Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Cherrim from the Plasma Storm Pokemon Card Set. Cherrim is a stage 1, grass type Pokemon card, with an hp of 70. It has a x2 weakness to fire type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to water type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost. Cherrim's Ability is called Fair-Weather Heal and says that once during your turn you may heal 20 damage from one of your Pokemon in play that has a grass energy card attached to it. Besides the Ability, Cherrim just has one move called Random Peck, this move requires two energy cards, one each of grass and colorless, and does 20 damage plus 20 more damage for each heads you get when you flip two coins.
Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Cherrim is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Cherubi into play (I reviewed Cherubi from this set yesterday) and then evolve Cherubi into Cherrim. If you read yesterday's review, you'll know that I thought Cherubi was an okay, but below average basic Pokemon card that I wouldn't recommend using on its own. So because of this and the fact that the main reason you'll want to use Cherrim is for its Ability, I would try keeping Cherubi and Cherrim on the bench just so you can utilize Cherrim's Ability. This card is very important to have in your grass type deck if you plan on using other grass type Pokemon from this deck because most of the ones I've reviewed lately from Plasma Storm have low HPs and will definitely need a booster in HP to survive for very long at all. I would use a 2-1 or 2-2 line of Cherubi and Cherrim in a deck that has Pokemon that use grass energy cards. If you're forced to put this card into the active Pokemon spot you won't have a choice but to use Random Peck every turn, which isn't a bad move.
Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating. In my opinion this is an average stage 1 Pokemon card. This card does have a very good Ability and a decent move, but even though Cherrim's Ability will heal damage from Pokemon, you're going to have to end up using it on Cherrim if you put it into the active Pokemon spot because Cherrim has a very low hp for a stage 1 Pokemon. So overall, this line is very average, I would give Cherubi and Cherrim combined a 3 out of 5 rating.
