Yveltal -- Steam Siege Pokemon Card Review

Yveltal Steam Siege Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Yveltal from the Steam Siege Pokemon Card Set.  Yveltal is a basic, darkness type Pokemon card with a HP of 130, a x2 weakness to lightning type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to fighting type Pokemon, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Yveltal does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Oblivion Wing, for one darkness energy card this move does 30 damage, in addition to the damage, this move also lets you move a darkness energy card from your discard pile and attach it to one of your benched Pokemon.  Yveltal's second move is called Darkness Blade, for three energy cards, two darkness and one colorless, this move does 100 damage, however, if you get a tails when flipping a coin, Darkness Blade can not be used the next turn.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Yveltal is a basic Pokemon with no evolution forms, you only have to use this Pokemon in your deck if you want to use this card.  With that being said, this card does have a BREAK evolution which I'll be reviewing tomorrow that you may want to use with this card.  On its own, Yveltal could be a dominant starter type Pokemon in a darkness type deck since it can attack for only one energy card, or it could be set up on the bench and be used as a one hit knockout attacker late in the game with the use of Darkness Blade and a Trick Coin trainer to give you a better chance at being able to use this move every turn.  This card can also be used in a deck that requires attacking Pokemon to discard energy when attacking, you could use those Pokemon first, then retreat them, and use Oblivion Wing to get cards re-attached to them.  So overall, if you're building a darkness type deck, I would highly recommend taking a strong look at this card.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an above average Basic Pokemon card from the Steam Siege set.  If you're building a darkness type deck, this is a card you'll definitely want to use, this card has a well above average HP, and two great moves.  So look no further than this Yveltal card if you're looking for a strong darkness type Pokemon card to use in your deck.

Yveltal -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Yveltal BREAKthrough Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Yveltal from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Set.  Yveltal is a basic, darkness type Pokemon card with an hp of 130, it has a x2 weakness to lightning type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to fighting type Pokemon, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Yveltal's Ability is called Fright Night and says that as long as Yveltal is in the active Pokemon spot, Pokemon Tool cards in play have no effect.  Besides the Ability, Yveltal just has one move called Pitch-Black Spear, for three energy cards, two colorless and one darkness, this move does 60 damage, plus this move does 60 damage to one of your opponent's benched Pokemon EX.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Yveltal is a basic Pokemon with no evolutions, you only have to use this Pokemon in your deck if you want to use this card.  With that being said, this looks like a card which should only be used once in a deck, setting it up on the bench and waiting until your opponent gets an EX in play.  When that happens, you can move Yveltal into the active Pokemon spot and not only do 60 damage to the defending Pokemon, but 60 damage to that EX Pokemon as well.  With the popularity of EX Pokemon in the metagame, this move, Pitch-Black Spear, can be very effective.  But make sure any deck that has Yveltal in it, doesn't rely too heavily on Tool cards, as you can't use them when Yveltal is in the active Pokemon spot.  Since this card only requires one darkness energy card to attack, I would probably try and get a Special Energy card for the darkness energy card.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an above average Basic Pokemon card from the BREAKthrough set.  Other than being a little slow on the attack, this card is pretty good, having a well above average HP, and an above average move when EX Pokemon are in play.  But like I said above, the main reason you'd want to use this card in a deck is to combat EX cards, and this card does that perfectly, meaning you'll want to give this card a strong look when deck building.

Yveltal -- Pokemon X and Y Card Review

Yveltal Pokemon X and Y Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Yveltal from the X and Y Pokemon Card Set.  Yveltal is a basic, darkness type Pokemon card with an hp of 130, it has a x2 weakness to lightning type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to fighting type Pokemon, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Yveltal does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Oblivion Wing, this move requires one darkness energy card and does 30 damage.  Besides doing the 30 damage, this move also allows you to move a discarded darkness energy card to one of your benched Pokemon.  Yveltal's second move is called Darkness Blade, this move requires three energy cards, two darkness and one colorless, and does 100 damage.  However, when using this move, you must flip a coin, if you get a tails you can't attack during your next turn.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Yveltal is a basic Pokemon with no evolutions, you only have to use this Pokemon in your deck if you want to use this card.  With that being said, I definitely wouldn't base a deck around Yveltal alone because if you're aren't extremely lucky, this card isn't going to average more than 50 damage a turn, but this card could definitely be used in a deck but I wouldn't use more than 2.  You could try and use this card as a starter type Pokemon and use Oblivion Wing many times while setting up your benched Pokemon or you could set Yveltal up on the bench, put three energy cards on it and later in the game when you have plenty of energy cards in your discard pile you could move it into the active Pokemon spot and use Oblivion Wing to get those energy cards back, or you could use Darkness Blade to try and knock out your opponent's active Pokemon in one move.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an above average basic Pokemon card from the X and Y set.  The thing I like most about this card is its high hp but couple that with the fact it can do 30 damage from the get go with only one energy cards and this card is definitely going to be a staple in almost all darkness type decks out there.  Darkness Blade is a great move if you only plan on using it once and then retreating, but make sure to know that you may end up only being able to use that move once every other turn and averaging 50 damage a turn.  Overall this is a great card that should definitely be in plenty of decks.
