Vanilluxe -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Vanilluxe Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Vanilluxe from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Set.  Vanilluxe is a Stage 2, Water type Pokemon card, with a HP of 140.  It has a x2 weakness to Metal type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  This card does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move on this card is called Hail, for one Water Energy card this move does 20 damage to each of your opponent's Pokemon.  Frozen Breath is the name of the second move on this card, for three Water Energy cards this move does 80 damage, plus you may Paralyze the defending Pokemon if you choose to discard two Water Energy cards from Vanilluxe.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Vanilluxe is a Stage 2 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Vanillite into play and then evolve it into Vanillish before you can evolve Vanillish into Vanilluxe, both of those Pokemon are from this set and I've reviewed both of them the last two days.  If you've read my reviews of those cards you'll know that I thought both cards were below average overall.  Unfortunately both Pokemon so far have had below average HP and one move each, although both cards have potential to do major damage, neither card is guaranteed to do that much damage when attacking.  So knowing this about the first two Pokemon in this line and looking at Vanilluxe, I would highly recommend evolving this line on the Bench.  I would also recommend using this line in a spread attack deck, you can put Vanilluxe in the Active Pokemon spot when it only has one Energy card on it, and do 20 damage to all of your opponent's Pokemon in play, not only is this a quick move, but the total amount of damage possible with this one move is pretty great.  Frozen Breath also does above average damage, but I would stick to Hail most turns, and I wouldn't recommend discarding Energy cards when attacking either.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an above average Stage 2 Pokemon card from the Guardians Rising set.  Other than having a somewhat low HP for a Stage 2 Pokemon card, this card is pretty good overall.  It can be used in a mostly Water type deck and do 80 damage per turn, or in a spread attack type deck and do 20 damage to each Pokemon in play.  Unfortunately, because Vanillite and Vanillish from this set aren't that good, I can only give this line a 3 out of 5 combined rating, definitely evolve this line on the Bench.

Vanilluxe -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Vanilluxe BREAKthrough Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Vanilluxe from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Set.  Vanilluxe is a stage 2, water type Pokemon card, with an hp of 130.  It has a x2 weakness to metal type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Vanilluxe does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Frigid Breath, for two energy cards, one each of water and colorless, this move does 30 damage, plus it makes it so that neither player can use any Supporter or Stadium cards until the end of your next turn.  Deep Freeze is Vanilluxe's second move and for three energy cards, two colorless and one water, this move does 70 damage, plus it paralyzes the defending Pokemon if you get a heads when flipping a coin or confuses it if you get a tails when flipping a coin.

If you've read my reviews of those cards you'll know that I thought both Vanillite and Vanillish were below average Basic Pokemon cards, both were decent move wise, but both had really low HP and would be an easy knockout later in games.  So knowing this about the first two Pokemon in this line and looking at this Vanilluxe card, on its own, this isn't a bad card, both of its moves are usable, with how heavily Supporter cards are used in the metagame, Frigid Breath may really ruin your opponent's strategy, and Deep Freeze not only does above average damage but inflicts a special condition as well.  The only downside on this card is that it is a Stage 2 Pokemon card so it is slow to set up and neither of the forms before Vanilluxe are very good.  So unless you really like Vanilluxe, I would probably look elsewhere when building a water type deck, at most I would use a 1-1-1 line of this family.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an average to slightly above average Stage 2 Pokemon card from the BREAKthrough set.  There is really nothing that I dislike on this card, both moves do above average damage or at least do more than just attack, both moves are fairly quick, and unlike Vanillite and Vanillish, this card has a good HP.  However, because the two Pokemon I just mentioned are below average, I can't give this entire line more than a 2 out of 5 rating, it is best not to include this line in a deck.

Vanilluxe -- Plasma Freeze Pokemon Card Review

Vanilluxe Plasma Freeze Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Vanilluxe from the Plasma Freeze Pokemon Card Set.  Vanilluxe is a stage 2, water type Pokemon card, with an hp of 130.  It has a x2 weakness to metal type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Vanilluxe does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called ChillMAX, this move requires only one colorless energy card and does 60 damage times the number of heads you get when you flip a coin for each energy card attached to Vanilluxe.  Vanilluxe's second move is called Cold Breath, this move requires two energy cards, one each of water and colorless, and does 40 damage plus it puts the defending Pokemon to sleep.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Vanilluxe is a stage 2 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Vanillite into play and then evolve it into Vanillish before you can evolve Vanillish into Vanilluxe, both of those Pokemon are from this set and I've reviewed both of them the last couple of days.  The first two Pokemon in this line from Plasma Freeze are average to below average.  So with that in mind, if you choose to use Vanilluxe in your deck I would recommend evolving those Pokemon into Vanilluxe on your bench, that way you can attach as many energy cards as you'd like to Vanilluxe so you can potentially do 240 or more damage per turn, which would not out all Pokemon in the TCG to date.  I probably wouldn't use Vanilluxe in a deck just because the line as a whole isn't that great, but if I did use it in my deck, I would use just 1 of each Pokemon in the line, set up Vanilluxe on the bench, and get at least four energy cards on it.  I would move this card into the active Pokemon spot as soon as I get four energy cards on Vanilluxe then I would use ChillMAX every turn and hope I flip all heads.  You could also move this card into the active Pokemon spot when it only has two energy cards on it, put the defending Pokemon to sleep with Cold Breath then use ChillMAX after that when you keep adding energy cards to it.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an above average stage 2 Pokemon card from the Plasma Freeze Pokemon card set.  Usually I don't give above average ratings to Pokemon cards with moves that depend on coin flips but ChillMAX is an exception to my rule, plus Vanilluxe's other move is pretty good too.  I like that this card is quick, can do major damage, and has a low retreat cost.  So I would definitely recommend using Vanilluxe in a deck, however you have to play this card with both Vanillite and Vanillish, and overall I would give this entire line a 3 out of 5 rating, and might not be so likely to play this line in a deck.
