Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Cyndaquil from the BREAKthrough set. Cyndaquil is a basic, fire type Pokemon card with an HP of 60. It has a x2 weakness to water type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost. Cyndaquil does not have an Ability or an Ancient Trait but it does have two moves. The first move that this card has is called Tackle, for one colorless energy card this move does 10 damage. Cyndaquil's second move is called Ember and for two energy cards, one each of colorless and fire, this move does 30 damage, however a fire energy card must be discarded from Cyndaquil after performing this move.
Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Cyndaquil is a basic Pokemon card with a Stage 1 evolution in Quilava, and a Stage 2 evolution in Typhlosion, which I'll be reviewing the next few days, you'll more than likely want to use some of those Pokemon with this card, however, since I have not reviewed any of those cards yet, I will just act like Cyndaquil does not have any evolution forms and that it will be used on its own. On its own, this card could be used as a starter type Pokemon since this card can attack with only one energy card and it can do up to 30 damage a turn which should knock out some Basic Pokemon in two turns. However, if you're building a fire type deck, I wouldn't go too crazy with this card just because Ember makes you discard an energy every time you attack, but you could always put a Burning Energy card on Cyndaquil to prevent this. So if you're building a fire type deck and need a starter type Pokemon, I would definitely recommend considering this Cyndaquil card.
Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating. In my opinion, this is an average Basic Pokemon card from the BREAKthrough set. There is nothing that I really dislike about this card, it has an average HP, low retreat cost and two solid moves. The only thing preventing me from really liking this card is that Ember discards an energy card, but like I stated above this can be prevented with a Special energy card.

False. According to 'PrimetimePokemon's Top 10 Favourite Pokemon' (27 August, 2011), you said that "This was the starter I chose In Pokemon Crystal." (1:28-1:30).
