Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Beartic from the Plasma Storm Pokemon Card Set. Beartic is a stage 1, water type Pokemon card, with an hp of 130. It has a x2 weakness to metal type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a four colorless retreat cost. Beartic does not have an Ability but it does have two moves, the first move it has is called Powerful Rage, this move requires two energy cards, one each of water and colorless and does 20 damage times the number of damage counters on Beartic. Beartic's second move is called Glacier Drop, this move requires three energy cards, two water and one colorless, and does 90 damage plus discards the top card from your opponent's deck.
Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Beartic is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Cubchoo into play (I reviewed Cubchoo from this set yesterday) and then evolve Cubchoo into Beartic. If you read yesterday's review, you'll know that I thought Cubchoo was a slightly below average basic Pokemon card that could be used on its own but I wouldn't recommend doing that. Because of this, I would recommend setting up Beartic on the bench and then move it into the active Pokemon spot once you have three energy cards on Beartic. I would then use Glacier Drop every turn until Beartic gets 50 damage on it, I would then use Powerful Rage instead and do 100+ damage per turn until Beartic is knocked out or you retreat it. This Beartic card is very powerful and it would be a solid addition to any water type deck, I would recommend using a 2-2 line of Cubchoo and Beartic in a water type deck. Just remember that even though this card does major damage you're going to have to discard a ton of energy cards to retreat it, so it is best to put this card into the active Pokemon spot to win the game or with the idea that you're going to use this card until it is knocked out.
Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating. In my opinion this is a very good stage 1 Pokemon card and would definitely be a good addition to your water type deck. I like that Beartic has way above average hp, and has two awesome moves. Both moves do major damage and surprisingly neither move requires a ton of energy, so Beartic isn't really that slow. The one big downfall on this card is its retreat cost. Overall, I would give the line of Cubchoo and Beartic a 3 out of 5 rating, it is slightly above average and a good choice for any water type deck.
