Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Rocket’s Scyther ex from the EX Team Rocket Returns set. This is a basic, dark type Pokemon card, with an hp of 80. It has a x2 weakness to fire type Pokemon, a -30 resistance to fighting type Pokemon and a one colorless energy card retreat cost. Scyther’s Poke-Body is called Dual Armor and is quite similar to Scizor’s Poke-Body from yesterday, it says that if Scyther has any grass energy cards attached to it, Scyther is both grass and darkness types. Besides the Poke-Body, Scyther has two moves, the first move is called Bounce which does 10 damage for one colorless energy cards and allows you to switch Scyther with one of your benched Pokemon, if you choose. Scyther’s second move is called Slashing Strike which takes three colorless energy cards and does 40 damage, however you can’t use this move two turns in a row.
PrimetimePokemon's Take:
You can definitely tell this is a basic ex Pokemon card that evolves into another ex card because this card sure is weak. There is no way I would put this card out there right away with no energy cards attached to it because it only has 80 hp and has a shot of getting knocked out in a move or two. I do like the fact that both of Scyther’s moves require colorless energy cards so you can put it in any type deck but you’ll want to attach a grass energy card to it to be able to use its Poke-Body. The artwork on this card is okay, I like the silver background color but I don’t like how Scyther is positioned in the picture way to the side of it. I believe I pulled three of these from the EX Team Rocket Returns box I opened on YouTube, so yes I have this card in my collection.
Pokemon Card Price:
This card sells on eBay for around $10, on Professor-Oak it sells for $24.32 and $22.49 on PokeOrder.
