Wailord ex -- EX Sandstorm Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Wailord ex from the EX Sandstorm set. This is a stage 1, water type Pokemon card, with an hp of 200. It has two x2 weaknesses to grass and electric type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a 5 colorless energy card retreat cost. This card doesn't have a Poke-Body or Poke-Power but it does have two moves, the first move is called Super Deep Dive which takes one colorless energy card and allows you to remove 3 damage counters from Wailord and then switch Wailord with one of your benched Pokemon, of course if you don't have any benched Pokemon you can't do this move. Wailord's other move is called Dwindling Wave and for four energy cards, three water and one colorless it does 100 damage minus 10 for each damage counter on Wailord ex.

PrimetimePokemon's Take:
This card has the highest hp of any Pokemon in the TCG today, any card that has a higher hp than this is either fake or is not playable. Even though this card has an incredibly high hp it really isn't that good, this card is basically useless when it has 100 hp on it since Dwindling Wave won't do anything at all, so if you're playing in an unlimited type league you'll have to play Wailord for a turn or two then use Super Deep Dive and get all the damage off of it and then a few turns later put it back in, there is absolutely no reason to retreat this card when you can just use Super Deep Dive and retreat it for free, basically. The artwork on this is done by Ryo Ueda and makes Wailord look absolutely monstrous, I like the pattern of the background but I don't necessarily like Wailord itself. I do have this card in my collection and it is usually highly sought after since it has such a high hp.

This card sells on eBay for around $20, on Professor-Oak it sells for $31.54 and on PokeOrder it goes for $59.99. This card is the most expensive card from the EX Sandstorm set.

Typhlosion ex -- EX Sandstorm Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Typhlosion ex from the EX Sandstorm set. This is a stage 2, fire type Pokemon card, with an hp of 160. It has two x2 weaknesses to water and fighting type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost. This card doesn't have a Poke-Body or Poke-Power but it does have two moves, the first move is called Ring of Fire and does 40 damage for three energy cards, two colorless and one fire. After using this move the defending Pokemon is burned and can't retreat until after your opponent's next turn. Typhlosion's second move is called Split Blast and for five energy cards, three fire and two colorless, it does 100 damage or 50 damage to each of your opponent's two defending Pokemon if they happen to have two, you only need to discard one energy card when using this move.

PrimetimePokemon's Take:
Out of the ex cards I've reviewed so far, I think Typhlosion ex can do the most damage most consistently, it can do 100 damage every turn as long as you have an energy card in your hand to attach to it each turn. This ex card also has the highest hp of any of ex cards I've reviewed recently. The artwork on this card is done by Hikaru Koike. I like the background pattern but I don't like the illustration of Typhlosion, to me it is an awkward angle. I do have this ex card in my collection.

Pokemon Card Price:
This card sells on eBay for around $8, on Professor-Oak it sells for $10.80 and on PokeOrder it goes for $24.99. I would imagine the reason for this card selling for a bit more than others on eBay would be that Typhlosion is a more popular Pokemon since it is a starter Pokemon and more people are familiar with it.

Raichu ex -- EX Sandstorm Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Raichu ex from the EX Sandstorm set. This is a stage 1, electric type Pokemon card, with an hp of 100. It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, no resistance type and a one colorless energy card retreat cost. This card doesn't have a Poke-Body or Poke-Power but it does have two moves, the first move is called Dazzle Blast which does 20 damage for one electric energy card and makes the defending Pokemon confused if you get a heads when you flip a coin. Raichu's second move is called Mega Thunderbolt and does 120 damage for three energy cards, two electric and one colorless, however after using this move you have to discard all energy cards attached to Raichu.

PrimetimePokemon's Take:
This card can knock almost any Pokemon out in one move with Mega Thunderbolt but unfortunately you'll have to wait a few turns after that to be able to use the move again. It looks like the whole card is based around that move since the artwork reflects Raichu using a thunderbolt move, it reminds me heavily of the Pokemon Movie that featured Mewtwo. The illustrator of this card was Ryo Ueda. I have this card in my collection.

Pokemon Card Price:
This card sells on eBay for around $6, on Professor-Oak it sells for $16.54 and on PokeOrder it goes for $39.99. I have no idea why it is listed for so much on PokeOrder so if you're looking to buy this card definitely check out the other two sites.

Kabutops ex -- EX Sandstorm Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Kabutops ex from the EX Sandstorm set. This is a stage 2, fighting type Pokemon card, with an hp of 150. It has two x2 weaknesses to grass and electric type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost. This card doesn't have a Poke-Body or Poke-Power but it does have two moves, the first move is called Hydrocutter which takes one colorless energy card and does 40 damage times the number of heads you get when you flip the amount of coins equal to the number of energy cards attached to Kabutops up to three energy cards. Kabutops' second move is called Spiral Drain which takes four energy cards, two each of colorless and fighting and does 70 damage and allows you to remove 2 damage counters from Kabutops.

PrimetimePokemon's Take:
One thing I noticed about this card right away that it is a water type card yet it doesn't require any water energy cards to any of its attacks. Spiral Drain is a pretty good move doing 70 damage and removing damage counters and making Kabutops' 150 hp seem even higher. This card was illustrated by Ryo Ueda and is very well done. This card's artwork reminds me of Aerodactyl ex from this set, since the background is orange/red and black and then Kabutops looks quite menacing. I also like how this card is blue since it is a water type but everyone knows Kabutops is normally a fighting type Pokemon. I have this card in my collection.

This card sells on eBay for around $8, on Professor-Oak it sells for $8.86 and on PokeOrder it goes for $15.99. This card sells for more than the other ex cards from this set on eBay, the other sites it is about the same.

Gardevoir ex -- EX Sandstorm Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Gardevoir ex from the EX Sandstorm set. This is a stage 2, psychic type Pokemon card, with an hp of 150. It has two x2 weaknesses to grass and psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost. This card doesn't have a Poke-Body or Poke-Power but it does have two moves, the first move is called Feedback which does the amount of damage equal to the number of cards in your opponent's hand, so if your opponent had 3 cards in their hand this move would do 30 damage. Gardevoir's second move is called Psystorm which takes 4 energy cards, three colorless and one psychic and does 10 damage time the total amount of energy attached to all Pokemon in play.

PrimetimePokemon's Take:
This is a card that benefits you greatly if you have it in play early in the game and late in the game, early in the game Feedback should do quite a bit of damage and late in the game when your Pokemon are set up on your bench it can do quite a bit of damage. Since this card does so much damage it has the dual x2 weaknesses once again to two popular types of Pokemon. The artwork was done again by Hikaru Koike, I actually don't like the artwork on this card as mcuh, Gardevoir just isn't drawn well in my opinion. I don't think I have this card in my collection.

This card sells on eBay for around $3, on Professor-Oak it sells for $15.75 and on PokeOrder it goes for $11.99. So overall this card sells for a little less than the other two ex cards from this set I've reviewed.

Aggron ex -- EX Sandstorm Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Aggron ex from the EX Sandstorm set. This is a stage 2, metal type Pokemon card, with an hp of 150. It has two x2 weaknesses to fire and fighting type Pokemon, it has a -30 resistance to grass type Pokemon, and a four colorless energy card retreat cost. Aggron ex doesn't have a Poke-Body or Poke-Power but it does have two moves, the first move is called Rend and for three colorless energy cards this move does 30 damage plus 30 more damage if the defending Pokemon has any damage counters on it. Aggron's other move is called Metal Surge which takes 5 energy cards and does 50 damage plus 20 more damage to each of your opponent's benched Pokemon.

PrimetimePokemon's Take:
This is definitely the most powerful EX Pokemon Card I've reviewed so far. Aggron has a massive HP and has the ability to do a lot of damage but you have to wait a long time to be able to do the damage and that HP doesn't seem so high with dual x2 weaknesses to very popular Pokemon types. The illustration on this card was once again done by Hikaru Koike and is well done, Aggron doesn't look as good as Aerodactyl from yesterday but I do like the black and orange holographic pattern on the background of the picture. This is another ex card I have in my collection.

This card sells on eBay for around $4, on Professor-Oak it sells for $15 and on PokeOrder it goes for $19.99. So overall this card sells for a little more than the Aerodactyl ex card from yesterday.

Aerodactyl ex -- EX Sandstorm Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Aerodactyl ex from the EX Sandstorm set. This is a stage 1, colorless type Pokemon card, with an hp of 100. It has a x2 weakness to electric type Pokemon, a -30 resistance to fighting type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost. Aerodactyl's Poke-Body is called Primal Lock and says that as long as Aerodactyl ex is in play your opponent can't play Pokemon tool cards. Aerodactyl ex has two moves, the first move is called Supersonic which does 10 damage for one colorless energy card and makes the defending Pokemon confused. Aerodactyl's other move is called Wing Attack which does 60 damage for three colorless energy cards.

PrimetimePokemon's Take:
This card is pretty similar to the types of cards we have today, Wing Attack does the standard 60 damage for three energy cards and Supersonic does a little damage and inflicts a special condition very quickly. I would say this card would have been pretty good back in the day. The artwork which is done by Hikaru Koike is very well done. Aerodactyl looks very cool in green against a red background, it makes Aerodactyl look very menacing. I have this card in my collection and it is one of my favorite ex cards.

This card sells on eBay for around $5, on Professor-Oak it sells for $7.36 and on PokeOrder it goes for $19.99. The next few days I will be reviewing the other ex cards in this set and I'll be able to compare prices with this card.
