Heliolisk -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Heliolisk Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Heliolisk from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Set.  Heliolisk is a Stage 1, Lightning type Pokemon card, with a HP of 100. It has a x2 weakness to Fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to Metal type Pokemon, and a one Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Heliolisk does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move on this card is called Quick Attack, for one Colorless Energy card this move does 20 damage plus 20 more damage if you get a heads when flipping a coin.  Raging Thunder is the name of the second move on this card, for three Energy cards, one Lightning and two Colorless, this move does 120 damage, however the move also does 30 damage to one of your Benched Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Heliolisk is a Stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Helioptile into play (I reviewed Helioptile from this set yesterday) and then evolve Helioptile into Heliolisk.  If you read yesterday's review of Helioptile, you'll know that I thought it was an average Basic Pokemon card overall.  Other than being limited by having only one move, the card was solid overall, with an average HP, low retreat cost, and one move that could do damage and inflict a Special Condition.  So knowing this about Helioptile and looking at this Heliolisk card, you could certainly use a 1-1 line of this family, using Helioptile as a starter type Pokemon, then evolving it as soon as possible to do up to 40 damage a turn with Quick Attack.  Raging Thunder is probably a move that I would set up on the Bench, and also make sure to have a Pokemon on your Bench that either has a really high HP, has an Ability to remove damage, or does more damage with more damage on itself, that way you could utilize this move multiple times without harming your own Pokemon too much.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average Stage 1 Pokemon card overall.  This card really doesn't have any negatives, since it has a high HP, low retreat cost, and two moves, one that attacks quickly and the other that is a little slower but can do major damage.  I would recommend using this line in a Lightning type deck, especially if you can pawn off 30 damage a turn on one of your Benched Pokemon without doing too much harm to it.  Together with Helioptile from this set, which I gave a 3 out of 5 rating, these two cards get a 3 out of 5 rating combined.

Heliolisk -- Phantom Forces Pokemon Card Review

Heliolisk Phantom Forces Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Heliolisk from the Phantom Forces Pokemon Card Set.  Heliolisk is a stage 1, lightning type Pokemon card, with an hp of 90.  It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to metal type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Heliolisk does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Pound, for one lightning energy card this move does 30 damage.  Heliolisk's second move is called Parabolic Spark, this move requires two energy cards, one each of lightning and colorless, and does 30 damage times the number of lightning energy cards you choose to discard from all of your Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Heliolisk is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Helioptile into play (I reviewed both Helioptile cards from this set the past few days) and then evolve one of those Helioptile cards into Heliolisk.  If you read both of my reviews on Helioptile, I thought they both were average cards, it just depends on the type of card you like to use.  The first Helioptile card in this set was a little slower on the attack but could do up to 50 damage a turn, the second Helioptile card could do only 20 damage a turn but could attack for only one energy card. I personally liked the first Helioptile card better, but if you choose to use Helioptile with Heliolisk it probably won't matter much as you'll try to evolve Helioptile right away.  I would mainly try and use this Pokemon line in the beginning of a game and probably use Pound most turns, or just stick with the first Helioptile card and try and do 50 damage a turn.  Heliolisk's Parabolic Spark move could do major damage, but you'll want to make sure you have a way to get the lightning type energy cards you discarded back into your hand or deck before using that move at all.  If I were to use this Pokemon family in a deck, I would include a 2-1 line of the first Helioptile card and Heliolisk.  I would try my luck with Helioptile at the start of the game by attaching a Trick Coin tool to it before evolving it into Heliolisk.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Phantom Forces set.  This card has an average HP, low retreat cost, and two average moves.  I do like how quick Heliolisk is in attacking being able to do 30 damage for only one energy card, but Parabolic Spark will take some time to set up, and probably is too risky of a move for me, I wouldn't want to remove 3 or 4 energy cards from my own Pokemon just to attack with Heliolisk.  So overall, if you're building a lightning type deck, you can't really go wrong with using any of the Pokemon in this line from this set.  I gave every card a 3 out of 5 rating, and that is what I'm giving the line combined.

Heliolisk -- Flashfire Pokemon Card Review

Heliolisk Flashfire Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Heliolisk from the Flashfire Pokemon Card Set. Its first move is called Parabolic Charge, this move requires one colorless energy card and allows you to search your deck for up to 2 energy cards, and put them into your hand.  Heliolisk's second move is called Quick Attack, this move requires three energy cards, two colorless and one lightning, and does 60 damage, plus 30 more damage if you get a heads when you flip a coin.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Heliolisk is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Helioptile into play (I reviewed Helioptile from this set yesterday) and then evolve Helioptile into Heliolisk.  If you read yesterday's review of Helioptile, you'll know that I thought that card was a below average Basic Pokemon card even though it had two moves and a good hp, but both of the moves on the card were below average and the card was quite limited without using it with an evolution.  So knowing this about Helioptile and summarizing Heliolisk in the previous section, I wouldn't for sure use this Pokemon line in a deck, but if I did, I would only use a 1-1 line.  I would try and get Helioptile into the active Pokemon spot to start the game, use that card for one turn doing 10 damage, then evolve it into Heliolisk the next turn, then get three energy cards onto Heliolisk and use Quick Attack every turn.  This card definitely has the possibility to do a great amount of damage every single turn, so it definitely be good to have this card in your deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Flashfire set.  I like the fact that this card has a low retreat cost, average hp, and two moves, with Quick Attack having the potential to do a ton of damage.  So overall, this Pokemon line of Helioptile and Heliolisk from the Flashfire set get a 3 out of 5 rating from me, individually I gave the Pokemon a 2 and 3 ratings respectively.  So if you're looking to add one more Pokemon line to your lightning type deck, you should definitely give this line a look.
