Raikou -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:

Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Raikou from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Set.  Raikou is a basic, lightning type Pokemon card with an hp of 120, it has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to metal type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Raikou's Ability is called Shining Body and says that if Raikou has any lightning type energy attached to it, all damage done to Raikou by attacks is reduced by 20.  Besides the Ability, Raikou just has one move called Thunder Lance, and for three colorless energy cards this move does 50 damage plus 20 more damage for each lightning energy card attached to this Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Raikou is a basic Pokemon with no evolutions, you only have to use this Pokemon in your deck if you want to use this card.  With that being said, this card would be used as an attacker in the active Pokemon spot, so this is a great card to pair with Magnezone from yesterday since Magnezone can quickly get lightning type Pokemon set up.  I would make sure to put three lightning type energy cards on Raikou so that it can do 110 damage a turn with Thunder Lance plus it would reduce damage by 20 from attacks.  So if you're building a lightning type deck, I would definitely consider using this card in your deck, one potentially two of them.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a very good Basic Pokemon card from the BREAKthrough set.  Not only does this card have a high HP and a low retreat cost, but its Ability and only move work very well together making this card do well above average damage and reduce damage from attacks making Raikou's high HP seem even higher.  So like I said above, definitely consider this card when building a lightning type deck.
