Stoutland -- Sun and Moon Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Stoutland from the Sun and Moon Pokemon Card Set.  Stoutland is a Stage 2, Colorless type Pokemon card, with a HP of 150.  It has a x2 weakness to Fighting type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a three Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Stoutland does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Ferocious Bellow, for three Colorless Energy cards this move does 50 damage, plus it makes the move your opponent uses during their next turn do 50 less damage.  Stoutland's second move is called Hammer In, for four Colorless Energy cards, this move does 120 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Stoutland is a Stage 2 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Lillipup into play and then evolve it into Herdier before you can evolve Herdier into Stoutland, both of those Pokemon are from this set and I've reviewed both of them the last two days.  If you've read my reviews of those cards you'll know that I thought both cards were below average overall.  Lillipup had a solid HP, and could do up to 40 damage per turn, but of the two moves it did have, only one could do damage, and that move required two Energy cards to attack.  Herdier was similar to Lillipup in that it had a solid HP and a low retreat cost, but Herdier's one move was slow and under-powered, the only reason you'd want to use the card was for its Ability, which you could utilize from the Bench.  So knowing this about the first two Pokemon in this line and looking at this Stoutland card, if you want to use this entire line in a deck, I would set it up on the Bench, therefore utilizing Herdier's Ability and making it so Stoutland can attack as soon as it gets into the Active Pokemon spot, also, I would recommend using 4 Double Colorless Energy cards in your deck, so Stoutland could do 120 damage for only two Energy cards.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an average Stage 2 Pokemon card from the Sun and Moon set.  With the caveat of using Double Colorless Energy cards as opposed to Basic Energy cards, this card is very solid overall, able to do above average damage for both of its moves and having the potential to fit into any type deck, as well as be a more defensive card with its Ferocious Bellow move.  Altogether, with Lillipup and Herdier from this set, I would give this line a 2 out of 5 rating, although Stoutland is solid, the first two Pokemon in this line weigh the entire line down too much.

Stoutland -- Pokemon X and Y Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Stoutland from the X and Y Pokemon Card Set.  Stoutland is a stage 2, colorless type Pokemon card, with an hp of 140.  It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a three colorless energy card retreat cost.  Stoutland does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Bite Off, this move requires three colorless energy cards and does 60 damage however if the defending Pokemon is an EX Pokemon, this move does 120 damage instead of 60.  Stoutland's second move is called Wild Barking, this move requires four colorless energy cards and does 80 damage plus 20 damage to one of your opponent's benched Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Stoutland is a stage 2 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Lillipup into play and then evolve it into Herdier before you can evolve Herdier into Stoutland, both of those Pokemon are from this set and I've reviewed both of them the last couple of days.  Both of these cards are average (Lillipup) or below average (Herdier) so both can potentially be used in a deck without Stoutland.  Because the first two Pokemon in this family are decent enough, I wouldn't include many Stoutland cards, definitely not more than 2, in my deck.  I say this because Stoutland has a much higher retreat cost than Herdier and Lillipup, and both of its moves are pretty slow to develop.  I myself would use a 3-2-1 line of Lillipup, Herdier, and Stoutland in a deck, I would try and use Lillipup and Herdier in the active Pokemon spot at the beginning of the game because both cards can do a fair amount of damage pretty quickly, and I would try and set up another line that ends with Stoutland on the bench and make sure to have three energy cards on it, so I could prevent my opponent from using an EX card, because if they choose to use one, I would immediately put Stoutland into the active Pokemon spot and use Bite Off every turn.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an average stage 2 Pokemon card from the X and Y set that is a very good defensive card against EX cards.  Not only would this card be able to knock out all EX cards in 2 moves but it may prevent your opponent from playing them altogether.  As much as I like this aspect of Bite Off, I'm just giving this card an average rating because neither move this card has is that great on its own, and this card does have a higher retreat cost.  Overall, I think this line is pretty average and should be considered for most decks.  I would give this Pokemon family a 3 out of 5 rating, individually I gave Lillipup and Stoutland 3 out of 5 ratings and Herdier a 2.

Stoutland -- Boundaries Crossed Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Stoutland from the Boundaries Crossed Pokemon Card Set.  Stoutland is a stage 2, colorless type Pokemon card, with an hp of 140.  It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a three colorless energy card retreat cost.  Stoutland's Ability is called Sentinel and it says that as long as Stoutland is your active Pokemon your opponent can't use any Supporter cards from their hand.  Besides the Ability, Stoutland just has one move entitled Wild Tackle.  This move requires three colorless energy cards and does 90 damage.  However when using this move you must flip a coin, if you get a tails, Stoutland does 20 damage to itself.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Stoutland is a stage 2 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Lilliput into play and then evolve it into Herdier before you can evolve Herdier into Stoutland, both of those Pokemon are from this set and I've reviewed both of them the last couple of days.  Neither Herdier or Lillipup are that good, so neither should be in your deck if you don't plan on using Stoutland with it.  With that being said, I think Stoutland should be used mainly for its Ability, but because this Ability is only in effect when Stoutland is in the active Pokemon spot you'll have to move this Pokemon into that spot when you can so your opponent will stop using Supporter cards.  I would try and evolve this Pokemon line on my bench, because Herdier and Stoutland both can do damage to themselves, so if you have to use these Pokemon in the active Pokemon spot too much, Stoutland's 140 hp may seem like much less.  Your only option when Stoutland is in the active Pokemon spot is to use Wild Tackle every turn and hope for some heads, also you'll want to hope that your opponent heavily relies on Supporter cards so this card will be much more effective.  Because Stoutland has such a high retreat cost, I would use this card until it gets knocked out, I wouldn't waste retreating it.  I would not use this Pokemon line in my deck, but if you choose to I would only use a 2-1-1 line of Lillipup, Herdier, and Stoutland in any type deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an average stage 2 Pokemon card. The card has a decent hp, an okay Ability, and a powerful move with consequences.  This card doesn't have to be in a deck and especially taking into account Stoutland's previous evolutions, I would not recommend using this line at all.  Overall, I would give this whole line a 2 out of 5 rating, they just don't cut it for my taste.

Stoutland -- Dark Explorers Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Stoutland from the Dark Explorers Pokemon Card Set.  This is a stage 2, colorless type Pokemon card, with an hp of 130.  It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a three colorless energy card retreat cost.  Stoutland doesn't have an Ability but it does have two moves, the first move is called Special Fang and for three colorless energy cards it does 40 damage plus 40 more damage if Stoutland has any special energy cards attached to it.  Stoutland's second move is called Ferocious Bellow and for four colorless energy cards this move does 60 damage and any attacks from your opponent during their next turn is reduced by 30.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, if you want to utilize Stoutland to its full strength you'll definitely want to have a special energy card attached to this card, that way you can do 80 damage every turn with Special Fang.  Since this card can use any type of energy card this card can fit into any deck, however I would not put four energy cards on Stoutland, I would only use three energy cards and use Special Fang every turn, I would only ever consider putting four energy cards on Stoutland if it was about to be knocked out and Ferocious Bellow would keep Stoutland alive for another turn and be able to knock out the defending Pokemon that turn.  If I were to use Stoutland in a deck, I would use a 3,2,1 line of Stoutland and its pre-evolutions.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  Even though Stoutland can do 80 damage every turn if it has a special energy card attached to it, I still don't think this card is any better than average.  It has a low hp for a stage 2 Pokemon, and a high retreat cost.  Also neither of its moves are too great, they are actually below average in terms of attack cost to actually damage done to the defending Pokemon.
