Weezing -- Fates Collide Pokemon Card Review

Weezing Fates Collide Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Weezing from the Fates Collide Pokemon Card Set.  Weezing is a stage 1, psychic type Pokemon card, with an hp of 110. It has a x2 weakness to psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a three colorless energy card retreat cost.  Weezing does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Balloon Bomb, for two colorless energy cards this move allows you to discard the top 2 cards from your opponent's deck for each heads you get when you flip 2 coins.  Weezing second move is called Thick Liquid and for three energy cards, two colorless and one psychic, this move does 80 damage, however the move does confuse and poison both active Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Weezing is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Koffing into play (I reviewed Koffing from this set yesterday) and then evolve Koffing into Weezing.  If you read yesterday's review of Koffing, you'll know that I thought it was a very poor Basic Pokemon card, mainly because it couldn't do any damage when attacking and the only move it did have just allowed you to put more Koffing cards into play.  So knowing this about Koffing and looking at this Weezing card, unless you're specifically trying to beat your opponent by making them use all of the cards in their deck, I would avoid this line entirely.  Weezing is slow on the attack and has a high retreat cost so it doesn't make sense to use more than 1 in a deck, therefore making Koffing that much worse.  Thick Liquid does do above average damage, but you will need to include Trainer cards in your deck or have Pokemon with Abilities to heal Weezing all of the time if you want to use that move at all.  So again, I would recommend staying away from this line entirely.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a below average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Fates Collide set.  Even though this card has plenty of positives, like a high HP, and two moves, this card just isn't that good overall with a very high retreat cost, two slower moves, and just lots of additional cards needed for this card to be useful.  Together with Koffing from this set, I can only give this line a 1 out of 5 rating, it is very poor and not recommended to use.

Weezing -- Plasma Storm Pokemon Card Review

Weezing Plasma Storm Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Weezing from the Plasma Storm Pokemon Card Set.  Weezing is a stage 1, psychic type Pokemon card, with an hp of 100.  It has a x2 weakness to psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Weezing's Ability is called Aftermath and says that if Weezing is knocked out by your opponent, your opponent must discard the top 3 cards of their deck. Besides the Ability, Weezing has one move called Smogbank, this move requires two energy cards, one each of psychic and colorless, and does 20 damage to each of your opponent's Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Weezing is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get one of the two Koffing cards from this set into play (I reviewed both of those cards the past few days) and then evolve Koffing into Weezing.  If you read the past couple of reviews you'll know that I like both Koffing cards from this set and that depending on the strategy you're going to use in your deck will determine which one you'll use, but whichever Koffing card you have will more than likely work well with Weezing.  Because both Koffing cards are good in this set you can move it into the active Pokemon spot right away, however I would try and have it so Weezing is on your bench and you can then move it into the active Pokemon spot towards the end of the game so if your opponent knocks Weezing out they may end up losing if they run out of cards in their deck.  This card would work perfectly in a spread damage type deck, just use Smogbank every turn.  Because Weezing is good at the start of games using Smogbank and at the end of games by utilizing its Ability, I would probably use a 3-2 line of Koffing and Weezing in a psychic type deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 5 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an above average stage 1 Pokemon card and a Pokemon line that I would definitely include in a psychic type deck.  I love how this Weezing card has an above average hp, a great Ability that will hopefully prevent your opponent from attacking you, then a very good move that does damage to every single one of your opponent's Pokemon in play.  If I was to knock this card at all, it would be for its retreat cost which is two energy cards.  Overall, you can't go wrong with using this Pokemon family from the Plasma Storm set in your deck, I give the entire line a 5/5 rating.
