Amoonguss -- Plasma Storm Pokemon Card Review

Amoonguss Plasma Storm Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Amoonguss from the Plasma Storm Pokemon Card Set.  Amoonguss is a stage 1, grass type Pokemon card, with an hp of 90.  It has a x2 weakness to fire type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to water type Pokemon, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Amoonguss does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move it has is called Astonish, this move requires one colorless energy card and let's you flip a coin, if you get head you get to choose three cards from your opponent's hand at random and have them move those cards back into their deck.  Amoonguss's second move is called Miracle Powder, this move requires two energy cards, one each of grass and colorless and does 30 damage, plus if you get a heads when you flip a coin, you may inflict any type of special condition you would like on that Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Amoonguss is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Foongus into play (I reviewed Foongus from this set yesterday) and then evolve Foongus into Amoonguss.  If you read yesterday's review, you'll know that I thought Foongus was dreadful and I didn't recommend using it at all.  There are actually several Foongus card from the Black and White sets and the one I would recommend would be the one from Noble Victories, this card does 20 damage for only one energy card, however it does only have 40 hp.  So whichever Foongus you choose to use, hopefully not the Plasma Storm one, I would still keep Foongus on the bench if possible because they all have such a low hp, I would then evolve Foongus into Amoonguss, attach two energy cards to it and then move it into the active Pokemon spot at an opportune time.  I would try and use Miracle Powder every turn, each time inflicting a different special condition for each heads that I would get.  If you use the Noble Victories Foongus, I would suggest using a 2-2 line of Foongus and Amoonguss in a deck that includes lots of Pokemon that can inflict special conditions on your opponent's Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is a very solid, yet average stage 1 Pokemon card.  I like its hp, retreat cost, and one of its moves, still, just like Foongus's Astonish move, I would rather have a move on this card that does some damage and does something for sure every turn instead of something that requires a coin flip.  So overall, if I was to grade the Foongus and Amoonguss cards from this set, I am going to give them a 2 out of 5 rating, the below average rating is because Foongus from this set is so so bad.

Foongus -- Plasma Storm Pokemon Card Review

Foongus Plasma Storm Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Foongus from the Plasma Storm Pokemon Card Set.  Foongus is a basic, grass type Pokemon card with an hp of 40.  It has a x2 weakness to fire type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to water type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Cherubi does not have an Ability, and it only has one move.  The only move Foongus has is called Astonish, this move requires one colorless energy card and forces you to flip a coin, if and only if you get a heads you can move a random card from your opponent's hand back into their deck.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Foongus is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Amoonguss, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution.  So on its own, I would not use Foongus in a deck on its own.  I say this because Foongus has a terribly low hp, and only one move, and a pretty bad one at that.  If for some reason you have to put this card in your deck, I would keep it out of the active Pokemon spot at all times, because the only thing you can do if you're in the active Pokemon spot if wait until it gets knocked out while trying to move some cards from your opponent's hand into their deck, and that is only if you're lucky.   I would not include this card in any deck of mine and you shouldn't either, especially without Amoonguss.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 1 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a dreadful basic Pokemon card.  This card is one of the worst cards I've reviewed in awhile, I do not like it at all.  To start, it has a low hp, and to finish this card can't do any damage, and the only thing it can do, move a card from your opponent's hand to their deck, isn't a for sure thing and won't do as much as discarding would have done.  Stay away from this card at all costs.

Maractus -- Plasma Storm Pokemon Card Review

Maractus Plasma Storm Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Maractus from the Plasma Storm Pokemon Card Set.  Maractus is a basic, grass type Pokemon card with an hp of 90. It has a x2 weakness to fire type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to water type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Maractus does not have an Ability, but it does have two moves.  The first move it has is called Dazzle Dance, this move requires one grass energy card and does 10 damage plus this move confuses the defending Pokemon.  Maractus's second move is called Ambush, this move requires two energy cards, one each of colorless and grass, and does 20 damage, this move does 30 more damage if you get a heads when you flip a coin.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Maractus is a basic Pokemon with no evolutions, you only have to use this Pokemon in your deck if you want to use this card.  In my opinion, this would be a perfect starter Pokemon card to include in a grass type deck.  It has two moves so you can attack right away plus it can do a good amount of damage with its second move.  I would include 2 to 4 Maractus in a grass type deck and put one into the active Pokemon spot as soon as possible in the game.  You can move this card into the active Pokemon spot immediately because it has a move that requires only one energy card and it has a high hp so it can withstand several attacks.  I would first use Dazzle Dance to confuse the defending Pokemon then the next turn use Ambush to try and do 50 damage.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 5 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an amazing basic Pokemon card from the Plasma Storm Pokemon Card set.  If you're looking for a grass type starter Pokemon to use in your deck, look no further than this card!  This card has a high hp, low retreat cost, and two good moves.  You definitely can't go wrong by using this card in your grass type deck.

Leavanny -- Plasma Storm Pokemon Card Review

Leavanny Plasma Storm Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Leavanny from the Plasma Storm Pokemon Card Set.  Leavanny is a stage 2, grass type Pokemon card, with an hp of 140.  It has a x2 weakness to fire type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Leavanny does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move it has is called Cleave, this move requires two colorless energy cards and does 30 damage.  Besides doing the damage, if you get two heads when you flip two coins you may remove all the energy cards attached to the defending Pokemon.  Leavanny's second move is called Leaf Blade, this move requires three energy cards, two grass and one colorless, and does 70 damage plus 20 more damage if you get a heads when you flip a coin.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Leavanny is a stage 2 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Sewaddle into play and then evolve it into Swadloon before you can evolve Swadloon into Leavanny, both of those Pokemon are from this set and I've reviewed both of them the last couple of days.  Neither Sewaddle or Swadloon are very good, so neither should be in your deck if you don't plan on using Leavanny with them.  With that being said, if you want to use Leavanny in your deck, try your hardest to evolve into Leavanny on your bench.  You'll want to do this because Leavanny is a pretty good card so you'll want to start using it fresh without any damage on it in the active Pokemon spot, that way it should last several turns and should give you multiple opportunities to use Leaf Blade and possibly do 90 damage a turn.  So strategy with this card while in the active Pokemon spot is straight forward, use whichever move you have the energy for.  A desperation play may be using Cleave for its 25% chance of removing all energy cards from the defending Pokemon, this could really swing the momentum of the game if you flip two heads and the Pokemon your opponent set up will be back to start.  I would suggest using this card in a grass type deck, because the pre-evolutions of this Pokemon aren't the greatest I would try and use less than normal of these cards.  So I would recommend a 2-2-1 or 3-2-2 line of Sewaddle, Swadloon, and Leavanny.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an above average stage 2 Pokemon card. I definitely like this card, it has a good hp, average retreat cost, and two very powerful and quick moves.  Overall, I would give this line a 3 out of 5 rating, if only Sewaddle and Swadloon were a bit better this would have been an extremely awesome Pokemon family.
