Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Breloom from the Primal Clash Pokemon Card Set. Breloom is a stage 1, grass type Pokemon card, with an hp of 100. It has a x2 weakness to fire type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost. Breloom does not have an Ability but it does have two moves. The first move that this card has is called Dynamic Punch, this move requires two energy cards to use, one each of fighting and colorless, and does 40 damage plus 20 more damage if you get a heads when you flip a coin, plus if you flip a heads the defending Pokemon is confused. Breloom's second move is called Mega Kick, this move requires three energy cards to use, two fighting and one colorless, and does 80 damage.
Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Breloom is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Shroomish into play (I reviewed Shroomish from this set yesterday) and then evolve Shroomish into Breloom. If you read yesterday's review of Shroomish, you'll know that I thought that card was a below average Basic Pokemon card, it was very poor on its own, since all it could do was put the defending Pokemon to sleep, it couldn't do any damage, but if you plan on using this card with Breloom, it wouldn't be so bad. So knowing this about Shroomish and looking at this Breloom card, the first thing you'll want to note is that even though Breloom is a grass type Pokemon card, it requires fighting type energy cards to attack. What I would recommend with this line is if you're building a fighting type deck to consider using a 1-1 line of Shroomish and Breloom. That way, you can start the game with Shroomish in the active Pokemon spot, keep putting the defending Pokemon to sleep while setting up your benched Pokemon, or you can evolve Shroomish into Breloom on the bench, get three energy cards on Breloom and do 80 damage a turn. The only time I would recommend using Dynamic Punch over Mega Kick is if the defending Pokemon has more than 160 HP and cannot be knocked out in two turns, if that is the case, you could try and confuse the defending Pokemon and potentially make them knock out themselves.
Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating. In my opinion this is an above average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Primal Clash set. There isn't really anything I dislike about this card, it has a good HP, average retreat cost, and two above average moves. The only thing on this card is that you'll have to be a bit patient since it does require a minimum of two energy cards to attack. So together with Shroomish from this set, which I gave a 1 rating, I would give this Pokemon family a 3 out of 5 rating, used together, these two Pokemon can be a great addition to your deck.
