Porygon -- Evolutions Pokemon Card Review

Porygon XY Evolutions Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Porygon from the XY Evolutions set.  Porygon is a basic, colorless type Pokemon card with a HP of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Porygon does not have an Ability and it only has one move.  The only move that this card has is called Conversion 3, for one colorless energy card this move allows you to choose one of the Pokemon types from the TCG and make your opponent's Pokemon weak to that Pokemon type until the end of your next turn.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Porygon is a Basic Pokemon with a Stage 1 evolution in Porygon2 and a Stage 2 evolution in Porygon-Z, you'll more than likely want to use Porygon with one or both of these Pokemon, however in Base Set, Porygon did not have any evolution forms, so neither of those two Pokemon are in this set, the newest set to feature those two Pokemon would be Ancient Origins.  So, just looking at this Porygon card, it is definitely a usable card if you have a way to freely switch Pokemon in and out of your active Pokemon spot, ideally you would use Porygon's Conversion move the first turn, change the opponent's weakness to something you have in your deck, then move that type of Pokemon into the active Pokemon spot the next turn and attack, more than likely doing double damage since the defending Pokemon will be weak to the attacking Pokemon type.  You could go back and forth with these two Pokemon for as long as possible.  The only trouble with this strategy is that it limits the Pokemon you can use since they have to have a free retreat cost or you have to use a bunch of trainer cards that allow you to switch out your active Pokemon for free.  While you could definitely build a deck around this strategy, I would rather just have one of these Porygon cards in a deck and give the strategy a try, and if it really works for you, add in Porygon cards as time goes by.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a below average Basic Pokemon card overall.  While I love Porygon's Conversion move since it can double the amount of damage an attack does, this card can't do any damage on its own, meaning you're always going to have to switch this card out if you want to do damage.  So, while there is potential with this card, there are much better standalone Basic Pokemon cards out there that should be considered before this card.

False, porygon was featured in Base Set and Team Rocket on its own.

False, mostly because I recall having a Porygon in Base set and/or Fossil.

False
Porygon was featured by itself back in the base set and in the team Rocket set. Porygon2 wasn't introduced until gen 2 and made its first appearance in the Aquapolis set and porygonZ wasn't introduced until gen 4 and was not in the tcg until the Great Encounters set.
