Goomy -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:

Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Goomy from the Guardians Rising set.  Goomy is a Basic, Dragon type Pokemon card with a HP of 50.  It has a x2 weakness to Fairy type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Goomy does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move on this card is called Bubble, for one Colorless Energy card, this move Paralyzes the defending Pokemon if you get a heads when flipping a coin.  Goomy's second move is called Tackle, for two Energy cards, one each of Water and Fairy, this move does 20 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Goomy is a Basic Pokemon card with a Stage 1 evolution in Sliggoo, and a Stage 2 evolution in Goodra, which I'll be reviewing the next couple of days, you'll more than likely want to use some of those Pokemon with this card, however, since I have not reviewed any of those cards yet, I will just act like Goomy does not have any evolution forms and that it will be used on its own.  On its own, I would not recommend using this card in a deck.  Besides having a low HP, this card is slow to damage when attacking, and even if you decide to use Bubble on this card, it is based off of a coin flip and even if you get a heads all it does is prevents the defending Pokemon from attacking during your opponent's next turn.  So unless you are specifically building a Water and Fairy type deck, there is absolutely no reason to use this card.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a below average Basic Pokemon card from the Guardians Rising set.  This card does have some positives, like two moves, one inflicting a special condition and the other doing damage, but because this card requires two distinct type of Energy cards and has a low HP, I would look elsewhere for a Basic Pokemon card to use in your deck.

Goomy -- Ancient Origins Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:

Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Goomy from the Ancient Origins set.  Goomy is a basic, dragon type Pokemon card with an HP of 40.  It has a x2 weakness to fairy type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Goomy's Ability is called Water Down and says that whenever you place a water energy card on this Goomy card, you may search your deck for another Goomy and put it onto your bench.  Besides the Ability, this card has one move called Stampede that for two energy cards, one each of fairy and colorless, does 10 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Goomy is a basic Pokemon card with a Stage 1 evolution in Sliggoo, and a Stage 2 evolution in Goodra, which I'll be reviewing the next few days, you'll more than likely want to use some of those Pokemon with this card, however, since I have not reviewed any of those cards yet, I will just act like Goomy does not have any evolution forms and that it will be used on its own.  On its own, I would stay as far as possible away from this card.  Not only is this card prime for getting OHKOed later in games with only 40 HP, but you can't even use this card as a starter type Pokemon because it requires two energy cards to attack and does a low amount of damage.  So there is really no strategy to use with this card other than to not include it in your deck.  Speaking of how bad this card is, why would you try and utilize its Ability so you can get even more Goomy in play?

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 1 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a miserable Basic Pokemon card from the Ancient Origin set.  This is probably one of the worst cards I have seen from this set so far.  There really isn't anything I like about this card, it has such a low HP and a slow move that does below average damage that there just isn't any merit to using this card in a deck.  Also, I don't like the fact that Goomy's Ability requires water type energy cards and most decks that have two types of Basic energy cards don't work that well.  So again, stay away from this card, and do not use it in your deck.

Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Goomy from the Phantom Forces set. Goomy is a basic, dragon type Pokemon card with an hp of 50.  It has a x2 weakness to fairy type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Goomy does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Gooey, this move heals 10 damage from Goomy, for one colorless energy card.  Goomy's second move is called Tackle, this move requires two energy cards to use, one each of fairy and water, and does 20 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Goomy is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Sliggoo and a stage 2 evolution in Goodra, which I'll be reviewing the next two days, you'll more than likely want to use those cards with this Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed those cards yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolutions.  So on its own, I would not recommend using this card in a deck.  I say this because Goomy has a little lower HP than I'd like and it isn't quick on the attack, requiring two energy cards to do damage, and two energy cards to retreat.  This card wouldn't be miserable to use if you had to use one in a deck, since you can heal 10 damage right away with Gooey and then use Tackle thereafter, but if you have to put this card into the active Pokemon spot later in the game, you'll be sunk.  So unless you're specifically building a fairy and water type deck, I wouldn't give this card one thought for a deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a below average Basic Pokemon card from the Phantom Forces set.  I do like that this card has two moves on it, but that is about it, since the card has a below average HP, and a high retreat cost, plus only one of the two moves it has can do any damage.  So like I stated above, look elsewhere for a Basic Pokemon card for your deck.

Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Goomy from the Flashfire set.  Goomy is a basic, dragon type Pokemon card with an hp of 50.  It has a x2 weakness to fairy type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Goomy does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Gooey, for one colorless energy card this move removes 10 damage from Goomy.  Goomy's second move is called Tackle, this move requires two energy cards, one each of water and fairy, and does 20 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Goomy is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Sliggoo and a stage 2 evolution in Goodra, which I'll be reviewing the next two days, you'll more than likely want to use those cards with this Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed those cards yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolutions.  So on its own, the first thing you should know about this card before you try and use it in a deck is that even though the card is a dragon type card, you need to use this card in a dual type deck of water and fairy.  Because this card has a lower hp, without any of Goomy's evolutions, I wouldn't use more than one of these cards in a deck, I would try and get this card into the active Pokemon spot early and use Tackle most turns.  This card really isn't that great, so there are plenty of Basic Pokemon cards I would put into my deck before this one, but this one isn't terrible and could be used on its own.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a below average Basic Pokemon card from the Flashfire set.  I am giving this card a below average rating even though it has two decent moves because the HP on Goomy is low, the retreat cost is high, and in order to use the only move that does damage on this card, you have to use two distinct types of energy cards.  Overall, this card isn't bad, but I wouldn't use it in a deck without being desperate.
