn.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a slightly below average Basic Pokemon card from the BREAKthrough set.  Like I said above, if this card could attack for one energy card, I would have gave it an average rating, but because this card is slow on the attack it is below average.  So if you're building a lightning type deck, this card should be considered but there really is no reason to want to use it in your deck without Magneton.
