Hydreigon BREAK -- Steam Siege Pokemon Card Review

Hydreigon BREAK Steam Siege Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Hydreigon BREAK from the Steam Siege Pokemon Card Set.  The way a BREAK card works is that you place it on top of the Pokemon with the exact name, so this card would be placed on top of Hydreigon, so basically this card is a Stage 3 card.  It is placed horizontally on the card it evolves from and can use that Pokemon's Abilities and Attacks as well as what is on the BREAK card.  Hydreigion BREAK is a BREAK, dragon type Pokemon card, with a HP of 190.  It has the same weakness, resistance and retreat cost as the Hydreigon you're evolving it from.  Hydreigon BREAK does not have an Ability and it only has one moved called Calamity Blast and for four energy cards, one psychic and colorless and two darkness, this move does 150 damage, however when using this move you must discard three energy cards attached to Hydreigon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Hydreigon BREAK is a stage 3 Pokemon card you'll have to get Deino, Zweilous, and Hydreigon into play before being able to use this card.  If you look specifically at the Pokemon in this set, I was disappointed with all three cards, giving those three cards together a 1 out of 5 rating, none of the cards had that great of moves and most were slow on the attack.  So knowing this about the Hydreigon line from this set and looking at this Hydreigon card, the first thing I would recommend is using a different set's versions of this line to improve them, however, this card requires psychic and darkness type energy, the same as the ones from Steam Siege.  So the strategy for this card is similar to that of Hydreigon, use a 1-1-1-1 line of this Pokemon family and attach energy to this card on the bench, then when you need a Pokemon knocked out in one turn, move this card to the active Pokemon spot, use Calamity Blast once, and then retreat Hydreigon the next turn.  The advantage this card has over Hydreigon is the fact it can also spread damage around.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is a below average BREAK Pokemon card from the Steam Siege set.  Even though this card can do a good amount of damage every turn, not only to the defending Pokemon, but two benched Pokemon, this card is extremely slow to set up and needs a ton of energy re-attached to it to continue to attack.  So overall, I cannot recommend using this Pokemon family from Steam Siege in a deck, still giving this entire line a 1 out of 5 rating.

Hydreigon -- Steam Siege Pokemon Card Review

Hydreigon Steam Siege Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Hydreigon from the Steam Siege Pokemon Card Set.  Hydreigon is a stage 2, dragon type Pokemon card, with a HP of 150.  It has a x2 weakness to fairy type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a three colorless energy card retreat cost.  Hydreigon does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Cruel Fang, for two colorless energy cards this move does 40 damage, plus any damage done to your Pokemon during your opponent's next turn is reduced by 40.  Hydreigon's second move is called Dark Burn, for three energy cards, one each of psychic, darkness, and colorless, this move does 50 damage times the number of darkness energy cards you discard from Hydreigon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Hydreigon is a Stage 2 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Deino into play and then evolve it into Zweilous before you can evolve Zweilous into Hydreigon, both of those Pokemon are from this set and I've reviewed both of them the last two days.  If you've read my reviews of those cards you'll know that I thought both cards were below average overall and even worse together.  Both cards had two moves and solid HP, but both cards were somewhat slow on the attack and were under-powered overall.  So knowing this about the first two Pokemon in this line and looking at this Hydreigon card, this card is similar to the first two cards, in that this card has a solid HP and two moves, but is slow on the attack and is under-powered.  Especially for a Stage 2 Pokemon, being able to do a guaranteed 40 damage per turn is pretty pathetic.  Plus, to use Dark Burn you need three different energy types and you need to discard at least one energy card to do any damage.  So the only way to use this line in a deck, would be in a psychic and darkness dual type deck and using a 1-1-1 line of this family.  You could put a ton of energy cards on this card on the bench, and then when you need to knock out a Pokemon in one turn, you could move Hydreigon to the active Pokemon spot and use Dark Burn, discarding 4 or more Darkness energy cards, then retreating Hydreigon the next turn.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 1 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is a very poor Stage 2 Pokemon card from the Steam Siege set.  Not only will this card take a long time to set up since it is a Stage 2 evolution, but this card is under-powered when properly set up and can only do a fair amount of damage once without having to wait and re-attach energy cards.  So overall, I am not a fan of this Pokemon line, giving this family a 1 out of 5 rating overall.

Hydreigon -- Phantom Forces Pokemon Card Review

Hydreigon Phantom Forces Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Hydreigon from the Phantom Forces Pokemon Card Set.  Hydreigon is a stage 2, dragon type Pokemon card, with an hp of 140.  It has a x2 weakness to fairy type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a three colorless energy card retreat cost.  Hydreigon's Ability is called Dark Impulse, this ability allows you to move a darkness energy card from your discard pile to your active Pokemon.  Besides the Ability, Hydreigon just has one move, it is called Crazy Headbutt and for four energy cards, two colorless and one each of darkness and psychic, this move does 130 damage.  However, you must discard an energy attached to Hydreigon after using this move.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Hydreigon is a stage 2 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Deino into play and then evolve it into Zweilous before you can evolve Zweilous into Hydreigon, both of those Pokemon are from this set and I've reviewed both of them the last couple of days.  If you've read my reviews of those cards you'll know that both cards were well below average and I could not recommend using either of them in play.  So knowing this about those two cards, this Hydreigon card really has to be good in order for me to want to use it.  And this card fits that bill, so because Deino and Zweilous are so bad, I would recommend only using a 1-1-1 line of this entire Pokemon family and setting up the line on the bench, that way once you get Hydreigon on the bench you can utilize its Ability and set up some of your other Pokemon faster.  I would move Hydreigon into the active Pokemon spot right away when it has four energy cards on it, 130 damage a turn with Crazy Headbutt will knock out every Pokemon in the TCG in two turns or less.  You can then use Crazy Headbutt one turn, then discard the darkness energy card attached to Hydreigon and retrieve it again before attacking with Hydreigon's Ability.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 5 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an above average, very powerful Stage 2 Pokemon card from the Phantom Forces set.  Even though this card only has one move and that one move requires four energy cards to use, I still really like this card, since it can basically do 130 damage every single turn.  Plus, even if this card isn't in the active Pokemon spot, its Ability can still help your deck greatly.  So even though I really like this Hydreigon card, it doesn't do much to bump up the average of all of the cards from this line combined. I can only give Deino, Zweilous, and Hydreigon from this set a 2 out of 5 rating, the first two Pokemon in this line are just that bad, so either find different sets to use Deino and Zweilous cards from, or only use 1 of each Pokemon from this line.

Hydreigon -- Plasma Freeze Pokemon Card Review

Hydreigon Plasma Freeze Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Hydreigon from the Plasma Freeze Pokemon Card Set.  Hydreigon is a stage 2, darkness type Pokemon card, with an hp of 150.  It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to psychic type Pokemon, and a three colorless energy card retreat cost.  Hydreigon does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Tractorbeam, this move requires one darkness energy card and two colorless energy cards and does 40 damage to your opponent's active Pokemon after you switch their previously active Pokemon with one of their benched Pokemon.  Hydreigon's second move is called Obsidian Fang, this move requires four energy cards, three colorless and one darkness, and does 80 damage, plus you can discard all Tool cards attached to the defending Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Hydreigon is a stage 2 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get one of the two Deino cards from this set into play and then evolve one of those cards into Zweilous before you can evolve Zweilous into Hydreigon, all three of those Pokemon cards are from this set and I've reviewedthem all the last few days.  The first two Pokemon in this line from Plasma Freeze are way below average, so in order for me to want to use this card I would really have to like Hydreigon or look to other Deino and Zweilous cards from other sets.  So with that in mind, I would not recommend using Hydreigon from this set with its pre-evolution cards from this set, but I would absolutely recommend pairing this card with pre-evolution cards from previous sets.  I say this because, Hydreigon is a perfect card to have in a spread damage type deck.  Not only does this card require mostly colorless energy cards so it fits in most decks, but you get to choose which Pokemon you want to do damage to each turn.  So strategy wise, I would include 1 or 2 of these Hydreigon cards in a deck, evolve Deino into Zweilous into Hydreigon on the bench and put three energy cards on Hydreigon.  In the meantime, I would be using a spread damage type card in the active Pokemon spot that does 10 damage to each of your opponent's Pokemon, that way when you move Hydreigon into the active Pokemon spot, each Pokemon you move to the active Pokemon spot of your opponent's should be knocked out in a turn or two.  So I would absolutely use this card in a deck, it would be a spread damage type deck, and I would use a 4-3-2 line of Deino, Zweilous, and Hydreigon, Deino and Zweilous would not be from this set.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 5 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an essential card for a spread damage type deck.  So I am giving this card my highest rating.  Not only does this card have a high hp, and an incredible spread damage type move in Tractorbeam, but its second move, even though slower does do average to above average damage.  So if you're building a spread damage type deck, you definitely can't go wrong with this card.  Overall, if I were to rate both Deino cards, Zweilous, and Hydreigon from this set, I would give them all combined a 3 out of 5 rating, which shows how much I like this card because Zweilous and both Deino cards received a 1 from me.

Hydreigon #98/124 -- Dragons Exalted Pokemon Card Review

Hydreigon Dragons Exalted Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Hydreigon from the Dragons Exalted Pokemon Card Set.  This is the second of two consecutive Hydreigon card reviews I'll be doing from this set.  Hydreigon is a stage 2, dragon type Pokemon card, with an hp of 150.  Hydreigon is the stage 2 evolution of Zweilous, and before that Deino, both of those Pokemon I have reviewed the past couple of days, and both of those Pokemon are in this set.  Hydreigon has a x2 weakness to dragon type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a three colorless energy card retreat cost.  Unlike yesterday's card which had an Ability, this Hydreigon card does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move is called Consume and for three energy cards, two colorless and one darkness, this move does 40 damage and allows you to heal the amount of damage you did to the defending Pokemon using this move from Hydreigon.  Hydreigon's second move is called Destructor Beam and for four energy cards, one psychic, one darkness, and two colorless, this move does 90 damage and if you get a heads when you flip a coin, you may remove an energy card attached to the defending Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Hydreigon is a stage 2 Pokemon, I would recommend evolving Deino into Zweilous and then Zweilous into Hydreigon on your bench.  I would get three or four energy cards on Hydreigon and move it into the active Pokemon spot.  Once there, depending on the amount of energy cards attached to Hydreigon will determine the move you will use.  The hope is to be able to use Destructor Beam every turn, unless the defending Pokemon will be knocked out with 40 damage or less then make sure to use Consume because you'll heal damage from Hydreigon as well when using that move.  After reviewing both Hydreigon cards from this set, both are about equal in my opinion, so I would suggest using a 4-3-2 line of Deino, Zweilous, and Hydreigon in a deck containing psychic and darkness type Pokemon.  I would use 1 each of the Hydreigon cards from this set.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  This card is very similar to yesterday's Hydreigon card which I gave a 4 out of 5 rating, this card doesn't have an Ability but it does have two moves which are both good, plus this card has a high hp that seems even higher if you take into account Consume which will remove damage from Hydreigon.  So after reviewing both cards, I think both Hydreigon cards are worth using, and I would recommend both.

Hydreigon #97/124 -- Dragons Exalted Pokemon Card Review

Hydreigon Dragons Exalted Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Hydreigon from the Dragons Exalted Pokemon Card Set.  This is the first of two consecutive Hydreigon card reviews I'll be doing from this set. Hydreigon's Ability is called Dark Trance and it says that as often you like during your turn you may move a darkness energy card attached to 1 of your Pokemon to another one of your Pokemon.  Besides the Ability, Hydreigon has only one move called Dragonblast which requires four energy cards, two darkness, one colorless, and one psychic, and does 140 damage, however after using this move you must discard two darkness energy cards attached to this card.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Hydreigon is a stage 2 Pokemon, I would recommend evolving Deino into Zweilous and then Zweilous into Hydreigon on your bench.  I would attach as many darkness energy cards as possible to Hydreigon while it's on the bench and then late in the game, when you need a miracle I would move Hydreigon into the active Pokemon spot and use Dragonblast as many times as possible.  But if you don't need a miracle, it would be smart to get your bench full start attaching energy cards to all those Pokemon and then if you move Hydreigon into the active Pokemon spot you can utilize its Ability and get energy cards on it very quickly so you're able to use Dragonblast almost every turn.  If you choose to use this Hydreigon card in your deck, make sure to have plenty of darkness energy cards as well as some psychic energy cards.  I would suggest using a 3-2-1 line of Deino, Zweilous, and Hydreigon in a darkness and psychic type deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  I think this card is a slightly above average stage 2 Pokemon card. I like how it has above average hp, an extremely good Ability, and one move that does a good amount of damage, even though it is a slow move and will be hard to use every turn.  I'll have to compare this card to tomorrow's Hydreigon card but right now I would definitely recommend using this Pokemon card line in a deck.
