Hoppip -- Steam Siege Pokemon Card Review

Hoppip Steam Siege Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Hoppip from the Steam Siege set.  Hoppip is a basic, grass type Pokemon card with an HP of 40.  It has a x2 weakness to fire type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Hoppip does not have an Ability and it only has one move called Splash that does 10 damage for one colorless energy card.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Hoppip is a basic Pokemon card with a Stage 1 evolution in Skiploom, and a Stage 2 evolution in Jumpluff, which I'll be reviewing the next couple of days, you'll more than likely want to use some of those Pokemon with this card, however, since I have not reviewed any of those cards yet, I will just act like Hoppip does not have any evolution forms and that it will be used on its own.  On its own, this card is not usable, mainly because of its very low, almost Magikarp like HP.  You may be able to get away with the first turn of the game having this card in the active Pokemon spot and doing 10 damage with Splash, but after that, you're just asking for trouble.  So unless you're using this card with at least Skiploom, do not use this card in a deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 1 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a very poor Basic Pokemon card from the Steam Siege set.  All you have to do is look at the HP to know about this card, this low HP overrides all of the other things on this card, like its low HP and solid move.  So like I said above, no reason to play this card in a deck on its own.

Hoppip -- Dragons Exalted Pokemon Card Review

Hoppip Dragons Exalted Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Hoppip from the Dragons Exalted Pokemon Card Set.  This is the first card in the set, and with the Dragons Exalted set I plan on reviewing every Pokemon card in the set, starting with the first card in the set and ending with the ultra rare EX cards I have not reviewed.  So...today's Hoppip Pokemon card is a basic, grass type Pokemon card that has an hp of 30.  It has a x2 weakness to fire type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to water type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Hoppip does not have an Ability and it only has one move called Flail Around which takes one grass energy card and does 10 damage times the number of heads you get when you flip three coins.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Hoppip is a basic Pokemon card that has two evolutions in this set, with Skiploom and Jumpluff, I would recommend keeping Hoppip on your bench until you can evolve Hoppip into its stage 1 or stage 2 evolution.  However, Flail Around can do a fair amount of damage very quickly, so as long as you don't think you'll get knocked out by the defending Pokemon in one move I would suggest putting Hoppip in the active Pokemon spot and using Flail Around a turn or two, but you'll need to evolve Hoppip after that because it won't be able to last with such a low hp.  I would recommend using this card in a grass type deck that includes both of its evolutions, I'll be reviewing Hoppip's evolutions the next two days...so you'll get a better picture of what this card can do for you after I've reviewed those two cards.  On its own, Hoppip is an extremely risky card to use because it has such a low hp.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  The one thing holding me back from giving this card a 1 out of 5 rating is the fact that Flail Around has the potential to do 30 damage, without that potential this card isn't good at all, it has way too low of an hp to do anything long lasting.  One thing I do like about this card is the artwork, it reminds me of the Pokemon Anime artwork very much, and it makes me want to play the game just looking at the card.
