Accelgor -- Furious Fists Pokemon Card Review

Accelgor Furious Fists Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Accelgor from the Furious Fists Pokemon Card Set.  Accelgor is a stage 1, grass type Pokemon card, with an hp of 90.  It has a x2 weakness to fire type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a free retreat cost.  Accelgor does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Raid, for one colorless energy card this move does 20 damage, plus if you evolved Shelmet into Accelgor during this turn, Accelgor's Raid move does 60 damage total instead of 20.  Accelgor's second move is called Afterimage Strike, this move requires two energy cards, one each of grass and colorless, and does 40 damage, plus during your opponent's next turn, any damage done to Accelgor is prevented if you get a heads when flipping a coin.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Accelgor is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Shelmet into play (I reviewed Shelmet from this set yesterday) and then evolve Shelmet into Accelgor.  If you read yesterday's review of Shelmet, you'll know that I thought that card would have been a very solid Pokemon card except for its very high retreat cost made the card pretty much unusable on its own, since the retreat cost on Shelmet was two energy cards higher than the cost of the only move it had.  So knowing this about Shelmet, if you make sure and use that card with this Accelgor card, I would definitely recommend the Shelmet card because you can put it into the active Pokemon spot to start the game, do up to 20 damage right away, evolve Shelmet into Accelgor in the active Pokemon spot, use Raid one turn and do 60 damage, then use Afterimage Strike every other turn and do 40 damage to the defending Pokemon and possibly prevent all damage after that, giving you plenty of time to set up your benched Pokemon.  I would probably use either a 1-1 or a 2-2 line of this Pokemon family in a grass type deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an above average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Furious Fists set.  The first thing I really like about this card is the free retreat cost, especially since Shelmet has such a high one.  Second, I like the two moves that Accelgor has, both do above average damage and both do a little more than just attack.  So overall, I would give the line of Shelmet and Accelgor from this set a 3 out of 5 rating, which is an average rating, but this 3 rating is very close to a 4.  Individually I have Shelmet a 2 rating and Accelgor a 4.

Accelgor -- Plasma Blast Pokemon Card Review

Accelgor Plasma Blast Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Accelgor from the Plasma Blast Pokemon Card Set.  Accelgor is a stage 1, grass type Pokemon card, with an hp of 80.  It has a x2 weakness to fire type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a free retreat cost.  Accelgor does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Retribution, this move requires one colorless energy card and does 20 damage, plus if you had Escavalier get knocked out during your opponent's last turn, you may move all the energy cards attached to their active Pokemon back into their hand.  Accelgor's second move is called Signal Beam, this move requires two energy cards, one each of colorless and grass, and does 30 damage, plus it confuses the defending Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Accelgor is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Shelmet into play (I reviewed Shelmet from this set yesterday) and then evolve Shelmet into Accelgor.  If you read yesterday's review, you'll know that I thought Shelmet was a pretty solid basic Pokemon card so because of this, you may already have Shelmet in the active Pokemon spot when you get Accelgor into your hand.  The one thing I didn't like about the Shelmet card from this set was its high hp, but if you use that card with this Accelgor card, the retreat cost will no longer be a problem because Accelgor has a free retreat cost.  I think both of these Pokemon are very good, so if you're building a grass type deck, I could definitely see including up to 4 Shelmet and 3 Accelgor in that deck.  I would try to get these Pokemon into the active Pokemon spot early, if Shelmet is in the active Pokemon spot you can put the defending Pokemon to sleep, if Accelgor is in there, you can confuse the defending Pokemon.  Each special condition can be accomplished quite quickly with these cards and should allow you to set up your benched Pokemon after attacking only two total energy cards to the Pokemon in this line.  Unless you only have one energy card on Accelgor, I would pass on using Retribution unless you decide to build a deck that includes Karrablast and Escavalier as well.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an above average stage 1 Pokemon card.  Really the only thing keeping this card from a 5 rating is that it only has 80 hp, other than that, I like both of Accelgor's moves and I especially like that it has a free retreat costs.  I am going to give this Pokemon family from the Plasma Blast set, Shelmet and Accelgor, a 5 out of 5 rating, it is a very excellent line and one that should definitely be used in grass type decks.

Accelgor -- Dark Explorers Pokemon Card Review

Accelgor Dark Explorers Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Accelgor from the Dark Explorers Pokemon Card Set.  This is a stage 1, grass type Pokemon card with an hp of 90.  It has a x2 weakness to fire type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a free retreat cost.  Accelgor doesn't have an Ability but it does have two moves, the first move is called Hammer In which takes one grass energy card and does 20 damage.  Accelgor's second move is called Deck and Cover which takes two colorless energy cards and does 50 damage plus paralyzes and poisons the defending Pokemon and then allows you to move Accelgor and all cards attached to it back into your hand.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, this is a great card to put in any type deck since its best move is called Deck and Cover and requires two colorless energy cards so it can be put in any deck. I would include this card in a deck that has other Pokemon that can inflict special conditions on Pokemon since this one can do two.  I would also recommend putting this card in a deck with spread damage type Pokemon so that when you use Deck and Cover you can possibly knock out the opposing Pokemon by poisoning it.  I would put this card on the bench, attach two energy cards on it, then when your active Pokemon is knocked out or you retreat it, put this card in, use Deck and Cover once, then put another Pokemon in after that.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  This card is average at best, I really don't like the fact that you can't utilize Accelgor's free retreat cost well since its best move retreats Accelgor for free anyways.  Deck and Cover is a decent move and is average, I would only recommend using this card if you really need another couple grass Pokemon in your deck.

Tomorrow's Pokemon Card:
