Aegislash -- BREAKpoint Pokemon Card Review

Aegislash BREAKpoint Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Aegislash from the BREAKpoint Pokemon Card Set.  Aegislash is a stage 2, psychic type Pokemon card, with an hp of 140.  It has a x2 weakness to darkness type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to fighting type Pokemon, and a three colorless energy card retreat cost.  Aegislash does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Painful Sword and for three colorless energy cards, this move doubles the number of damage counters on each of your opponent's Pokemon.  Aegislash's second move is called Megaton Slash, for four energy cards, two each of psychic and colorless, this move does 100 damage, plus it does 10 damage to two of your opponent's benched Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Aegislash is a stage 2 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Honedge into play and then evolve it into Doublade before you can evolve Doublade into Aegislash, both of those Pokemon are from this set and I've reviewed both of them the last two days.  If you've read my reviews of those cards you'll know that I thought both Pokemon were below average overall.  Both could attack fairly quickly, but had lower HP, higher retreat costs than attack costs, and both cards were limited to only have one move.  So knowing this about the first two Pokemon in this line and looking at this Aegislash card, you're definitely going to want to play this card if you're building a spread attack type deck.  That way, you can set this card up on the bench, and first use a card in the active Pokemon spot that does at least 10 damage to all of your opponent's Pokemon.  After using that card a few turns, you can then put Aegislash into the active Pokemon spot and knock out several at once with Painful Sword.  And if you have to, you can use Megaton Slash first, then use Painful Sword second, doing 100 damage to the defending Pokemon with Painful Sword and 10 damage to at least two of your opponent's benched Pokemon.  This card is very powerful overall, and one I would highly consider when deck building.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 5 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an extremely powerful Stage 2 Pokemon card from the BREAKpoint.  Other than having a little low HP, this card should be unstoppable in play, able to do major damage every turn, and potentially knock out several Pokemon at one time.  So if you're building a spread attack type deck, this card should be in there for sure.  Together with Honedge and Doublade from this set, which I gave 2 out of 5 ratings, these three Pokemon get a 4 out of 5 rating from me, definitely use this line in a deck.

Aegislash -- Primal Clash Pokemon Card Review

Aegislash Primal Clash Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Aegislash from the Primal Clash Pokemon Card Set.  Aegislash is a stage 2, metal type Pokemon card, with an hp of 140.  It has a x2 weakness to fire type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to psychic type Pokemon, and a three colorless energy card retreat cost.  Aegislash's Ability is called Miracle Guard and says that your Pokemon in play have no weaknesses.  Outside of the Ability, Aegislash just has one move called Protect Charge, this move requires three energy cards to use, two colorless and one metal, and does 80 damage, plus any damage done to Aegislash during the opponent's next turn is reduced by 20.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Aegislash is a stage 2 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Honedge into play and then evolve it into Doublade before you can evolve Honedge into Aegislash, both of those Pokemon are from this set and I've reviewed both of them the last couple of days.  If you've read my reviews of those cards you'll know that I thought Honedge was a below average Basic Pokemon card mainly because the only move it had was to confuse the defending Pokemon and its retreat cost was higher than its attack cost.  However, I was a big fan of Doublade from this set and its False Swipe move attacking the defending Pokemon until it only has 10 damage left, together I gave these two cards a 4 out of 5 rating and they could be used without Aegislash.  But looking at this Aegislash card, this card would definitely benefit the first two Pokemon in this line, this card doesn't have a move like False Swipe, but its Ability will help out your entire bench and active Pokemon and the one move it does have does do above average damage and should make Aegislash's HP even higher than it already is.  If I were building a metal type deck, I would focus on Doublade most since that is the card that can do the most amount of damage, but I may try my luck at having a 2-2-1 line of this family, that way I could keep one line on the bench to utilize Aegislash's Ability and the other line I could use Doublade as the final evolution.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an above average Stage 2 Pokemon card from the Primal Clash set.  This card has plenty of good things going for it, like its high HP, and powerful move.  However, this card does just have the one move and its retreat cost is high, so it doesn't warrant more than one of these being used in a deck.  Altogether, I am pretty impressed with this Pokemon family from the Primal Clash set and would give the entire line a 4 out of 5 rating.

Aegislash EX -- Phantom Forces Pokemon Card Review

Aegislash Phantom Forces Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Aegislash EX from the Phantom Forces Pokemon Card Set.  Aegislash EX is a basic, EX, metal type Pokemon card with an hp of 170. It has a x2 weakness to fire type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to psychic type Pokemon, and a three colorless energy card retreat cost.  Aegislash's Ability is called Mighty Shield and this ability prevents of all done from your opponent's attacks if they are using special energy cards for their attacks.  Besides the Ability, Aegislash just has one move called Slash Blast, this move requires three colorless energy cards and does 40 damage plus 20 more damage for each metal energy attached to Aegislash.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, because Aegislash EX is a basic Pokemon card you won't need to use any other cards with this card.  But remember, because this card is an EX card, if this card is knocked out, two prize cards are taken instead of one.  So knowing this about Aegislash EX, you could definitely use one of these cards in any type deck just for its Ability.  Even though Slash Blast would only do 40 damage without any metal energy cards, you could give yourself plenty of time to set up the rest of your Pokemon if the opponent cannot use a Special energy card to attack.  However, if you do want to use this EX card in your deck, it would be much better if you attached metal energy cards to it so placing it in a metal type deck would be your best strategy.  That way you could do 100 damage a turn if you attached 3 metal energy cards to it.  So, if you want to use this card in a deck, try to use it in a mostly metal type deck and attach only metal energy cards to it, then the earlier you get this card into the active Pokemon spot the better, not only will it do 100 damage a turn, but if your opponent is using mostly Special energy cards in their deck, they won't be able to attack at all, which will give Aegislash free reign on your opponent's Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average EX Pokemon card from the Phantom Forces set, even though I am giving it an average rating, it has the potential to be well above average if you use it exclusively in a metal type deck and your opponent uses mostly Special energy cards.  The probably of those two things happening is unlikely so that is why I am giving this card an average rating, there are definitely better EX cards to use out there, but this one isn't too bad.

Aegislash #86/146 -- Pokemon X and Y Card Review

Aegislash Pokemon X and Y Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Aegislash from the X and Y Pokemon Card Set.  This is the second of two Aegislash cards I'll be reviewing.  Aegislash is a stage 2, metal type Pokemon card, with an hp of 140.  It has a x2 weakness to fire type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to psychic type Pokemon, and a three colorless energy card retreat cost.  Aegislash's Ability is called Stance Change and says that once during your turn you may switch out this Aegislash card with one in your hand.  Besides the Ability, Aegislash has just one move called King's Shield, this move requires four energy cards, two metal and two colorless, and does 50 damage plus prevents all damage done to this Pokemon during your opponent's next turn.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Aegislash is a stage 2 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Honedge into play and then evolve it into Doublade before you can evolve Doublade into Aegislash, both of those Pokemon are from this set and I've reviewed both of them the last few days.  Both of these cards are below average so they should definitely not be used without Aegislash.  However, this Aegislash card is just as bad in my opinion as the first two Pokemon cards in this set.  Even though there are two Aegislash cards in this set that both have the Stance Change Ability meaning you can rotate them in and out of the active Pokemon spot when you want, this card isn't good enough to warrant using that Ability.  So if you desperately want to use this Pokemon family in a deck, do not use this Aegislash card, instead go ahead and read yesterday's review of Aegislash.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 1 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is a very miserable stage 2 Pokemon card from this set.  Not only does this card have a very poor move, but the move can only be used every other turn and the 2 Pokemon that come before it are pretty miserable.  So do not use this Pokemon family at all if you want to use this card.  Overall, I would give the entire line a 1 out of 5 rating.  Indivually both Doublade and Aegislash were 1s and Honedge was a 2.

Aegislash #85/146 -- Pokemon X and Y Card Review

Aegislash Pokemon X and Y Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Aegislash from the X and Y Pokemon Card Set.  This is the first of two consecutive Aegislash cards I'll be reviewing. Besides the Ability, Aegislash has just one move called Buster Swing, this move requires four energy cards, two metal and two colorless, and does 120 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Aegislash is a stage 2 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Honedge into play and then evolve it into Doublade before you can evolve Doublade into Aegislash, both of those Pokemon are from this set and I've reviewed both of them the last couple of days.  Both of these cards are below average so they should definitely not be used without Aegislash, and like I mentioned earlier, there are two Aegislash cards in this set, so you'll have to wait until tomorrow's review to know which one I recommend using.  Of course though, if you want to utilize this card's Ability you'll want to use both Aegislash cards in your deck, so I can review this strategy tomorrow.  So all I really can go by on this card is the Buster Swing move, this move is really slow and can do a good amount of damage.  So this move fits in with the thinking of evolving Pokemon into Aegislash on the bench, then moving it into the active Pokemon spot and using Buster Swing every turn.  Because both Honedge and Doublade are so bad from this set, I wouldn't recommend using more than 1 each of the Pokemon in this line.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is a slightly above average stage 2 Pokemon card from the X and Y set.  I like its one and only move, albeit slow, it is quite good.  Besides the one good move, it does have a decent hp and a very average retreat cost which will make this card definitely one to consider in a metal type deck.  With that being said, I cannot give this Pokemon family, Honedge, Doublade, and Aegislash more than a 2 out of 5 rating.  Indivudally, Doublade was a 1, Honedge a 2, and Aegislash a 4.

Tomorrow's Pokemon Card:
