Mantine -- Steam Siege Pokemon Card Review

Mantine Steam Siege Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Mantine from the Steam Siege Pokemon Card Set.  Mantine is a basic, water type Pokemon card with an hp of 100, it has a x2 weakness to lightning type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to fighting type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Mantine does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Healing Wave and for one water energy card this move allows you to heal 10 damage from this card for each card you discard from your hand.  Mantine's second move is called Dwindling Wave and for three water energy cards this move does 90 damage minus 10 damage for each damage counter on Mantine.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Mantine is a basic Pokemon with no evolution forms, you only have to use this Pokemon in your deck if you want to use this card.  With that being said, you'll definitely want to use this card solely in a water type deck if you want to use it since it requires only water energy cards to attack.  With that being said, you'll want to set this card up on the bench so you can get three water energy cards on it so you can for sure do 90 damage with Dwindling Wave the first turn it is in the active Pokemon spot, after that, using Healing Wave to remove damage from Mantine and continue to do 90 damage a turn with Mantine.  I could only see using this card if you know of a quick way to retrieve cards from your discard pile, otherwise, Dwindling Wave will dwindle or you'll run out of cards in your hand pretty quickly and not be able to get anything set up.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is a below average Basic Pokemon card from the Steam Siege set.  I do like that this card has a solid HP, two moves, and a low retreat cost.  But because this card requires three energy cards for doing damage when attacking and the fact this card's main move loses damage pretty much every turn, there are only very specific scenarios where it even makes sense to use this card.  So, if you're building a water type deck, this card is worth a brief look, but it definitely isn't a card that needs to be in a deck.
