Riolu -- Burning Shadows Pokemon Card Review

Riolu Burning Shadows Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Riolu from the Burning Shadows Pokemon Card Set.  Riolu is a Basic, Fighting type Pokemon card with a HP of 70.  It has a x2 weakness to Psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  This card does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move on this card is called Punch, for one Fighting Energy card, this move does 10 damage.  The second move on this card is called Low Kick, for two Fighting Energy cards, this move does 30 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Riolu is a Basic Pokemon card with a Stage 1 evolution in Lucario, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution.  So, on its own, you never really just want to use a Basic Pokemon like this without using its evolution form, with that being said, Riolu is a pretty solid starter type Pokemon for a deck, especially if you're using Strong Energy in your deck.  You could do 30 damage or more the first turn you can attack during a battle with Punch, or if you can keep this card on the Bench to start the game, use a Max Elixir to get a Fighting Energy on it, then attach a Strong Energy and Guzma it into the Active Pokemon spot, with Regirock EX on your Bench, this card can do 60 damage the first turn of the game, which will knock out many Basic Pokemon out there.  So this card definitely has some potential, and if you're using Lucario in your deck, this is an excellent Riolu to use with that line.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Lucario, this is a very solid Basic Pokemon card.  Comparing this to other Basic Pokemon out there with a Stage 1 evolution, this is one of the better ones, especially since it is a Fighting type Pokemon and can utilize lots of other cards to increase its attack power.  One thing that makes this card stand out is that it has 70 HP instead of 60, so it is a little harder to knock out.  So again, if you're building a deck that includes Lucario, this is the Riolu to use.

Riolu 46/124 -- Fates Collide Pokemon Card Review

Riolu Fates Collide Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Riolu from the Fates Collide Pokemon Card Set.  This is the second Riolu card that I've reviewed from this set.  Riolu is a basic, fighting type Pokemon card with a HP of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to Psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Riolu does not have an Ability and it only has one move called Smash Punch, this move does 30 damage for one fighting energy card, however you must flip a coin when using this move and if you get a tails the move does nothing.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Riolu is a Basic evolution form with a Stage 1 evolution in Lucario, you'll more than likely want to use Riolu with Lucario, one of which I'll be reviewing tomorrow and the second Lucario card in a couple of weeks, however since I haven't reviewed Lucario right I'll just review this card as if I'd be using it on my own, but I will be comparing it to yesterday's Riolu card.  So, on its own, strategy-wise, this card would have to be used as a starter type Pokemon since it has 60 HP and a move that is quick on the attack.  If you attach a Trick Coin trainer to this card which gives you two chances at getting a heads, this card is a quick attacker that does well above average damage, so you should start the game with this card in the active Pokemon spot and use Smash Punch every turn.  As far as the two Riolu cards go, I like yesterday's card a little better, since it has a higher HP and has a better chance of doing damage every turn, both neither card is a must use for a fighting type deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Lucario, this is an average Basic Pokemon card.  I am giving this Riolu card the same rating as I gave yesterday's Riolu, both are solid overall and both require coin flips to do damage, this card has the potential to do more damage but yesterday's card has a little better chance at doing damage consistently.

Riolu 45/124 -- Fates Collide Pokemon Card Review

Riolu Fates Collide Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Riolu from the Fates Collide Pokemon Card Set.  This is the first of two Riolu cards that I'll be reviewing from this set.  Riolu is a basic, fighting type Pokemon card with an hp of 70.  It has a x2 weakness to Psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Riolu does not have an Ability and it only has one move called Double Smash that for one colorless energy card does 10 damage times the number of heads you get when flipping two coins.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Riolu is a Basic evolution form with a Stage 1 evolution in Lucario, you'll more than likely want to use Riolu with Lucario, however because there are two Riolu cards in this set, I will review the second one tomorrow then state which one I would recommend in play, then there are two Lucario cards from this set, one fighting type and one metal type that I'll compare and contrast.  But, since I haven't reviewed any of those other cards yet, in this review I'll just act like I'm only considering this specific Riolu card and will try and use it on its own.  On its own, this card can definitely be used in a deck since it requires only one energy to attack, has a higher HP, and can do above average damage.  There is also merit in not using this card at all since it is based off of a coin flip.  But I could see using at least one of these cards in any type deck, putting a Trick Coin trainer on this card and doing up to 20 damage a turn to start the game while setting up my benched Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Lucario, this is an average Basic Pokemon card.  Even though this card's only move is based off of coin flips, I still would recommend this card because even if you have average luck, the move should do 10 damage a turn.  So when looking for Basic Pokemon cards to use for your deck, this one deserves consideration.

Riolu #76/135 -- Plasma Storm Pokemon Card Review

Riolu Plasma Storm Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Riolu from the Plasma Storm Pokemon Card Set.  This is the second of two consecutive Riolu cards I've reviewed from this set.  Riolu is a basic, fighting type Pokemon card with an hp of 70.  It has a x2 weakness to psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  So everything between the two Riolu cards from this set are the same so far.  Like yesterday's card, Riolu does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move this card has is called Kick, this move requires two colorless energy cards and does 20 damage.  Riolu's second move is called Feint, this move requires three energy cards, two colorless and one fighting, and does 40 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Riolu is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Lucario, which I'll be reviewing the next two days, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution.  So on its own, this Riolu card would be an okay basic Pokemon card to use in your deck.  Because this card is a little slower to attack you'll want to keep this card on your bench until you get at least two energy cards on it so you can move it into the active Pokemon spot right away and starting using Kick, then when you get three energy cards on Riolu you can use Feint.  Compared to yesterday's card, I like this one less, especially if you aren't going to use this card with Lucario, I would use yesterday's card because it can attack quicker.  If you want to use a card similar to this one in your fighting type deck, there are plenty of Legendary, fighting type basic Pokemon cards out there that have a higher hp and can do more damage for the same amount of energy cards.  So I probably wouldn't use this card on its own in a deck, I would use the other Riolu card from this set, however this card really isn't that bad so you could use it for sure and not do too bad with it.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average basic Pokemon card.  Even though this card has an above average hp and a low retreat cost I am giving this card an average rating because it is a little worse than the other Riolu card in this set, and even though this card has two moves, both require a fair amount of energy cards, so I would rather go with a Pokemon that has a slightly lower hp but can attack quicker.

Riolu #75/135 -- Plasma Storm Pokemon Card Review

Riolu Plasma Storm Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Riolu from the Plasma Storm Pokemon Card Set.  This is the first of two consecutive Riolu cards I'll be reviewing from this set.  Riolu is a basic, fighting type Pokemon card with an hp of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Riolu does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move this card has is called Punch, this move requires one colorless energy card and does 10 damage.  Riolu's second move is called Kick, this move does 20 damage for two energy cards, one each of fighting and colorless.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Riolu is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Lucario, which I'll be reviewing in two days, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, there are actually two Lucario cards in this set, and I have not reviewed the other Riolu card from this set, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution or knowing anything about the other Riolu card from this set.  So on its own, this Riolu card would be a very good starter Pokemon card to add to your fighting type deck.  Since this card has two moves, both requiring small amounts of energy cards, you can move this card into the active Pokemon spot to start the game, use Punch right away, then Kick the turns after that.  If I were going to use this card in my deck, I would include 2 to 4 of these in the deck in hopes to start the game with this card in my active Pokemon spot.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an above average basic Pokemon card.  This card is really good as a starter Pokemon because it has two moves and a move that can do 20 damage every turn for only two energy cards.  There really isn't any negatives about this card other than the normal things related to a basic Pokemon card, like not being able to do a massive amount of damage or having a high hp.  So again, I would definitely use this card in my deck.
