Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Xatu from the Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Set. Xatu is a stage 1, psychic type Pokemon card, with an hp of 90. It has a x2 weakness to psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost. Xatu does not have an Ability but it does have two moves. The first move that this card has is Future Sight, for one colorless energy card this move allows you to look at either your own or your opponents top 5 cards of their deck and rearrange the cards in any way that'd you like. Xatu's second move is called Stressful Eye, this move requires two energy cards to use, one each of colorless and psychic, and does 30 damage, plus your opponent must show you their entire hand and you get to discard a Trainer card from their hand.
Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Xatu is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Natu into play (I reviewed both Natu cards from this set the past two days) and then evolve Natu into Xatu. If you've read my reviews of the Natu cards from this set, you'll know that neither was very good, the first one, without the Ancient Trait was a little better in my opinion since it had a higher HP, still low at 50, and a quicker move that could do 10 damage every turn. The second Natu card from this set had a great Ancient Trait called Plus, but it had an even lower HP than the first Natu card and was slower to attack. So knowing this about the two Natu cards from this set and looking at this Xatu card, I would recommend avoiding this entire line in TCG play. Unless you really want to know the strategy your opponent is trying to use or the cards they have in their deck and hand, I would not use this card at all. For a Stage 1 card, this card is pretty weak and neither move it has is very good. So like I said, unless you want to use this card to see what your opponent's strategy is, and if you do want to do this only use a 1-1 line, do not use Natu or Xatu from this set.
Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating. In my opinion this is a below average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Roaring Skies set. This card unlike the two Natu cards has an average HP, but that is all the better this card gets. Neither move this card has is very good, neither doing much for damage, more for detecting your opponent's strategy, I would much rather start attacking in a game than waste a couple of turns trying to figure out what the opponent is planning. So together with either Natu card from this set, I would give this Pokemon family a 1 out of 5 rating, definitely a very poor line overall.
