Watchog -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Watchog Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Watchog from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Set.  Watchog is a Stage 1, Colorless type Pokemon card, with a HP of 90. It has a x2 weakness to Fighting type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  This card does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move on this card is called Scrutinize, for one Colorless Energy card, this move allows you to discard one of the top two cards of your opponent's deck, after viewing their top two cards.  Slam is the name of this card's second move, for three Colorless Energy cards, this move does 60 damage times the number of heads when you get two coins.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Watchog is a Stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Patrat into play (I reviewed Patrat from this set yesterday) and then evolve Patrat into Watchog.  If you read yesterday's review of Patrat, you'll know that I thought it was a below average Basic Pokemon card overall.  The card did have a solid HP, low retreat cost, and two moves, but it required two Energy cards to do damage when attacking, and its first move could only look at your opponent's top card, so I stated that Patrat shouldn't be used on its own, instead you should either not use it in a deck at all, or you could set it up on the Bench to get to Watchog.  Knowing this about Patrat and looking at this Watchog card, unless you really want to see the cards in your opponent's deck, there is really no reason to use this line in a deck at all, especially if you're trying to use this card as an attacker, since Slam can't do any damage if you end up flipping two tails.  So although neither card in this line is terrible, I would probably pass on using this Pokemon family in a deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this card is a below average Stage 1 Pokemon card overall.  Similarly to Patrat, this card has a solid HP, a low retreat cost, and two moves, however, neither move on this card is that great.  Combine that with a below average Pokemon in Patrat from this set, and both cards from the Guardians Rising set get a 2 out of 5 rating from me.

Watchog -- Furious Fists Pokemon Card Review

Watchog Furious Fists Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Watchog from the Furious Fists Pokemon Card Set.  Watchog is a stage 1, colorless type Pokemon card, with an hp of 80.  It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Watchog does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Held-Item Inspection, this move requires one colorless energy card to use and allows you to see your entire opponent's hand, and lets you choose an item card they have and make them shuffle that card back into their deck.  Watchog's second move is called Thorough Crunch, this move requires two colorless energy cards and does 30 damage plus for each heads you get when flipping two coins, you get to discard an energy card attached to your opponent's active Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Watchog is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Patrat into play (I reviewed Patrat from this set yesterday) and then evolve Patrat into Watchog.  If you read yesterday's review of Patrat, you'll know that I thought that card was a way below average Basic Pokemon card because it only had one move and the only move it had allowed you to look at one of your prize cards, it couldn't do any damage at all.  So knowing this about Patrat and looking at this Watchog card, you'll want to use minimal of each card if you want to use this Pokemon family in your deck.  Neither card is great in this line, but if you put a 1-1 line in your deck, you could easily get Watchog into the active Pokemon spot a couple of turns into the game and then use Thorough Crunch every single turn, hopefully getting some heads and discarding some of your opponent's energy cards, thus allowing your team plenty of time to get set up, while your opponent cannot attack because they don't have enough energy cards.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an average to slightly below average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Furious Fists set.  Other than a lower HP, this card is definitely average overall.  I like that both moves can use any type of energy, and I especially like Thorough Crunch, it does average damage for the amount of energy cards it requires, but being able to discard energy cards is a big plus.  So overall, I would give this line a 2 out of 5 rating, it isn't that great, but if you can quickly evolve Patrat into Watchog, the line is definitely worth a look.  Individually Patrat was a 1, Watchog a 3.

Watchog #113/135 -- Plasma Storm Pokemon Card Review

Watchog Plasma Storm Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Watchog from the Plasma Storm Pokemon Card Set.  This is the second of two consecutive Watchog cards I've reviewed from this set.  Watchog is a stage 1, colorless type Pokemon card, with an hp of 90.  It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  This Watchog card does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  So so far, this card is identical to yesterday's Watchog card, we will see how the moves fair.  The first move this card has is called Second Bite, this move requires two colorless energy cards and does 20 damage plus 10 more damage for each damage counter on the defending Pokemon.  Watchog's second move is called Low Kick, this move requires three colorless energy cards and does 60 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Watchog is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get one of the two Patrat cards into play (I reviewed both Patrat cards from this set the past two days) and then evolve Patrat into Watchog.  Like I mentioned earlier, there are two Watchog cards from this set, and after reviewing both cards, I definitely prefer this one over the other Watchog card from the set.  If you read my Patrat reviews, you know that I'm not a fan of either, so this Watchog card has to be pretty special in order for me to use it with one of the Patrat's from Plasma Storm.  So if I were to use this card in a deck, I would use it in any deck, I would use a 1-1 or 2-2 line of Patrat and Watchog, and I would definitely try and set up Watchog on the bench, then move it into the active Pokemon spot and use Low Kick every turn until Second Bite does more damage to the defending Pokemon than Low Kick would.  I like this card better than yesterday's Watchog because even though it has the same stats, and yesterday's card is a bit quicker, I like both of this Watchog cards moves better and it can do way more damage overall.  I would actually use this card in a deck if I needed a couple more cards to reach 60 cards.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an average stage 1 Pokemon card.  This card compared to yesterday's Watchog card is leaps and bounds better but overall it is still an average card.  I like how this card fits into any deck and can do a fair amount of damage as long as you give the card some time to get set up.  Overall, if I were to rate the Patrat and Watchog cards from this set I would give them a 2 out of 5 rating, they are not good at all.

Watchog #112/135 -- Plasma Storm Pokemon Card Review

Watchog Plasma Storm Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Watchog from the Plasma Storm Pokemon Card Set.  This is the first of two consecutive Watchog cards I'll be reviewing from this set.  Watchog is a stage 1, colorless type Pokemon card, with an hp of 90.  It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  This Watchog card does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move this card has is called Fast Swipe, this move requires one colorless energy card and allows you to randomly discard a card from your opponent's hand.  Watchog's second move is called Biting Fang, this move requires two colorless energy cards and does 30 damage plus 20 more damage if you get a heads when you flip a coin.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Watchog is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get one of the two Patrat cards into play (I reviewed both Patrat cards from this set the past two days) and then evolve Patrat into Watchog.  Like I mentioned earlier, there are two Watchog cards from this set, so tomorrow I'll compare both cards.  If you read yesterday's review, you'll know that I thought both of the Patrat cards from this set were equally unimpressive, so I would not recommend using Watchog in a deck unless it was an amazing card which this one isn't.  So personally, I would not use this card in a deck.  However, if you choose to use Watchog and Patrat in a deck, I would include a 2-1 or 1-1 line max, try and keep Patrat on the bench, evolve it into Watchog, attach two energy cards to it, then use Biting Fang every turn, hoping for a heads.  Since this card is a colorless type card, it can fit in any deck, but I would only use this card as a very last resort.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is a below average stage 1 Pokemon card.  This card is below average in my opinion because even though it has a good retreat cost, solid hp, and two moves, there really isn't anything that stands out on this card.  Fast Swipe doesn't do anything for me, and Biting Fang, although somewhat quick, even if you get a heads every turn, 50 damage is around average for that type of move.  So coupled with the Patrat cards from this set, I'm giving this line so far, a 2 out of 5 rating.  I would not use Patrat or Watchog in a deck.

Tomorrow's Pokemon Card:
So thanks for reading today's Pokemon card review of Watchog from the Plasma Storm set, stay tuned for tomorrow's card review of the second Watchog card, which is from this same set.  Make sure to check below for the Free Pokemon TCG Online Codes!

Watchog -- Boundaries Crossed Pokemon Card Review

Watchog Boundaries Crossed Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Watchog from the Boundaries Crossed Pokemon Card Set.  Watchog is a stage 1, colorless type Pokemon card, with an hp of 90.  It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Watchog does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move this card has is called Hypnoblast, this move requires one colorless energy card and does 20 damage to the defending Pokemon plus puts that Pokemon to sleep.  Watchog's second move is called Psych Up, this move does 30 damage for two colorless energy turns, however if you choose to use this move two turns in a row, the second time you use Psych Up it does 60 damage instead of 30.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Watchog is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Patrat into play (I reviewed Patrat from this set yesterday) and then evolve Patrat into Watchog.  If you read yesterday's review, you'll know that I thought Patrat was a below average Pokemon card in this set, so even though I haven't reviewed this card yet, I would suggest using the Patrat from Plasma Storm numbered 111, on a side note, there are many Patrat cards from the Black and White sets but none of them are very good.  Because Patrat isn't the greatest, I would try and keep Patrat on the bench, start attaching energy cards to it and then evolve it into Watchog and put Watchog into the active Pokemon spot as early as possible.  I would do this because I want to be able to put the defending Pokemon to sleep and then have time to setup the rest of my benched Pokemon.  So I would actually use Hypnoblast most turns unless Psych Up would knock the defending Pokemon out.  Because Patrat isn't the greatest, I would use a 1-1 line of Patrat and Watchog in any type deck.  This line would be a nice addition to a deck that has a lot of Pokemon that inflict special conditions on the defending Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an above average stage 1 Pokemon card. Everything about this card is pretty good, it has an average hp, low retreat cost, and two good moves.  I like how this Pokemon card can attack very quickly and also put the defending Pokemon to sleep at the same time, that way you can set up your other Pokemon.  I also like the fact that both of Watchog's moves are quick and both do a good amount of damage.  So I would definitely recommend considering to use this Pokemon family in any deck you have.  Overall, I would give Patrat and Watchog a 3 out of 5 rating.

Watchog -- Emerging Powers Pokemon Card Review

Watchog Emerging Powers Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Watchog from the Emerging Powers Pokemon Card Set.  Watchog is a a stage 1, colorless type Pokemon card, that has an hp of 90.  It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Watchog doesn't have an Ability but it does have two moves, the first move is called Watcheck which takes one colorless energy card and lets you see the top 5 cards of your opponent's deck and rearrange them in any order you like.  Watchog's second move is called Quick Tail Smash and for two colorless energy cards it does 20 damage, however before you use this move you may flip a coin, if you get a heads this move does 80 damage total, but if you get a tails this move does nothing.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since this is a colorless type Pokemon card you're going to be able to put this card into any deck, since it can attack with any type of energy.  The strategy is very straightforward if you want to do some attacking with this card you'll have to use Quick Tail Smash because this is the only move of Watchog's that can do damage, the only time I would use Watcheck is if I don't have two energy cards attached to Watchog or the opponent specifically puts a card they want on the top of their deck.  I would flip a coin before using Quick Tail Smash more often than not, unless the defending Pokemon will be knocked in 40 damage or less.  I would only use a 2-1 line of Patrat and Watchog in any type deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a below average, stage 1 Pokemon card.  The reason I think this is because this card has the potential to do no damage at all, so if this card ends up not doing much damage at all it would be a waste to have in the deck, I would consider a plethora of other cards before putting this card in my deck, however if you get lucky this card can do 80 damage per turn for only two energy cards, it has an average hp, and low retreat cost.  But this card is too risky for me so I wouldn't use it.
