Meganium -- BREAKpoint Pokemon Card Review

Meganium BREAKpoint Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Meganium from the BREAKpoint Pokemon Card Set.  Meganium is a stage 2, grass type Pokemon card, with an hp of 150.  It has a x2 weakness to fire type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a three colorless energy card retreat cost.  Meganium's Ability is called Overgrow and says that if Meganium's HP is 50 or less, its attacks do 70 more damage.  Besides the Ability, Meganium has just one move called Green Force that does 50 damage for three energy cards, two grass and one colorless, plus you can heal the same amount of damage from Meganium as the amount of damage you do to the defending Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Megainum is a stage 2 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Chikorita into play and then evolve it into Bayleef before you can evolve Bayleef into Meganium, both of those Pokemon are from this set and I've reviewed both of them the last two days.  If you've read my reviews of those cards you'll know that I thought both Chikorita and Bayleef were average Pokemon cards, both could do a decent amount of damage, had solid HP, and could attack quickly.  So knowing this about the first two Pokemon in this line and looking at Meganium, this card certainly has some intrigue to it, since Green Force can do up to 120 damage a turn, plus heal that much damage from Meganium at the same time.  I like Meganium's Ability, letting Meganium do significant more damage when it is close to feinting, however, its move counteracts this Ability since it will heal damage when attacking.  Ideally, this card would be used in a deck in which one of your Pokemon does major damage to your opponent's Pokemon plus damage to your own Pokemon, that way, you can move Meganium into the active Pokemon spot, with a fair amount of damage on it already, use Green Force, do 120 damage, and then heal a ton of damage from Meganium.  It is disappointing that Green Force is under-powered when Meganium is healthy, but if you're strategic about it, the card can pack a major punch.  Is this card a must have in a grass type deck, definitely not, but it can play a nice role in a deck if you're looking for some power and longevity from a Pokemon in the active Pokemon spot.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an average Stage 2 Pokemon card from the BREAKpoint set.  I like that this card has a solid HP, a good Ability, and a move that has potential to do major damage.  Other than being under-powered when Meganium is healthy, this card is pretty average overall, just like the other two Pokemon in this line from this set, which is why I would give this entire line a 3 out of 5 rating.
