Ferrothorn -- BREAKpoint Pokemon Card Review

Ferrothorn BREAKpoint Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Ferrothorn from the BREAKpoint Pokemon Card Set.  Ferrothorn is a stage 1, metal type Pokemon card, with an hp of 100. It has a x2 weakness to fire type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to psychic type Pokemon, and a three colorless energy card retreat cost.  Ferrothorn does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Metal Claw, for two energy cards, one each of metal and colorless, this move does 40 damage.  Ferrothorn's second move is called Spike Leash and for three energy cards, two colorless and one metal, this move does 10 damage to each of your opponent's Pokemon for each colorless energy card in their retreat cost.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Ferrothorn is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Ferroseed into play (I reviewed Ferroseed from this set yesterday) and then evolve Ferroseed into Ferrothorn.  If you read yesterday's review of Ferroseed, you'll know that I thought that card was a below average Pokemon card, mainly because it was slow on the attack, couldn't do any damage when attacking, and had a high retreat cost, however it could hold its own in the active Pokemon spot.  So knowing this about Ferroseed and looking at this Ferrothorn card, if you're building a metal type deck or a spread attack type deck, this card is a shoe-in, since Spike Lash is an incredible move.  So use a 1-1 line of this Pokemon family, get three energy cards on Ferrothorn, then use Spike Lash every turn when in the active Pokemon spot.  Most cards that spread damage around can do 10 damage to each of the opponent's Pokemon, however this card can do way more damage, potentially up to 40 damage for each Pokemon your opponent has in play.  So again, if you're building more specifically, a spread attack type deck, definitely use this card.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an above average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the BREAKpoint set.  A card that is extremely powerful in a spread attack type deck, and one that can be set up on the bench and played later in games.  Outside of having an amazing move, it does have one average move, a solid HP, but a very high retreat cost.  Overall, I would recommend using this line in a deck, and combined give Ferroseed and Ferrothorn from this set a 3 out of 5 rating.

Ferrothorn -- Emerging Powers Pokemon Card Review

Ferrothorn Emerging Powers Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Ferrothorn from the Emerging Powers Pokemon Card Set.  There are actually two Ferrothorn cards from this set, I've reviewed the rare Ferrothorn card from this set previously.  Ferrothorn is a stage 1, metal type Pokemon card, with an hp of 90.  It has a x2 weakness to fire type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to psychic type Pokemon, and a three colorless energy card retreat cost.  Ferrothorn doesn't have an Ability, but it does have two moves, the first move is called Iron Defense and for one metal energy card, all effects of an attack including damage are prevented during Ferrothorn's next turn if you flip a heads when you flip a coin.  Ferrothorn's second move is called Power Whip and for two colorless energy cards it does 10 damage for each energy card you have attached to Ferrothorn to one of your opponent's benched Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since the main move you'll be using with this card is Power Whip and this move requires colorless energy cards you can use this Pokemon card in any type deck, I would recommend keeping Ferrothorn on the bench until you get at least 3 energy cards on it, you can then move it into the active Pokemon spot and use Power Whip and hopefully knock out some of your opponent's benched Pokemon.  Of course, you'll want to include this card in a deck with other spread damage type Pokemon so when you move Ferrothorn into the active Pokemon spot, your opponent's benched Pokemon will have damage on them already.  I would use a 2-2 line of Ferroseed and Ferrothorn in a metal type deck, and I would use one each of the Ferrothorn's from this set, the rare version can do more damage faster, but this card has the ability to do the most damage and to your opponent's benched Pokemon at that.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  This is a pretty solid card in my opinion, it is a card I would include in a deck if I were looking for about 4 more cards to fit in the deck.  I like how this card can spread damage around, but overall it is quite slow, at least it takes awhile to be able to do a high amount of damage, and if you put it into the active Pokemon spot it costs a lot to retreat, but like I said, I would fit it into a deck if there was opening spots because overall it is a solid card.
