Infernape -- Steam Siege Pokemon Card Review

Infernape Steam Siege Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Infernape from the Steam Siege Pokemon Card Set.  Infernape is a stage 2, fire type Pokemon card, with an hp of 130.  It has a x2 weakness to water type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Infernape does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Flare Blitz, for two fire energy cards this move does 120 damage, however you must discard all fire energy attached to this Pokemon.  Infernape's second move is called Flare Up and for two fire energy cards does 200 damage, however if you don't have at least 10 fire energy cards in your discard pile, the move does nothing, after using this move, shuffle 10 fire energy cards from your discard pile back into your deck.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Infernape is a stage 2 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Chimchar into play and then evolve it into Monferno before you can evolve Monferno into Infernape, both of those Pokemon are from this set and I've reviewed both of them the last two days.  If you've read my reviews of those cards you'll know that I thought both were average to above average, both cards had quick attacking moves that could do a fair amount of damage, and the only knock on the two cards was that Monferno had 10 HP less than most Stage 1 cards.  So knowing this about the first two Pokemon in this line and looking at this Infernape card, the first thing you'll want to make sure when using this line is to include 4 Burning Energy cards in your deck, that way you can use 2 of them on Infernape and be able to do 120 damage a turn every single turn.  Another thing you may want to do is make sure you're using a heavy fire type deck so that you'll have lots of fire energy cards in your discard pile and then can use Flare Up to do 200 damage and get those energy cards back into your deck.  It may also make sense to have plenty of trainer cards allowing you to get energy cards into your hand, because even if you go through your deck quick, Flare Up with replenish it, you also can use Pokemon that discard energy cards since Flare Up can retrieve them.  Overall, this is a Pokemon line that a deck should be built around, this is a powerful fire type Pokemon that can do major damage for little energy, add in the fact this whole line is solid, and you could easily use a 4-3-3 line of this Pokemon family.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 5 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an excellent Stage 2 Pokemon card from the Steam Siege set and a Pokemon that a fire type deck should be built around.  With the invention of the Burning Energy card, that card makes this Infernape even better.  So again, if you're building a fire type deck and are looking for some quick power, I would highly recommend this Pokemon line, giving it a 4 out of 5 rating total.
