Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Noivern from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Set. Noivern is a stage 1, dragon type Pokemon card, with an hp of 100. It has a x2 weakness to fairy type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost. Noivern does not have an Ability but it does have two moves. The first move that this card has is called Tuning, and for one colorless energy card this move allows you to shuffle your hand into your deck and draw a number of cards equal to the amount your opponent has in their hand. Noivern's second move is called Air Slash and for three energy cards, one each of psychic, darkness, and colorless, this move does 120 damage, however you must discard an energy card after using this card.
Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Noivern is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Noibat into play, there are two Noibat cards in this set, which are both colorless types, meaning I have not reviewed both yet, but will in the coming week or two. So only looking at this Stage 1 card and not taking into account how good or bad the Noibat cards are from this set, there are two strategies you may want to use with this card. The first strategy would be to use this card only for its Tuning move, it is basically a recycle type move, allowing you to get all new cards in your hand, you could use all of the cards you have up in your hand, move Noivern to the active Pokemon spot one turn, use Tuning, then retreat it the next turn, and do the same thing later in the game when you need better cards in your hand. The other strategy with this card is more of an attacker, so you'd first want to be building a psychic and darkness type deck, then you would set this card up on the bench and move it to the active Pokemon spot when you want to use Air Slash, unfortunately you'll have to discard an energy card each turn, but doing 120 damage a turn for three energy cards is quite good, but just like yesterday's dragon type card in Haxorus, I don't like the fact that you have to use three distinct energy types when attacking.
Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating. In my opinion, this is a very solid Stage 1 Pokemon card from the BREAKthrough set, but because it requires multiple types of energy to attack, I cannot give this card higher than a 3 out of 5 rating, but would highly recommend using this card if you're building a dual type deck. You'll have to wait and read my Noibat reviews to see which Noibat you should use with this card.
