Leavanny -- Plasma Storm Pokemon Card Review

Leavanny Plasma Storm Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Leavanny from the Plasma Storm Pokemon Card Set.  Leavanny is a stage 2, grass type Pokemon card, with an hp of 140.  It has a x2 weakness to fire type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Leavanny does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move it has is called Cleave, this move requires two colorless energy cards and does 30 damage.  Besides doing the damage, if you get two heads when you flip two coins you may remove all the energy cards attached to the defending Pokemon.  Leavanny's second move is called Leaf Blade, this move requires three energy cards, two grass and one colorless, and does 70 damage plus 20 more damage if you get a heads when you flip a coin.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Leavanny is a stage 2 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Sewaddle into play and then evolve it into Swadloon before you can evolve Swadloon into Leavanny, both of those Pokemon are from this set and I've reviewed both of them the last couple of days.  Neither Sewaddle or Swadloon are very good, so neither should be in your deck if you don't plan on using Leavanny with them.  With that being said, if you want to use Leavanny in your deck, try your hardest to evolve into Leavanny on your bench.  You'll want to do this because Leavanny is a pretty good card so you'll want to start using it fresh without any damage on it in the active Pokemon spot, that way it should last several turns and should give you multiple opportunities to use Leaf Blade and possibly do 90 damage a turn.  So strategy with this card while in the active Pokemon spot is straight forward, use whichever move you have the energy for.  A desperation play may be using Cleave for its 25% chance of removing all energy cards from the defending Pokemon, this could really swing the momentum of the game if you flip two heads and the Pokemon your opponent set up will be back to start.  I would suggest using this card in a grass type deck, because the pre-evolutions of this Pokemon aren't the greatest I would try and use less than normal of these cards.  So I would recommend a 2-2-1 or 3-2-2 line of Sewaddle, Swadloon, and Leavanny.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an above average stage 2 Pokemon card. I definitely like this card, it has a good hp, average retreat cost, and two very powerful and quick moves.  Overall, I would give this line a 3 out of 5 rating, if only Sewaddle and Swadloon were a bit better this would have been an extremely awesome Pokemon family.

Swadloon -- Plasma Storm Pokemon Card Review

Swadloon Plasma Storm Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Swadloon from the Plasma Storm Pokemon Card Set.  Swadloon is a stage 1, grass type Pokemon card, with an hp of 80.  It has a x2 weakness to fire type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Swadloon does not have an Ability, but it does have two moves.  The first move it has is called Swaddle Guard, this move requires one colorless energy card and says that during your opponent's next turn, any damage they do to Swadloon is reduced by 40.  Swadloon's second move is called Surprise Attack, this move requires two colorless energy cards and does 40 damage.  However, when you use this move you must flip a coin, if you get a tails this move does nothing.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Swadloon is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Sewaddle into play (I reviewed Sewaddle from this set yesterday) and then evolve Sewaddle into Swadloon.  Swadloon does have a stage 2 evolution in Leavanny that you'll probably want to use with this Pokemon line but since I haven't reviewed that card yet, the strategy below will act like Swadloon is the final evolution in this line.  So if you read yesterday's review, you'll know that I thought Sewaddle was a below average basic Pokemon card that I more than likely would not use in a deck.  Considering how that card was and looking at this Swadloon card I would not recommend using this Pokemon line (so far) in a deck because neither card is very good and Swadloon is definitely worse as a stage 1 Pokemon than Sewaddle is as a basic Pokemon.  If you do choose to use this line in a deck, I would make sure that deck is a grass type deck and I would only use a 1-1 line.  I would try and include Cherrim in this deck to utilize its Ability which will make Swadloon's hp seem a little bit higher.  The only thing you can really do with this card when you get it into the active Pokemon spot is to use Surprise Attack and hope for a heads every turn.  The only time you would want to use Swaddle Guard is if it will prevent Swadloon from being knocked out, or you only have one energy card attached to this Pokemon.  But again, I would definitely not use Swadloon in a deck without using Leavanny.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 1 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is a very below average stage 1 Pokemon card. There really isn't anything good about this card if you're not going to use it with Leavanny.  Swaddle Guard is a good defensive move, but when Swadloon only has 80 hp to start this move really can't do too much, other than being defensive, Surprise Attack isn't good at all and more than likely will end up allowing you to do zero damage a couple of turns.  So, so far I would give this line, Sewaddle and Swadloon and 1 out of 5 rating, the first two evolutions in this line aren't good at all.

Sewaddle -- Plasma Storm Pokemon Card Review

Sewaddle Plasma Storm Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Sewaddle from the Plasma Storm Pokemon Card Set.  Sewaddle is a basic, grass type Pokemon card with an hp of 40.  It has a x2 weakness to fire type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Sewaddle does not have an Ability, and it only has one move.  The only move it has is called Bug Bite, this move requires one grass energy card and does 20 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Sewaddle is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Swadloon and a stage 2 evolution in Leavanny, which I'll be reviewing the next two days, you'll more than likely want to use those cards with this Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed those cards yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolutions.  So on its own, more than likely I would not use this card in a deck.  I wouldn't rule the possibility out, because Sewaddle can do 20 damage for one energy card but because of its low hp I would definitely be weary of using this card by itself.  If you do choose to use this card in a deck, I would suggest using it in a grass type deck and having a Cherrim in the deck so you can use its Ability and heal 20 damage a turn with that card.  That way, Sewaddle will have a more average hp.  You'll want to get Sewaddle into the active Pokemon spot as early as possible since it can attack quickly and do a good amount of damage as well.  The earlier you get this card in the game the better because you'll get knocked out pretty quickly if you put a basic Pokemon card into play that only has 40 hp later in the game when you're facing stage 1 and stage 2 Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a below average basic Pokemon card.  Like I said earlier in this review, I do like Sewaddle's move because it is quick and can do a good amount of damage, but because this card has such a low hp, it is definitely not a must have in any grass type deck out there.

Cherrim -- Plasma Storm Pokemon Card Review

Cherrim Plasma Storm Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Cherrim from the Plasma Storm Pokemon Card Set.  Cherrim is a stage 1, grass type Pokemon card, with an hp of 70.  It has a x2 weakness to fire type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to water type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Cherrim's Ability is called Fair-Weather Heal and says that once during your turn you may heal 20 damage from one of your Pokemon in play that has a grass energy card attached to it.  Besides the Ability, Cherrim just has one move called Random Peck, this move requires two energy cards, one each of grass and colorless, and does 20 damage plus 20 more damage for each heads you get when you flip two coins.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Cherrim is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Cherubi into play (I reviewed Cherubi from this set yesterday) and then evolve Cherubi into Cherrim.  If you read yesterday's review, you'll know that I thought Cherubi was an okay, but below average basic Pokemon card that I wouldn't recommend using on its own.  So because of this and the fact that the main reason you'll want to use Cherrim is for its Ability, I would try keeping Cherubi and Cherrim on the bench just so you can utilize Cherrim's Ability.  This card is very important to have in your grass type deck if you plan on using other grass type Pokemon from this deck because most of the ones I've reviewed lately from Plasma Storm have low HPs and will definitely need a booster in HP to survive for very long at all.  I would use a 2-1 or 2-2 line of Cherubi and Cherrim in a deck that has Pokemon that use grass energy cards.  If you're forced to put this card into the active Pokemon spot you won't have a choice but to use Random Peck every turn, which isn't a bad move.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an average stage 1 Pokemon card. This card does have a very good Ability and a decent move, but even though Cherrim's Ability will heal damage from Pokemon, you're going to have to end up using it on Cherrim if you put it into the active Pokemon spot because Cherrim has a very low hp for a stage 1 Pokemon.  So overall, this line is very average, I would give Cherubi and Cherrim combined a 3 out of 5 rating.
