Kirlia -- Burning Shadows Pokemon Card Review

Kirlia Burning Shadows Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Kirlia from the Burning Shadows Pokemon Card set.  Kirlia is a Stage 1, Fairy type Pokemon card, with a HP of 80.  It has a x2 weakness to Metal type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to Darkness type Pokemon, and a one Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  This card does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move on this card is called Smack, for one Colorless Energy card, this move does 20 damage.  The second move on this card is called Magical Shot, for two Energy cards, one each of Fairy and Colorless, this move does 30 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Kirlia is a Stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Ralts into play (I reviewed Ralts from this set yesterday) and then evolve Ralts into Kirlia.  Ralts does have a Stage 2 evolution in Gardevoir GX, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, that you'll probably want to use with this Pokemon line but since I haven't reviewed that card yet, the strategy below will act like Kirlia is the final evolution in this line.  So if you read my review of Ralts, you'll know that I thought it was a below average Basic Pokemon card overall.  The card did have a solid HP, low retreat cost, and a move that required only one Energy, but I preferred the Ralts in the BREAKthrough set.  If you're building a Gardevoir GX deck, either card would work well, since you really never want to have anything other than Gardevoir GX in the Active Pokemon spot.  With that being said, the same thing goes for Kirlia, it is a decent card overall, with two moves that require little Energy, but this card, unlike Ralts, does have a below average HP, so it would be better if you're building a Gardevoir GX deck, to use fewer Kirlia cards and add in Rare Candy instead, that way you can jump from Ralts straight to Gardevoir GX.  This is the Kirlia card I use in my Gardevoir GX deck, again, I never want this card in the Active Pokemon spot, I use Guzma and Float Stone to get it out of the Active Pokemon spot.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is a below average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Burning Shadows set.  Although I use this card in my Gardevoir GX deck, it is not a Stage 1 Pokemon card that you ever want to use on its own, since it has a below average HP and two weaker moves.  Together with Ralts from this set, both cards get a 2 out of 5 rating, the same rating each card received individually.  It doesn't really matter what Ralts and Kirlia cards you use, because Gardevoir GX is so dominant.

Kirlia -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Kirlia BREAKthrough Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Kirlia from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card set.  Kirlia is a stage 1, psychic type Pokemon card, with an hp of 80.  It has a x2 weakness to psychic  type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Kirlia does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Beckon and for one psychic energy card it allows you to move a supporter card from your discard pile back into your hand.  Kirlia's second move is called Quick Turn and for two colorless energy cards does 30 damage times the number of heads you get when you flip two coins.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Kirlia is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Ralts into play (I reviewed Ralts from this set yesterday) and then evolve Ralts into Kirlia.  Kirlia does have two Stage 2 evolution forms in Gardevoir and Gallade, there is not a Gardevoir in this set but there is a Gallade card, which is a fighting type card and a card that I will be reviewing in the next couple of weeks.  Also, there are two Ralts cards from this set, the other is a fairy type card, I have reviewed the psychic type so far and thought that card was an average Basic Pokemon card, it could do a fair amount of damage for two energy cards and it could heal a great amount of damage for only one energy card.  So knowing this about the Ralts from this set and looking at Kirlia, I wouldn't use the two together without using either Gallade or Gardevoir.  So I would stick to either just Ralts as a starter type Pokemon giving you time to set up your bench Pokemon, or not using this line at all.  I say this because I am not that impressed by either move that Kirlia has, add in a low HP, and there is plenty of reason not to want to use this card in a deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is a below average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the BREAKthrough set.  I do like that this card has two moves, one that does damage and one that retrieves cards from the discard pile, however, this card has too low of an HP, its only move that can do damage is based off of a coin flip, and Kirlia's first move can be replaced by a trainer card.  So overall, I cannot recommend using this card in a deck and combined with the psychic type Ralts in this deck, would give a 2 out of 5 rating.

Kirlia -- Ancient Origins Pokemon Card Review

Kirlia Ancient Origins Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Kirlia from the Ancient Origins Pokemon Card set.  Kirlia is a stage 1, fairy type Pokemon card, with an hp of 80.  It has a x2 weakness to metal type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to darkness type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Kirlia does not have an Ability or Ancient Trait but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Calm Mind, for one colorless energy card this move heals 30 damage from Kirlia.  Kirlia's second move is called Magical Shot, for three energy, two colorless and one fairy, this move does 50 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Kirlia is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Ralts into play (I reviewed Ralts from this set yesterday) and then evolve Ralts into Kirlia.  Kirlia does have a Stage 2 evolution in Gardevoir, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, that you'll probably want to use with this Pokemon line but since I haven't reviewed that card yet, the strategy below will act like Kirlia is the final evolution in this line.  So if you read my review of Ralts, you'll know that I thought that card was a very solid Basic Pokemon card.  It had two good moves, a solid HP, and a low retreat cost, I had no problem using that card on its own as a starter type Pokemon in a fairy type deck.  So knowing this about Ralts and looking at this Kirlia card, I would recommend either sticking to just Ralts in a deck or seeing the entire line through the end by going with Gardevoir as well.  This card just doesn't do much for me, it has a below average HP, and only one move that can do any damage, this move does below average damage for the amount of energy it requires and this move is slow on the attack.  So I cannot recommend using this card in a deck without using Gardevoir.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is a below average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Ancient Origins set.  I like that this card has two moves and a low retreat cost, however this card just isn't very powerful, has a low HP, and neither move is very powerful.  Together with Ralts from this set, I can only give the two cards a 2 out of 5 rating.

Kirlia -- Legendary Treasures Pokemon Card Review

Kirlia Legendary Treasures Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Kirlia from the Legendary Treasures Pokemon Card Set.  Kirlia is a stage 1, psychic type Pokemon card, with an hp of 80.  It has a x2 weakness to psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Kirlia does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Mind Bend, for two energy cards, one each of psychic and colorless, this move does 20 damage, plus confuses the defending Pokemon if you get a heads when you flip a coin.  Kirlia's second move is called Spinning Attack, this move requires three energy cards, two colorless and one psychic, and does 40 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Kirlia is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Ralts into play (I reviewed Ralts from this set yesterday) and then evolve Ralts into Kirlia.  Kirlia does have a stage 2 evolution in Gardevoir which is in the Radiant Collection subset, but because I haven't reviewed that card yet I will act as though Kirlia is the final evolution in this family.  So if Kirlia is the final evolution in this line, I would stay away from both Ralts and Kirlia from this set.  I say this because Kirlia has a low hp, and only one decent move, so I wouldn't put it in a psychic type deck.  If you choose to use this card in a deck, I wouldn't use more than a 1-1 line of Ralts and Kirlia, I would try to evolve Ralts into Kirlia on the bench then use Spinning Attack every turn.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is a below average stage 1 Pokemon card.  Other than the low retreat cost and average move in Mind Bend, this card is not worthy at all of being used a in a deck, it has too low of hp, and Spinning Attack is an extremely disappointing move because it requires three energy cards and does way below average damage.  So looking at Ralts and Kirlia from the Legendary Treasures set together, I would give them a 1 out of 5 rating, each individually received 2 ratings from me, but together are not good at all, so stay away from this line.

Kirlia -- Plasma Storm Pokemon Card Review

Kirlia Plasma Storm Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Kirlia from the Plasma Storm Pokemon Card Set.  Kirlia is a stage 1, psychic type Pokemon card, with an hp of 80.  It has a x2 weakness to psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Kirlia does not have an Ability and it only has one move.  The only move it has is called Psy Bolt, this move requires one psychic energy card and does 20 damage, plus this move paralyzes the defending Pokemon if you get a heads when you flip a coin.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Kirlia is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Ralts into play (I reviewed Ralts from this set yesterday) and then evolve Ralts into Kirlia.  Kirlia does have a stage 2 evolution in Gallade (and Gardevoir which isn't in this set) that you'll probably want to use with this Pokemon line but since I haven't reviewed that card yet, the strategy below will act like Kirlia is the final evolution in this line.  So if you read yesterday's review, you'll know that I thought Ralts was a pretty poor basic Pokemon to use on its own in a deck, however if you want to use this Kirlia card, I would suggest using just a 1-1 line of Ralts and Kirlia in a psychic type deck.  I would try and keep Ralts on the bench and then evolving it as soon as possible then moving it into the active Pokemon spot and using Psy Bolt every turn.  The earlier you get this card in the active Pokemon spot the better, because if you are able to paralyze a couple of Pokemon you can setup your benched Pokemon more easily, plus since Kirlia only requires one energy card to attack it won't take long at all before you can start attacking.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an average stage 1 Pokemon card. Even though this card has a below average hp, I am still giving this card an average rating because I like that it does have a low retreat cost and that its only move is not only quick and does a decent amount of damage but it also inflicts paralysis on the defending Pokemon.  Overall, I would give the line of Ralts and Kirlia from the Plasma Storm set a 2 out of 5 rating, neither card is great, especially the Ralts card.
