Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Deoxys from the Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Set. Deoxys is a basic, psychic type Pokemon card with an hp of 110, it has a x2 weakness to psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost. Deoxys does not have an Ability but it does have two moves. The first move that this card has is called Close Encounter, this move requires one colorless energy card and allows you to draw two cards. Deoxys' second move is called Overdrive Smash, this move requires two energy cards to use, one each of psychic and colorless, and does 30 damage, plus during Deoxys' next turn, Overdrive Smash does 60 more damage, for a total of 90 damage in one turn, 120 damage over two turns.
Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Deoxys is a basic Pokemon with no evolutions, you only have to use this Pokemon in your deck if you want to use this card. With that being said, the only reason I would use this card would be for its Overdrive Smash attack, this card can do major damage over two turns using that move and should knock most weaker, starter type Pokemon out in two turns. Close Encounter doesn't do much for me, I would rather include a trainer in my deck if I really wanted to draw cards. So if I were building a psychic type deck, I would consider putting 1 or 2 of these Deoxys cards in the deck and try and use them as starter type Pokemon, having a high HP like Deoxys does and a quick move should start the game off very smoothly for you and also give you some time to set up your benched Pokemon.
Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating. In my opinion, this is an average Basic Pokemon card from the Roaring Skies set. This card is pretty solid overall, with an above average HP and one good move of the two it has. This card definitely isn't the most powerful card out there, but could be used in a psychic type deck as a starter type Pokemon since it only requires two energy cards to attack.
