Vulpix -- Evolutions Pokemon Card Review

Vulpix Evolutions Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Vulpix from the XY Evolutions Pokemon Card Set.  Vulpix is a basic, fire type Pokemon card with a HP of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to water type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Vulpix does not have an Ability and it only has one move.  The only move that this card has is called Confuse Ray, for two fire energy cards this move does 20 damage, plus if you get a heads when flipping a coin, this move confuses the defending Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Vulpix is a basic Pokemon card with a Stage 1 evolution in Ninetales, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution.  So, on its own, Basic Pokemon like Vulpix are looked at as starter type Pokemon, since this card can't attack for one energy card, it fails this test.  So to me, the only way I would recommend using Vulpix in a deck is if you plan on using Ninetales, and even then, I would set up the line on the bench.  Ideally, you would use a Stadium card or some type of Ability to have all energy be fire type energy, and then put one Double Colorless energy card on this card to make it able to attack for only one energy turn.  I guess, at worst, this card is still playable in a deck, it just takes a turn longer than you want to start attacking, but when it is set up, does do average damage plus inflicts a special condition.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Ninetales, this is an average to slightly below average Basic Pokemon card overall.  Like I mentioned in the strategy section of this post, the big knock on this card is that it can't attack for one energy card, but when set up, this card is solid overall, and if you're desperate enough to use it on its own, or have it in the active Pokemon spot before using Ninetales, this card can do some damage and potentially prevent damage on Vulpix and do even more damage to your opponent's active Pokemon.

Vulpix -- Primal Clash Pokemon Card Review

Vulpix Primal Clash Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Vulpix from the Primal Clash Pokemon Card Set.  Vulpix is a basic, fire type Pokemon card with an hp of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to water type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost. Vulpix does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Roar, this move requires one colorless energy card to use and makes your opponent switch their active Pokemon with one of their benched Pokemon.  Vulpix's second move is called Gnaw, this move requires one fire energy card to use and does 10 damage.

So, on its own, this card could be used, if you need a starter type Pokemon in a fire type deck, or if you are using a spread damage type deck, and one of your Pokemon does damage to those Pokemon that already have damage on them, in this case, I would get Vulpix into the active Pokemon spot to start the game, do Gnaw one turn, then Roar the next to hopefully spread damage onto several of the opponent's Pokemon, the only downfall of this strategy is that the opponent gets to decide the Pokemon they put into the active Pokemon spot.  Like I said, this card could also be used as a starter type Pokemon since it can do 10 damage for one energy card, but I would probably hold back on doing so just because this card is quite limited in what it can do.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Ninetales, this card is a slightly below average Basic Pokemon card from the Primal Clash set.  Even though I wouldn't highly recommend using this card in a deck, outside of the fact it can only do 10 damage a turn, this card does have a low retreat cost, average HP, and two moves, both moves being at least average.  So if you're building a deck and need a Basic Pokemon card to use in it, this card is at least worth a look.

Vulpix -- Legendary Treasures Pokemon Card Review

Vulpix Legendary Treasures Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Vulpix from the Legendary Treasures Pokemon Card Set.  Vulpix is a basic, fire type Pokemon card with an hp of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to water type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Vulpix does not have an Ability and it only has one move.  The only move that this card has is called Firebreathing, for two energy cards, one each of fire and colorless, this move does 20 damage, plus if you get a heads when you flip a coin the move does 10 more damage.

So on its own, this card could be used on its own since it has a decent hp and can do 20+ damage per turn.  Because this card requires two energy cards to attack instead of one, I would not use more than one of these cards on its own in a fire type deck, but this card is definitely usable in a deck on its own.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average basic Pokemon card from the Legendary Treasures set. Even though this card can't attack right away, everything else about the card is pretty good, solid hp, low retreat cost, and above average move.  So if you're building a fire type deck and need one more basic Pokemon card in it, this card would do the trick.

Vulpix -- Dragons Exalted Pokemon Card Review

Vulpix Dragons Exalted Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Vulpix from the Dragons Exalted Pokemon Card Set.  Before I start the review, let me just say I am extremely happy to be reviewing an original Pokemon again, instead of all these new Black and White Pokemon.  Vulpix is a basic, fire type Pokemon card, with an hp of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to water type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Vulpix does not have an Ability, and it only has one move which is called Singe and for one fire energy card it burns the defending Pokemon.  Just to let you know, when a Pokemon is burned, between each turn, the player whose Pokemon is burned must flip a coin, if they get tails they have to put 2 damage counters on their burned Pokemon, if they get a heads the Pokemon is still burned but that player does not have to put any damage on their burned Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since this is a basic Pokemon card with an evolution in Ninetales, I would not put this card into the active Pokemon spot unless I evolved it into Ninetales first, I would keep Vulpix on the bench and attach one energy card to it, since Ninetales only needs one energy card to attack.  If you have to move Vulpix to the active Pokemon spot, you'll have to use Singe every turn, which won't make much sense because you can't double burn an already burned Pokemon, so if you have to move Vulpix into the active Pokemon spot you'll want to evolve Vulpix into Ninetales immediately that next turn.  Tomorrow, after reviewing Ninetales I'll have a better idea how many of each Pokemon in this line to use in a deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  This Pokemon card is a slightly below average, basic Pokemon card.  There are two good/average things about this card, the first is its hp, the second is its retreat cost.  However, Vulpix is extremely ineffective once you've already burned the defending Pokemon, so that is why I'm giving this card a low rating.
