Heliolisk -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Heliolisk Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Heliolisk from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Set.  Heliolisk is a Stage 1, Lightning type Pokemon card, with a HP of 100. It has a x2 weakness to Fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to Metal type Pokemon, and a one Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Heliolisk does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move on this card is called Quick Attack, for one Colorless Energy card this move does 20 damage plus 20 more damage if you get a heads when flipping a coin.  Raging Thunder is the name of the second move on this card, for three Energy cards, one Lightning and two Colorless, this move does 120 damage, however the move also does 30 damage to one of your Benched Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Heliolisk is a Stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Helioptile into play (I reviewed Helioptile from this set yesterday) and then evolve Helioptile into Heliolisk.  If you read yesterday's review of Helioptile, you'll know that I thought it was an average Basic Pokemon card overall.  Other than being limited by having only one move, the card was solid overall, with an average HP, low retreat cost, and one move that could do damage and inflict a Special Condition.  So knowing this about Helioptile and looking at this Heliolisk card, you could certainly use a 1-1 line of this family, using Helioptile as a starter type Pokemon, then evolving it as soon as possible to do up to 40 damage a turn with Quick Attack.  Raging Thunder is probably a move that I would set up on the Bench, and also make sure to have a Pokemon on your Bench that either has a really high HP, has an Ability to remove damage, or does more damage with more damage on itself, that way you could utilize this move multiple times without harming your own Pokemon too much.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average Stage 1 Pokemon card overall.  This card really doesn't have any negatives, since it has a high HP, low retreat cost, and two moves, one that attacks quickly and the other that is a little slower but can do major damage.  I would recommend using this line in a Lightning type deck, especially if you can pawn off 30 damage a turn on one of your Benched Pokemon without doing too much harm to it.  Together with Helioptile from this set, which I gave a 3 out of 5 rating, these two cards get a 3 out of 5 rating combined.
