Probopass -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Probopass Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Probopass from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Set.  Probopass is a Stage 1, Metal type Pokemon card, with a HP of 130. It has a x2 weakness to Fire type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to Psychic type Pokemon, and a four Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Probopass does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move on this card is called Energy Link, for one Metal type Energy card this move does 30 damage, plus, this move allows you to attach an Energy card from your discard pile to Probopass.  This card's second move is called Power Gem, for four Colorless Energy cards, this move does 120 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Probopass is a Stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Nosepass into play (I reviewed Nosepass from this set yesterday) and then evolve Nosepass into Probopass.  If you read my review of Nosepass, you'll know that I thought it was a well below average Basic Pokemon card overall.  Even though the card had a high HP, and two moves, with the potential to do 60 damage per turn, this card was too slow to set up, and under-powered overall, plus its retreat cost was very high.  So knowing this about Nosepass and looking at this Probopass card, you'll of course want to set this line up on the Bench, especially because both Pokemon in this line have such high retreat costs.  If you're using 4 Double Colorless Energy cards in your deck, I could potentially see using a 1-1 line of this Pokemon family, and being able to do 120 damage per turn for only two Energy cards.  Otherwise, both Pokemon in this line are too slow to attack, and both under-powered.  I do like, however, how you can attach a Special Energy card to Probopass with its Energy Link move.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Guardians Rising set overall.  Despite its extremely high retreat cost, and the amount of Energy required to attack, in certain situations this card can be quite good, especially when using Double Colorless Energy cards.  Together with Nosepass from this set, which I gave a 1 out of 5 rating, I would give both cards combined a 2 out of 5 rating.

Probopass -- Steam Siege Pokemon Card Review

Probopass Steam Siege Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Probopass from the Steam Siege Pokemon Card Set.  Probopass is a stage 1, fighting type Pokemon card, with a HP of 120. It has a x2 weakness to grass type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a four colorless energy card retreat cost.  Probopass does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Bounce Back, for one fighting energy card this move does 40 damage, plus your opponent must switch their active Pokemon with one of their benched Pokemon.  Probopass' second move is called Rock Tomb, for three energy cards, two colorless and one fighting, this move does 80 damage, and it makes the defending Pokemon unable to retreat during its next turn.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Probopass is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Nosepass into play (I reviewed Nosepass from this set yesterday) and then evolve Nosepass into Probopass.  If you read yesterday's review of Nosepass, you'll know that I thought it was a below average Basic Pokemon card overall.  The card did have a good HP, and two moves, but neither move that the card had was very good, and its retreat cost was two colorless energy cards instead of just one.  This Probopass card profiles similarly to that card, in that it has a high HP, two moves, and a high retreat cost.  Rock Tomb is a solid move on Probopass, and you could use it for only two energy cards if you use a Double Colorless energy with it, but, unless you have a Switch trainer, you're going to have to add energy just to retreat it.  Bounce Back is a good move for spread attack type decks, but the high retreat cost on this card makes it hard to just use Probopass for that move.  Altogether, I could see using a 1-1 line of this Pokemon family in a deck, setting up the line on the bench and then either battling until Probopass is knocked out, or working out a way to retreat it for free.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Steam Siege set.  Outside of having an extremely high retreat cost, this card is solid overall, with a high HP, and two good moves.  Together with Nosepass from this set, which I gave a 2 rating, this line combined gets a 3 out of 5 rating.

Probopass -- Primal Clash Pokemon Card Review

Probopass Primal Clash Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Probopass from the Primal Clash Pokemon Card Set.  Probopass is a stage 1, metal type Pokemon card, with an hp of 110.  It has a x2 weakness to fire type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to psychic type Pokemon, and a three colorless energy card retreat cost.  Probopass does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Triple Smash, for one metal energy, this move does 30 damage times the number of heads you get when you flip 3 coins.  Probopass's second move is called Reinforced Nose, this move requires three energy cards to use, two metal and one colorless, and does 50 damage plus 50 more damage if a Pokemon Tool card is attached to it.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Probopass is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Nosepass into play, I reviewed Nosepass a couple of weeks back since it was a fighting type Pokemon, and then evolve Nosepass into Probopass.  If you read my review of Nosepass, you'll know that I thought it was a well below average Basic Pokemon, it did have a good HP, but other than that, neither move it had was that great, both were slow, and both were underwhelming.  So knowing this about Nosepass and looking at this Probopass card, you'll definitely want to set this line up on the bench if you want to use it in your deck, since Nosepass is pretty poor.  You'll definitely want to attach a Trick Coin trainer card to this card so Triple Smash has a better chance of doing more damage, other than that, this card isn't worth putting three energy cards on unless you are using Pokemon Tool cards in your deck and thus can do 100 damage a turn with Reinforced Nose.  I personally wouldn't use this line in a deck, since both have high retreat costs and to for sure do damage you need at least 3 energy cards.  But if you choose to, do not use more than a 1-1 line.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Primal Clash set.  There are some positives on this card like its high HP and the fact it has two moves, that could do up to 90 and 100 damage respectively, but this card is slow on the attack and requires coin flips to attack, so unless you are willing to take some risk using this card I would look elsewhere.  Together with Nosepass from this set, I would give these two a 2 out of 5 rating, there are better Pokemon lines to use.
