Gothorita -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Gothorita from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card set.  Gothorita is a Stage 1, Psychic type Pokemon card, with a HP of 80.  It has a x2 weakness to Psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Gothorita does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move on this card is called Slap, for one Psychic Energy card this move does 20 damage.  Psybeam is this card's second move, for two Energy cards, one each of Psychic and Colorless, this move does 30 damage and it confuses the defending Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Gothorita is a Stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Gothita into play (I reviewed Gothita from this set yesterday) and then evolve Gothita into Gothorita.  Gothita does have a Stage 2 evolution in Gothitelle, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, that you'll probably want to use with this Pokemon line but since I haven't reviewed that card yet, the strategy below will act like Gothorita is the final evolution in this line.  So if you read my review of Gothita, you'll know that I thought it was an average Basic Pokemon card overall, it had a solid HP, low retreat cost, and one move that can do 10 damage to any of your opponent's Pokemon, the only problem with this card is that it is limited in only having one move, so later in games it isn't that good.  So knowing this about Gothita and looking at this Gothorita card, if you're using Gothita as a starter type Pokemon, you could easily evolve it and do more damage quickly with this card, up to 30 damage per turn plus you can Confuse the defending Pokemon.  Neither move on this card is that great though, and with only 80 HP, it may be best to either use Gothita on its own, or use the entire line.

Pokemon Card Rating:  
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is a below average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Guardians Rising set.  Although this card does have two decent moves, because it has a low HP and can only do 30 damage per turn, it is slightly below average overall, especially as a Stage 1 Pokemon.  Combined with Gothita from this set, I would give the two cards a 2 out of 5 rating, both are solid overall, but neither are spectacular.

Gothorita -- Furious Fists Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Gothorita from the Furious Fists Pokemon Card set.  Gothorita is a stage 1, psychic type Pokemon card, with an hp of 80.  It has a x2 weakness to psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Gothorita does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Fortunate Eye, this move requires one colorless energy card to use and allows you to look at the top 5 cards of your opponent's deck and arrange them in any order that you'd like.  Gothorita's second move is called Smack, this move does 30 damage for two energy cards, one each of psychic and colorless.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Gothorita is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Gothita into play (I reviewed Gothita from this set yesterday) and then evolve Gothita into Gothorita.  Gothorita does have a stage 2 evolution in Gothitelle that you'll probably want to use with this Pokemon line but since I haven't reviewed that card yet, the strategy below will act like Gothorita is the final evolution in this line.  So if you read yesterday's review of Gothita, you'll know that I thought that card was a below average Basic Pokemon card because it had a lower HP, and even though it did have two moves, neither could do more than 10 damage.  Because of this, I didn't recommend using Gothita in a deck on its own.  So knowing this about Gothita and looking at this Gothorita card, unless you really want to mess with your opponent and rearrange the top of their deck by using Fortunate Eye, I wouldn't recommend using this card in a deck either.  I say this because Gothorita has a low HP, and neither move on this card is that great, Smack is a pretty average move.  However, if you choose to use the first two Pokemon in this line, I would move Gothita into the active Pokemon spot right away, do 10 damage with that then evolve Gothita into Gothorita as soon as possible, then depending on if you want to mess with your opponent's cards, either use Fortunate Eye, or Smack.  I would use Smack most turns if I had this card in the active Pokemon spot.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is a below average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Furious Fists set.  Because this card has a low HP and two average to below average moves is why I'm giving this card a below average rating and not recommending to use this card in a deck.  Together with Gothita from this set, I would give the two cards a combined rating of 2 out of 5, just like the rating each card received individually.

Gothorita -- Boundaries Crossed Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Gothorita from the Boundaries Crossed Pokemon Card Set.  Gothorita is a stage 1, psychic type Pokemon card, with an hp of 80.  It has a x2 weakness to psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Gothorita does not have an Ability, but it does have two moves.  The first move it has is called Psypunch, which requires 2 colorless energy cards and does 30 damage.  Gothorita's second move is called Destructive Beam which requires three energy cards, two colorless and one psychic, and does 50 damage, plus if you get a heads when you flip a coin, you can discard an energy card attached to the defending Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Gothorita has a stage 2 evolution in Gothitelle (from Dragons Exalted), I would not use this card unless you use Gothitelle.  I say this because, I view this card as pretty weak, and there is no reason to use a weak card in a deck, especially when I think Gothita is pretty good, you don't want to turn a good Pokemon card into a below average Pokemon card.  But I guess if you either have to play Gothorita in order to use Gothitelle or you're just stubborn and have Gothorita in your deck, the strategy is quite simple.  If you have two energy cards on Gothorita use Psybeam, if you have three energy cards on Gothorita use Destructive Beam.  This card even though it isn't that good, does fit well in most decks because it requires mostly colorless energy cards, it really only needs one psychic energy card for either of its moves to attack.  But again, I would prefer to just use Gothita or use the full line of this Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a below average stage 1 Pokemon card.  This card has a below average hp, and two below average moves.  This card definitely could be worse, but I would not recommend using this card in a deck if you don't have to.  So if I were to rate just Gothita and Gothorita from this set I would give them an overall rating of 3.

Gothorita -- Dragons Exalted Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Gothorita from the Dragons Exalted Pokemon Card Set.  Gothorita is a stage 1, psychic type Pokemon card, with an hp of 80.  Gothorita is the stage 1 evolution of Gothita, there is a Gothita card in this set and I reviewed that card yesterday, Gothorita's stage 2 evolution is Gothitelle and I'll be reviewing that card tomorrow.  Gothorita has a x2 weakness to psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Gothorita does not have an Ability but it does have two moves, the first move is called Hypnoblast which requires one psychic energy card and does 10 damage plus it puts the defending Pokemon to sleep.  Gothorita's second move is called Mind Shock and for three energy cards, two colorless and one psychic, this move does 40 damage and this move isn't affected by weakness or resistance.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since this is a stage 1 Pokemon, you'll first have to evolve Gothita into Gothorita to use this card.  You can actually put Gothita into the active Pokemon spot since it isn't too bad of a card, but I would recommend keeping it on your bench and evolving it into Gothorita, once that happens I would still recommend keeping this Pokemon on the bench because it doesn't have a very high hp and neither of its moves can do much damage, at least for the amount of energy that it requires.  I would recommend getting three energy cards on Gothorita, evolving it into Gothitelle and then moving actually moving it into the active Pokemon spot.  If I had to put Gothorita into the active Pokemon spot, my strategy would be to use Hynoblast first to put the defending Pokemon to sleep, then use Mind Shock every turn after that.  I would not use Gothita and Gothorita in a deck on their own, I would only use this Pokemon line if I wanted to use Gothitelle.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 1 out of 5 rating.  This is a well below average, stage 1 Pokemon card.  I would stay away from this card at all costs...unless of course you want to use Gothitelle, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow.  This card has way too low of hp, and two terrible moves, so I would not ever put this card into the active Pokemon spot if I didn't have to.

Gothorita #46/98 -- Emerging Powers Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Gothorita from the Emerging Powers Pokemon Card Set.  This is the second of two consecutive Gothorita cards I'll be reviewing from this set.  Gothorita is a stage 1, psychic type Pokemon card, with an hp of 80.  It has a x2 weakness to psychic type Pokemon, no resistance, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  This Gothorita card does not have an Ability but it does have two moves, the first move is called Deleting Glare which takes one psychic energy card and if you get a heads when you flip a coin, lets you remove an energy card from your opponent's Pokemon and put it in their discard pile.  Gothorita's second move is called Super Psy Bolt and for three energy cards, two colorless and one psychic, it does 50 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since this is a stage 1 Pokemon card that has a stage 2 evolution in Gothitelle, I would recommend keeping Gothorita on the bench and evolving it into Gothitelle before putting it into play, I would do this because Gothitelle can do much more damage than Gothorita and it has a higher hp.  There are two Gothitelle cards in this set, and I've reviewed both of them on my blog previously.  If you have to put Gothorita into play, I would recommend using Super Psy Bolt every turn since it is the only move on this card that actually does damage.  Now, after reviewing both cards, if you think you're going to have to move Gothorita into the active Pokemon spot before evolving it into Gothitelle, I would recommend using this card since it can do more damage, and since it is slower, once you do evolve into Gothitelle it can attack right away, but yesterday's Gothorita card can do damage faster and more consistent plus confuse the defending Pokemon, so I would recommend using 1 each of the Gothorita cards from this set if you're looking to use Gothitelle in a psychic type deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  This card fairs about as well as yesterday's Gothorita card, both cards are very similar, with similar hp, weakness, and retreat costs.  This card can do more damage than yesterday's card but it is slower, whereas yesterday's card is quicker and can confuse the defending Pokemon, however neither cards are great and I would not recommend using them unless you want to use Gothitelle in your deck.

Gothorita #45/98 -- Emerging Powers Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Gothorita from the Emerging Powers Pokemon Card Set.  This is the first of two consecutive Gothorita cards I'll be reviewing from this set.  Gothorita is a stage 1, psychic type Pokemon card, with an hp of 80.  It has a x2 weakness to psychic type Pokemon, no resistance, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  This Gothorita card does not have an Ability but it does have two moves, the first move is called Double Slap and for one colorless energy card it does 20 damage times the number of heads you get when you flip two coins.  Gothorita's second move is called Psybeam which does 20 damage for two energy cards, one each of psychic and colorless, plus this move confuses the defending Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since this is a stage 1 Pokemon card that has a stage 2 evolution in Gothitelle, I would recommend keeping Gothorita on the bench and evolving it into Gothitelle before putting it into play, I would do this because Gothitelle can do much more damage than Gothorita and it has a higher hp.  There are two Gothitelle cards in this set, and I've reviewed both of them on my blog previously.  If you have to put Gothorita into play, I would recommend using Psybeam for sure the first turn so you can for sure do some damage and confuse the defending Pokemon, then depending on how lucky you're feeling would determine if you would use Double Slap which has the potential to do 40 damage, or Psybeam which does 20 damage every turn the next turn.  If I were to use Gothorita in a deck, I would make sure to include Gothitelle in that deck, and either have a 4-3-2 or 3-2-1 line of Gothita, Gothorita, and Gothitelle.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is a sub-par stage 1 Pokemon card, the only thing I like about this card is that it can confuse the defending Pokemon, other than that, this card has a low hp, and neither of its moves can do much damage at all.  So again, if you're not using Gothitelle in your deck, don't use Gothorita.
