Honchkrow -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Honchkrow from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Set.  Honchkrow is a Stage 1, Darkness type Pokemon card, with a HP of 110. It has a x2 weakness to Lightning type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to Fighting type Pokemon, and a one Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Honchkrow does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move on this card is called Feint Attack, for one Darkness Energy card this move does 30 damage to one of your opponent's Pokemon.  Raven's Claw is this card's second move, for two Colorless Energy cards, this move does 10 damage plus 10 more damage for each damage counter on all of your opponent's Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Honchkrow is a Stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Murkrow into play (I reviewed Murkrow from this set yesterday) and then evolve Murkrow into Honchkrow.  If you read yesterday's review of Murkrow, you'll know that I thought it was an average Basic Pokemon card overall.  I liked how the card had an above average move and could attack quickly, doing 10 damage to your opponent's Active Pokemon for one Energy card, and making your opponent switch their Active Pokemon after receiving damage.  So knowing this about Murkrow and looking at this Honchkrow card, both cards in this line would work best in a spread attack type deck.  So you could still use Murkrow as a starter type Pokemon, or you could set this line up on the Bench, spread damage around, using a different Pokemon, then when you put Honchkrow into the Active Pokemon you should be able to do massive damage with Raven's Claw.  Even if you aren't using this card in a spread attack type deck, I still like Feint Attack on this card, since it can do 30 damage to any of your opponent's Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an above average Stage 1 Pokemon card overall.  Other than not being able to do major damage before your opponent's Pokemon have received lots of damage previously, I still think this card is above average overall and would be a good card to use in a spread attack type deck.  Combined with Murkrow from this set, I would give both cards a 4 out of 5 rating, this is a great line to use in the spread attack deck.

Honchkrow -- Phantom Forces Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Honchkrow from the Phantom Forces Pokemon Card Set.  Honchkrow is a stage 1, darkness type Pokemon card, with an hp of 100.  It has a x2 weakness to lightning type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to fighting type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Honchkrow does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Hypnoblast, this move requires one darkness energy card and does 20 damage and puts the opponent's active Pokemon to sleep.  Honchkrow's second move is called Nightmare Mambo, this move requires three energy cards, two colorless and one darkness, and does 60 damage, plus it does 60 more damage if the defending Pokemon is asleep.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Honchkrow is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Murkrow into play (I reviewed Murkrow from this set yesterday) and then evolve Murkrow into Honchkrow.  If you read yesterday's review of Murkrow, you'll know that I thought that card was an average Basic Pokemon card, it could do damage for only one energy card or you could choose to put 3 energy cards on it and do even more damage.  So knowing this about Murkrow and looking at this Honchkrow card, I would definitely recommend using a 1-1 line of Murkrow and Honchkrow in a darkness type deck.  Both of these Pokemon together could get you attacking early in the game and if you get Honchkrow into the active Pokemon spot soon enough, put the defending Pokemon to sleep.  I would definitely try and use Hypnoblast first then Nightmare Mambo second to do 140 damage over two turns, of course if the defending Pokemon only has 120 HP or less, there is no point in using Hypnoblast first unless you don't want that defending Pokemon to attack you.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an above average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Phantom Forces set.  This card is definitely a great card to use in your deck, it has an above average HP, low retreat cost, and two moves that both work well together, one putting the defending Pokemon to sleep (and doing damage) and the other doing double the damage if the defending Pokemon is asleep.  So together with Murkrow from this set, I would give this line a 4 out of 5 rating, it is definitely worth a long look at using this Pokemon family in a darkness type deck.

Honchkrow -- Dragons Exalted Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Honchkrow from the Dragons Exalted Pokemon Card Set.  Honchkrow is a stage 1, darkness type Pokemon card, with an hp of 110.  It has a x2 weakness to electric type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to fighting type Pokemon, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Honchkrow does not have an Ability but it does have two moves, its first move is called Whirlwind and for two colorless energy cards this move does 30 damage and you may have your opponent switch out their active Pokemon with one of their benched Pokemon.  Honchkrow's second move is called Diving Swipe and for three energy cards, two colorless and one darkness, this move does 70 damage and you get to discard a random card from your opponent's hand.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Honchkrow is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Murkrow into play (I reviewed Murkrow from this set yesterday) and then evolve Murkrow into Honchkrow.  If you read yesterday's review, I think Honchkrow is an excellent starter Pokemon so it should probably be in your active Pokemon spot when you evolve Murkrow into Honchkrow, once you have Honchkrow in the active Pokemon spot, I would use Diving Swipe every turn because it does a ton of damage.  The only way I would use use Whirlwind is if I only have two energy cards attached to Honchkrow or I'm using Honchkrow in a spread damage type deck, that way I could use Whirlwind almost every turn and have my opponent bring in new active Pokemon from their bench every turn.  Both of the Pokemon in this line are great, so I would recommend using a 2-2 line in a darkness type deck, but make sure to note these Pokemon don't require many darkness type energy cards so they may be able to fit in almost any type deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an above average stage 1 Pokemon card.  This means that both the Pokemon in this line from Dragons Exalted are both above average and I would definitely recommend using this line in your deck.  What I specifically like about this card is that it has a good hp, and it has two great moves that not only do damage but something more, Whirlwind can spread damage, and Diving Swipe does above average damage and makes your opponent discard a card from their hand.  So once again I would highly recommend using this card.
