Lampent -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Lampent Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Lampent from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card set.  Lampent is a Stage 1, Fire type Pokemon card, with a HP of 80.  It has a x2 weakness to Water type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Lampent does not have an Ability and it only has one move called Will-O-Wisp, for one Fire Energy card this move does 30 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Lampent is a Stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Litwick into play (I reviewed Litwick from this set yesterday) and then evolve Litwick into Lampent.  Litwick does have a Stage 2 evolution in Chandelure, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, that you'll probably want to use with this Pokemon line but since I haven't reviewed that card yet, the strategy below will act like Lampent is the final evolution in this line.  So if you read my review of Litwick, you'll know that I thought that card was a below average Basic Pokemon card overall, I did like that it had a low retreat cost and a move that could not only do damage but put the defending Pokemon Asleep, but with a below average HP and only having one move, the card wasn't recommended when deck building.  So knowing this about Litwick and looking at this Lampent card, this card is very similar in that it has a below average HP, only one move, and a low retreat cost.  Because Lampent is limited in having only one move, and its only move can only do a maximum of 30 damage, I would pass on using Lampent in a deck without also using Chandelure, there just is no reason to try and use this card in a deck since neither its HP or move are that great.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is a below average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Guardians Rising set.  Similarly to Litwick from yesterday, this card just isn't powerful enough, nor has the HP to be used in a deck, especially without Chandelure.  Because of this, both Litwick and Chandelure combined get the same rating that I gave each card individually, a 2 out of 5 rating.

Lampent -- Steam Siege Pokemon Card Review

Lampent Steam Siege Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Lampent from the Steam Siege Pokemon Card set.  Lampent is a stage 1, psychic type Pokemon card, with an HP of 80.  It has a x2 weakness to darkness type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to fighting type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Lampent does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Mirror Mirror, for one colorless energy card, each player draws or discards until they have 4 cards in their hand.  Lampent's second move is called Flickering Flames, for two energy cards, one each of colorless and psychic, this move does 20 damage and puts the defending Pokemon to sleep.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Lampent is a Stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Litwick into play (I reviewed Litwick from this set yesterday) and then evolve Litwick into Lampent.  Lampent does have a Stage 2 evolution in Chandelure, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, that you'll probably want to use with this Pokemon line but since I haven't reviewed that card yet, the strategy below will act like Lampent is the final evolution in this line.  So if you read my review of Litwick, you'll know that I thought it was a below average Basic Pokemon card, it really couldn't be used in a deck unless you had trainer cards or moves on cards that retrieved cards from the discard pile, if you did, Litwick would have been beneficial for the deck since it was able to discard two cards from your deck into your discard pile, thus allowing you to quickly get Pokemon you want into play.  But, since that card didn't have a move, it wasn't highly recommended.  So knowing this about Litwick and looking at this Lampent card, the first move this card has, Mirror Mirror, is similar to Litwick's move in that, it only works in certain situations, in this case, if you know you have lots of trainer cards to use or you know you won't have many cards in your hand, you can then draw the cards out of your deck, and have your opponent discard them, or if you want lots of cards in your discard pile, you could use Lampent's move when you have a full hand and discard several of the cards from your hand.  Besides that move, Lampent's Flickering Flames move is solid overall, I wish it would do a little more damage a turn, but putting the defending Pokemon to sleep is useful.  Overall, I can't recommend using either of the first two Pokemon in this line unless your deck will benefit from discarding Pokemon, if that is the case, use a 1-1 line of this Pokemon family.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is a below average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Steam Siege set.  I think if this card would have had a HP of 90, I would have gave this card an average rating, but because it is below average and the first move that this card has isn't that useful, this card is below average at best.  Together with Litwick from this set, which I gave a 2 rating, both cards get a 2 out of 5 rating.

Lampent -- Phantom Forces Pokemon Card Review

Lampent Phantom Forces Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Lampent from the Phantom Forces Pokemon Card set.  Lampent is a stage 1, psychic type Pokemon card, with an hp of 70.  It has a x2 weakness to darkness type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to fighting type Pokemon, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Lampent does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Cursed Drop, this move requires one psychic energy card and allows you to put 3 damage counters on your opponent's Pokemon any way that you would like.  Lampent's second move is called Night March, this move requires three energy cards, two colorless and one psychic, and does 20 damage times the number of Pokemon in your discard pile that have the Night March attack.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Lampent is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Litwick into play (I reviewed Litwick from this set yesterday) and then evolve Litwick into Lampent.  Lampent does have a stage 2 evolution in Chandelure that you'll probably want to use with this Pokemon line but since I haven't reviewed that card yet, the strategy below will act like Lampent is the final evolution in this line.  So if you read yesterday's review of Litwick, you'll know that I thought that card was a below average Basic Pokemon card, even though it could do up to 20 damage per turn, it was just too limited for my liking since it had a lower HP, and only one move that hinged off of a coin flip.  So knowing this about Litwick and looking at this Lampent card, the only way I would want to use this Pokemon in a deck would be if I'm building a spread damage type deck, then I would include a 1-1 line of Litwick and Lampent, get one energy card on Lampent once I evolve Litwick and spread damage around with Cursed Drop, the downfall however to doing this is you're going to have to add another energy card to Lampent to retreat it.  I would not consider putting three energy cards on Lampent without using Chadelure for two reasons, the first being Lampent has way too low of an HP to put three energy cards on and the second being to do any damage with Night March, some of your own Pokemon are going to have to be knocked out to even do 20 damage and I don't want this card in the active Pokemon spot late in games, I just don't trust it that much.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is a below average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Phantom Forces set.  I would only recommend using this card and Pokemon line in a spread damage type deck, other than that, it is a very poor card with two weaker moves, and a very low HP.  Individually I gave both Litwick and Lampent 2 out of 5 ratings, and that is what I feel both cards should received combined, stay away from this line if you can.

Lampent -- Plasma Freeze Pokemon Card Review

Lampent Plasma Freeze Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Lampent from the Plasma Freeze Pokemon Card Set.  Lampent is a stage 1, fire type Pokemon card, with an hp of 80.  It has a x2 weakness to water type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Lampent does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Live Coal, this move requires two colorless energy cards and does 20 damage.  Lampent's second move is called Searing Flame, this move requires three energy cards, two colorless and one fire, and does 40 damage, plus it burns the defending Pokemon.

So if you read yesterday's review, you'll know that I thought Litwick was a below average Pokemon that I would not recommend using on its own.  So after summarizing this Lampent card in the overview part of this post I can say that I would not use this card in the line of Litwick, Lampent, and Chandelure without really taking a good look at Chandelure first and never using the first two cards in this line without Chandelure.  For some reason if you choose to use this card in your deck, I would evolve Litwick into Lampent on the bench, put three energy cards on Lampent and then use Searing Flame whenever it is in the active Pokemon spot.  You may want to include this card in a deck that has other Pokemon that can burn your opponent's Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is a below average stage 1 Pokemon card. Even though this card has a low retreat cost and two moves I am still giving this card a below average rating because it has a low hp, and neither of its moves are very good.  Especially when looking at Litwick and Lampent from the Plasma Freeze set as a pair, they are not good at all, and together I would give a 1 out of 5 rating, both cards are below average and should not be used in a deck.

Lampent -- Plasma Storm Pokemon Card Review

Lampent Plasma Storm Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Lampent from the Plasma Storm Pokemon Card Set.  Lampent is a stage 1, fire type Pokemon card, with an hp of 70.  It has a x2 weakness to water type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Lampent's Ability is called Freefloating, this Ability says that if Lampent does not have any energy cards on it, its retreat cost is 0.  Besides the Ability, Lampent has only one move, this move is called Will-O-Wisp and for two energy cards, one each of fire and colorless, it does 20 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Lampent is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Litwick into play (I reviewed Litwick from this set yesterday) and then evolve Litwick into Lampent.  Lampent does have a stage 2 evolution in Chandelure, but there is not a Chandelure card in this set.  Because there is no Chandelure card in this set and I haven't recently reviewed a Chandelure card, I am going to act as though Lampent is the final evolution in this Pokemon line.  If this were the case I would definitely not use this Pokemon family at all in any type deck.  I say this because Lampent has an extremely low hp for a stage 1 Pokemon, plus the only move it has doesn't do much at all.  But if for some reason you want to use this line in your fire type deck, I would use no more than 1 each of Litwick and Lampent, I would evolve Litwick into Lampent as soon as possible then use Will-O-Wisp when you can.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 1 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is a dreadful stage 1 Pokemon card, it is definitely one of the worst stage 1 cards I have seen in quite awhile and I would advise everyone to stay away from this card.  I do not like this card's hp, Ability, or only move.  Altogether, I would rate Lampent and Litwick from this set a 1 out of 5 rating, definitely two poor Pokemon cards from the Plasma Storm set.
