Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Leavanny from the Plasma Storm Pokemon Card Set. Leavanny is a stage 2, grass type Pokemon card, with an hp of 140. It has a x2 weakness to fire type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost. Leavanny does not have an Ability but it does have two moves. The first move it has is called Cleave, this move requires two colorless energy cards and does 30 damage. Besides doing the damage, if you get two heads when you flip two coins you may remove all the energy cards attached to the defending Pokemon. Leavanny's second move is called Leaf Blade, this move requires three energy cards, two grass and one colorless, and does 70 damage plus 20 more damage if you get a heads when you flip a coin.
Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Leavanny is a stage 2 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Sewaddle into play and then evolve it into Swadloon before you can evolve Swadloon into Leavanny, both of those Pokemon are from this set and I've reviewed both of them the last couple of days. Neither Sewaddle or Swadloon are very good, so neither should be in your deck if you don't plan on using Leavanny with them. With that being said, if you want to use Leavanny in your deck, try your hardest to evolve into Leavanny on your bench. You'll want to do this because Leavanny is a pretty good card so you'll want to start using it fresh without any damage on it in the active Pokemon spot, that way it should last several turns and should give you multiple opportunities to use Leaf Blade and possibly do 90 damage a turn. So strategy with this card while in the active Pokemon spot is straight forward, use whichever move you have the energy for. A desperation play may be using Cleave for its 25% chance of removing all energy cards from the defending Pokemon, this could really swing the momentum of the game if you flip two heads and the Pokemon your opponent set up will be back to start. I would suggest using this card in a grass type deck, because the pre-evolutions of this Pokemon aren't the greatest I would try and use less than normal of these cards. So I would recommend a 2-2-1 or 3-2-2 line of Sewaddle, Swadloon, and Leavanny.
Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating. In my opinion this is an above average stage 2 Pokemon card. I definitely like this card, it has a good hp, average retreat cost, and two very powerful and quick moves. Overall, I would give this line a 3 out of 5 rating, if only Sewaddle and Swadloon were a bit better this would have been an extremely awesome Pokemon family.
