Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Shelmet from the Furious Fists Pokemon Card Set. Shelmet is a basic, grass type Pokemon card with an hp of 60. It has a x2 weakness to fire type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a three colorless energy card retreat cost. Shelmet does not have an Ability and it only has one move. The only move that this card has is called Jump On, this move requires one grass energy card and does 10 damage, plus if you get a heads when flipping a coin, the move does 10 more damage.
Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Shelmet is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Accelgor, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon. However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution. So, on its own this card would be pretty good if it didn't require three energy cards to retreat. If the retreat cost wasn't so high, you could use this card as a starter type Pokemon, put it into the active Pokemon spot to start the game, put one energy card on it, and be done with it and move on to setting up your benched Pokemon. But, if Shelmet gets in trouble, you either need to evolve it, or put two more energy cards on it just to retreat it. So if you can figure out a way to retreat this card for free, I would definitely recommend using this card in a deck, probably 2 of these cards, and put Shelmet into the active Pokemon spot early and use Jump On every single turn.
Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating. So in my opinion, this is a below average Basic Pokemon card from the Furious Fists set. Like I stated in the strategy section of this review, this card is pretty average other than its extremely high retreat cost which makes this card unusable. So if you can get over this high retreat cost, go ahead and use this card, if you can't, stay away from this card.
