Garbodor -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Garbodor Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Garbodor from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Set.  Garbodor is a Stage 1, Psychic type Pokemon card, with a HP of 120. It has a x2 weakness to Psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a three Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Garbodor does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move on this card is called Trashalanche, for one Psychic Energy card this move does 20 damage times the number of Item cards in your opponent's discard pile.  Acid Spray is the name of this card's second move, for three Energy cards, one Psychic and two Colorless, this move does 70 damage, plus, you're able to discard an Energy attached to your opponent's Active Pokemon if you get a heads when flipping a coin.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Garbodor is a Stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Trubbish into play (I reviewed Trubbish from this set yesterday) and then evolve Trubbish into Garbodor.  If you read yesterday's review of Trubbish, you'll know that I thought it was a below average Basic Pokemon card overall.  The card did have a solid HP and two moves, but it also had a high retreat cost, was under-powered when trying to damage when attacking, and was slow on the attack to do damage.  If paired with Garbodor from this set, its Stomp Off move could help since it may discard an Item card from your opponent's deck, giving Garbodor more power with Trashalanche.  The best strategy with this Pokemon line would be to evolve the line on the Bench and wait for your opponent to discard Item cards, most competitive decks in the TCG right now use tons of Item cards, so if you wait long enough, the only move you'll want to use on Garbodor is Trashalanche, it could easily do well over 100 damage for one Energy card.  Trainer cards like the Field Blower which allows you to discard up to 2 Item cards in play, also helps Garbodor's move.  I would not recommend using Garbodor for its Acid Spray move, although it does do above average damage, I would rather just use the one Energy on this card and potentially do more damage.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 5 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an excellent Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Guardians Rising set, and easily the best rare card in the set.  Because of how prevalent Item cards are in the current meta game, Garbodor is extremely powerful, plus it is quick on the attack.  Combined with Trubbish from this set, I would give the two cards a 4 out of 5 rating, if you play the TCG, definitely consider building a deck around this line.
