Phantump -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Phantump Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Phantump from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Set.  Phantump is a Basic, Grass type Pokemon card with a HP of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to Fire type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Phantump does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Tackle, for one Grass Energy card this move does 10 damage.  Phantump's second move is called Confuse Ray, for two Colorless Energy cards this move Confuses the defending Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Phantump is a Basic Pokemon card with a Stage 1 evolution in Trevenant, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution.  So, on its own, this card could be used as a starter type Pokemon, since it can attack for one Energy card, however, unless you plan on using 4 Double Colorless Energy cards in your deck, I would probably look elsewhere because of Phantump's high retreat cost.  But, with one Colorless Energy card attached you can Confuse the defending Pokemon or retreat.  I would say this card is better suited for the Bench and then having it evolve there into Trevenant.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Phantump, this is a below average Basic Pokemon card overall.  Like I mentioned above, this card definitely has some positives like its HP and the fact it has two moves.  But, because this card has a high retreat cost, and can't do much damage when retreating, I would look elsewhere for a Basic Pokemon to use in a Grass type deck.

Phantump -- BREAKpoint Pokemon Card Review

Phantump BREAKpoint Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Phantump from the BREAKpoint Pokemon Card Set.  Phantump is a basic, psychic type Pokemon card with an hp of 50.  It has a x2 weakness to darkness type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to fighting type Pokemon, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost. Phantump does not have an Ability and it only has one move called Ascension that allows you to search your deck for a Pokemon that evolves from this Pokemon and put it onto this Pokemon.

So, on its own, this card is not usable, it is as simple as that.  Since the only move that this card has only works if you have Trevenant in your deck, it is useless without that.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 0 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Phantump, this card is not usable and really can't be used on its own, that is why I am giving it a zero rating, the lowest rating I've ever given a card in the TCG.  Do not use this card without Trevenant.

Phantump -- Pokemon X and Y Card Review

Phantump Pokemon X and Y Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Phantump from the X and Y Pokemon Card Set.  Phantump is a basic, psychic type Pokemon card with an hp of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to darkness type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to fighting type Pokemon, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost. Phantump does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Astonish, for one psychic energy card this move allows you to randomly choose a card from your opponent's hand and have them put it back into their deck.  Phantump's second move is called Hook, this move requires three energy cards, one psychic and two colorless, and does 30 damage.

So, on its own I would strongly discourage anyone from using this card in their deck.  Not only is this card extremely slow, but when you finally do get three cards on Phantump to use Hook, it does underwhelming damage.  So if for some strange reason you want to use this card in your deck, make sure to set it up on your bench and then use Hook every turn.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 1 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is one of the worst basic Pokemon cards I've reviewed in awhile and definitely the worst card I have looked at so far from the X and Y set.  Not only is this card extremely slow and has a high retreat cost, the only move that does damage does hardly any for the amount of energy cards it requires.  So make sure to stay away from this card at all costs.
