Vanillite -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Vanillite Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Vanillite from the Guardians Rising set.  Vanillite a Basic, Water type Pokemon card with a HP of 50.  It has a x2 weakness to Metal type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Vanillite does not have an Ability and it only has one move.  Its only move is called Triple Spin, for one Water Energy card, the move does 10 damage times the number of heads you get when you flip 3 coins.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Vanillite is a Basic Pokemon card with a Stage 1 evolution in Vanillish, and a Stage 2 evolution in Vanilluxe, which I'll be reviewing the next couple of days, you'll more than likely want to use some of those Pokemon with this card, however, since I have not reviewed any of those cards yet, I will just act like Vanillite does not have any evolution forms and that it will be used on its own.  On its own, if you're using 4 Trick Coin Trainer cards in your deck, or have another way to guarantee at least one heads when flipping coins when performing Triple Spin, this card has potential for a starter type Pokemon.  Otherwise, keep this card on your Bench if you plan on using Vanillish, or do not use it at all.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a below average Basic Pokemon card from the Guardians Rising set.  Like I stated above, this card does have a decent move in Triple Spin, but other than that, it has a below average HP, and its only move is based off of coin flips.  So overall, look elsewhere for a Basic, Water type Pokemon to use in your deck.

Glalie -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Glalie Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Glalie from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Set.  Glalie is a Stage 1, Water type Pokemon card, with a HP of 120. It has a x2 weakness to Metal type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a three Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Glalie does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move on this card is called Crunch, for two Water Energy cards this move does 40 damage, plus if you get a heads when flipping a coin, the defending Pokemon must have an Energy discarded from it.  Raging Floe is the second move on this card, for three Water Energy cards this move does 70 damage, plus 80 more damage if Glalie has any damage on it.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Glalie is a Stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Snorunt into play (I reviewed Snorunt from this set yesterday) and then evolve Snorunt into Glalie.  If you read yesterday's review of Snorunt, you'll know that I thought it was an average Basic Pokemon card overall.  The only negative on that card was its high retreat cost, other than that it had a solid HP and two good moves.  So knowing this about Snorunt and looking at this Glalie card, if you're building a Water type deck and are in need of a powerful attacker, I would highly recommend using Glalie in your deck.  Not only can you just use Snorunt as a starter type Pokemon and evolve it in the Active Pokemon spot, but you can use Pokemon that do damage to your own Pokemon with this Glalie card, all because of its Raging Floe move, which does 150 damage a turn for only three Water Energy cards.  So again, if you need a powerful Pokemon for your deck, definitely try and fit this card in.  Like Snorunt, this card has two good moves, an even better HP, but it does have a high retreat cost.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an above average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Guardians Rising set.  Other than a high retreat cost, this card is excellent overall.  It has a high HP, and two great moves, the first move can prevent your opponent from attacking by having an Energy card discarded from their Active Pokemon, and its second move can do up to 150 damage a turn.  Combined with Snorunt from this set, I would give these two cards a combined 4 out of 5 rating.

Tomorrow's Pokemon Card:
So thanks for reading today's Pokemon card review of Glalie from the Guardians Rising set, stay tuned for tomorrow's card review of Vanillite, which is from this same set.  Make sure to check below for the Free Pokemon TCG Online Codes!

Snorunt -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Snorunt Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Snorunt from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Set.  Snorunt is a Basic, Water type Pokemon card with a HP of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to Metal type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Snorunt does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move on this card is called Chilly, for one Water Energy card, this move does 10 damage.  Frost Breath is this card's second move, for two Water Energy cards, this move does 20 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Snorunt is a Basic Pokemon card with a Stage 1 evolution in Glalie, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution.  So, on its own, this card could certainly be used as a starter type Pokemon in a Water type deck.  Because this card can attack for only one Energy card, you can start attacking the defending Pokemon the first turn of the game.  Really, the only downside to this card is its retreat cost, but if you put two Energy cards on Snorunt to use Frost Breath, this shouldn't be a problem.  This is certainly a card that can be used on its own, or put into the Active Pokemon spot for a turn or two then evolve it into Glalie.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Glalie, this is an average Basic Pokemon card overall.  This card has a solid HP, and two good moves, like I mentioned above, the only downside on this card is its high retreat cost, otherwise, this is a perfectly fine Basic Pokemon card to use in a Water Type deck.

Tomorrow's Pokemon Card:
So thanks for reading today's Pokemon card review of Snorunt from the Guardians Rising set, stay tuned for tomorrow's card review of Snorunt's Stage 1 evolution in Glalie, which is from this same set.  Make sure to check below for the Free Pokemon TCG Online Codes!

Wailord -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Wailord Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Wailord from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Set.  Wailord is a Stage 1, Water type Pokemon card, with a HP of 200. It has a x2 weakness to Grass type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a four Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Wailord does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  Dive is the name of the first move on this card, for three Energy cards, two Water and one Colorless, this move does 40 damage, plus, if you flip a heads when flipping a coin, all effects of an attack on Wailord, including damage, during your opponent's next turn is prevented.  Wailord's second move is called Open Sea, for four Energy cards, three Water and one Colorless, this move does 80 damage, plus it heals 30 damage from each of your Water type Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Wailord is a Stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Wailmer into play (I reviewed Wailmer from this set yesterday) and then evolve Wailmer into Wailord.  If you read yesterday's review of Wailmer, you'll know that I thought it was a below average Basic Pokemon card overall.  For a Basic Pokemon, the card had a very high HP and could do a fair amount of damage, having two moves, however, similar to this card, both moves it had were on the slow side, and neither were that powerful.  So knowing this about Wailmer and looking at this Wailord card, if you're building a mostly Water Type deck, I could see using a 1-1 line of this Pokemon family.  Of course you'll want to set this line up on the Bench, then you could use Open Sea a couple of turns and heal your Bench Pokemon.  Because this card is so slow, it is definitely going to hurt if you have to move it to the Active Pokemon spot early, or if you have to retreat it.  I would not consider using this card if you can't use the healing effect with Wailord's Open Sea move.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an above average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Guardians Rising set.  Although this card is extremely slow on the attack, has a high retreat cost, and can't do that much damage when attacking, because it can heal 30 damage a turn from all of your Water Pokemon in play, I am giving this card an above average rating overall.  Combined with Wailmer from this set, which I gave a 2 out of 5 rating, I would give this line a 3 out of 5 rating total.

Wailmer -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Wailmer Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Wailmer from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Set.  Wailmer is a Basic, Water type Pokemon card with a HP of 120.  It has a x2 weakness to Grass type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a three Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Wailmer does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move on this card is called Splash, for two Energy cards, one each of Water and Colorless, this move does 20 damage.  Wailmer's second move is called Surf, for four Energy cards, three Water and one Colorless, this move does 70 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Wailmer is a Basic Pokemon card with a Stage 1 evolution in Wailord, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution.  So, on its own, I would not recommend using this card in a deck, especially without Wailord.  Although this card has potential to do a good amount of damage, has a high HP, and two moves, because this card is so slow on the attack, and neither move it has can do that much damage for the Energy cards required, I would look elsewhere for a Basic Water type Pokemon to use.  Plus, if you get Wailmer into the Active Pokemon spot early, you have to either use a Trainer to get Wailmer out of the Active Pokemon spot, or you have to discard three Colorless Energy cards.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Wailord, this is a below average Basic Pokemon card overall.  Like I mentioned above, this card does have some positives, like a high HP and two moves, but those things do not make up for the fact that this card is slow on the attack, somewhat under-powered, and has a high retreat cost.

Tomorrow's Pokemon Card:

Sharpedo -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Sharpedo Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Sharpedo from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Set.  Sharpedo is a Stage 1, Water type Pokemon card, with a HP of 90. It has a x2 weakness to Grass type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a free retreat cost.  Sharpedo does not have an Ability and it only has one move.  The only move on this card is called Jet Headbutt, for two Energy cards, one each of Water and Colorless, this move does 70 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Sharpedo is a Stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Carvanha into play (I reviewed Carvanha from this set yesterday) and then evolve Carvanha into Sharpedo.  If you read yesterday's review of Carvanha, you'll know that I thought it was a below average Basic Pokemon card overall.  The card had a low HP and was very limited in what it could do, with only one move that could do 10 damage.  So knowing this about Carvanha and looking at this Sharpedo card, because Sharpedo has a free retreat cost, it is best to set this card up on the Bench, and potentially have multiple Pokemon with free retreat costs, that way you can move these cards in and out of the Active Pokemon spot without having to discard any Energy.  Once Sharpedo is set up, it is a very powerful attacker and does not require much Energy to attack.  So, if you're building a Water type deck and looking for some power, I would recommend using this line in your deck, at least a 1-1 line.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an above average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Guardians Rising set.  Although this card is very limited, in only having one move, because its one move is well above average and it has a free retreat cost, I am a fan of this card and think it should be used in decks.  Together with Carvanha from this set, I would give these two cards a 3 out of 5 rating.

Carvanha -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Carvanha Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Carvanha from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Set.  Carvanha is a Basic, Water type Pokemon card with a HP of 50.  It has a x2 weakness to Grass type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Carvanha does not have an Ability and it only has one move.  Its only move is called Bite, for one Water Energy card, this move does 10 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Carvanha is a Basic Pokemon card with a Stage 1 evolution in Sharpedo, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution.  So, on its own, this card is too limited to use, especially since it has a below average HP as well.  If you can put this card into the Active Pokemon spot for one turn before evolving it, it would be fine then, but if you can't evolve it, doing 10 damage a turn late in games won't do much good, plus a card with 50 HP late in games will quickly get knocked out.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Sharpedo, this is a below average Basic Pokemon card overall.  Like I mentioned above, because this card has a below average HP, and can only do a maximum of 10 damage per turn, it just isn't good enough to warrant use.  The one positive on this card is that it can attack for only one Energy card.  But again, without using Sharpedo in your deck, I would pass on using this card.

Delibird -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Delibird Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Delibird from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Set.  Delibird is a Basic, Water type Pokemon card with a HP of 90.  Delibird has a x2 weakness to Metal type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Delibird does not have an Ability, but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is All the Presents, for one Colorless Energy card, this move allows you to flip a coin until you get tails, for each heads, you may search your deck for a card and put it into your hand.  The second move on this card is called Surprise Attack, for one Water Energy card, this move does 40 damage, however, you must flip a coin when using this move, if you get a tails, the move does nothing.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Delibird is a Basic Pokemon card with no evolution forms, you'll only have to use this card in a deck if you want to use Delibird.  So knowing this, I would only recommend using Delibird if you're using 4 Trick Coin Trainer cards in your deck, otherwise this card is way too risky to use since both of its moves are based off of coin flips.  Both moves on this card have the potential to be very good, and if you're able to flip at least one heads every turn, this card would make for an excellent starter type Pokemon in a Water type deck, since it can do 40 damage per turn and it has a high HP, giving you plenty of time to set up your Benched Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  So, in my opinion, this card is a below average Basic Pokemon card from the Guardians Rising set.  In a perfect world, where heads comes up a majority of the time, this card is certainly above average, but like I mentioned above, without some way to guarantee heads appearing more often than not, I would not recommend using this card in a deck.

Politoed -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Politoed Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Politoed from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Set.  Politoed is a Stage 2, Water type Pokemon card, with a HP of 130.  It has a x2 weakness to Grass type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Politoed does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Roll Call, for one Water Energy card this move allows you to search your deck for a Poliwag, a Poliwhirl, and a Poliwrath, and put them on your Bench.  Politoed's second move is called Hyper Jump, for three Energy cards, one Water and two Colorless, this move does 100 damage, however, after using this card, you must shuffle Politoed and all cards attached to it, back into your deck.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Politoed is a Stage 2 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Poliwag into play and then evolve it into Poliwhirl before you can evolve Poliwhirl into Politoed.  Surprisingly, Politoed is the only evolution in this line in the Guardians Rising set, all three other Pokemon, including Poliwrath, are in the Sun & Moon set.  If you've read my reviews of those Pokemon you'll know that I thought all three cards were average individually and together.  I thought Poliwag was a solid starter type Pokemon for a Water type deck since it had an average HP and two moves, one that could do up to 60 damage per turn and the other that could do 10 damage for one Energy card.  Poliwhirl was average on its own as well, it had a solid HP and two moves, but its first move required coin flips to do damage, and its second move was average at best.  Poliwrath from Sun & Moon had two decent moves, one that could inflict a Special Condition and the second that could do major damage when the defending Pokemon was inflicted with a Special Condition.  So knowing about this line from Sun & Moon and taking a look at Politoed, the only reason to include this card in a deck is to get to the other Stage 2 evolution of Poliwag quicker.  Potentially, you could get Politoed in the Active Pokemon spot, use its first move one turn, getting Poliwrath on your Bench, then the next turn do 100 damage and put Poliwrath into the Active Pokemon spot.  Without Poliwrath in your deck, I would not recommend using Politoed.  Even if you have Poliwrath in your deck, this card isn't necessary for you to use, even though it can do major damage.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an average Stage 2 Pokemon card from the Guardians Rising set.  Although this card is slow to set up, when you want to do major damage, and you can only do major damage once, I still like this card overall, since it has a well above average attack and can help get Poliwrath on your Bench very quickly.  Overall, if you're looking at this Politoed card and the other evolution forms from Sun & Moon, the entire line is average.

Tentacruel -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Tentacruel Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Tentacruel from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Set.  Tentacruel is a Stage 1, Water type Pokemon card, with a HP of 110. It has a x2 weakness to Grass type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Tentacruel does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  Poison Sting is the first move that this card has, for two Colorless Energy cards this move does 30 damage, plus it Poisons the defending Pokemon.  Seething Tentacles is Tentacruel's second move, for three Colorless Energy cards, this move does 40 damage, plus either 40 more damage if you get a heads when flipping a coin, or paralysis for the defending Pokemon if you flip a tails.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Tentacruel is a Stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Tentacool into play (I reviewed Tentacool from this set yesterday) and then evolve Tentacool into Tentacruel.  If you read yesterday's review of Tentacool, you'll know that I thought it was an average Basic Pokemon card overall.  The card had a solid HP, low retreat cost, and a move that required one Colorless Energy card and did 10 damage.  So knowing this about Tentacool and looking at this Tentacruel card, you could definitely start the game with Tentacool in the Active Pokemon spot, use it for a turn, then evolve it into Tentacruel the next, allowing you to Poison the defending Pokemon and do 30 damage the second turn of the game.  One thing I do like about this line is that both cards only require Colorless Energy cards to attack, meaning the line can be used in any type deck.  I would recommend this card more if you're already building a deck that includes Pokemon that inflict special conditions, this Tentacruel card would fit right in.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Guardians Rising set.  Like I mentioned above, I think this card is solid overall, it does have a great HP, and two good moves, both doing a fair amount of damage.  The only downside to this card is it is a little slow on the attack, and could end up doing below average damage when using Seething Tentacles.  Together with Tentacool from this set, I would give both Pokemon a 3 out of 5 rating, they make for a solid line overall.

Tentacool -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Tentacool Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Tentacool from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Set.  Tentacool is a Basic, Water type Pokemon card with a HP of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to Grass type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Tentacool does not have an Ability and it only has one move.  Its only move is called Sludge Shock, for one Colorless Energy card this move does 10 damage and makes your opponent's Active Pokemon unable to heal itself during your opponent's next turn.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Tentacool is a Basic Pokemon card with a Stage 1 evolution in Tentacruel, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution.  So, on its own, this card could certainly be used as a starter type Pokemon, since it has a solid HP, low retreat cost, and can attack for only one Energy card.  I like the fact that Sludge Shock requires a Colorless Energy card, meaning it can be used in any type deck, however, since it just has the one move, it is limited, so I would not recommend using many of these in a deck without Tentacruel.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Tentacruel, this is an average Basic Pokemon card from the Guardians Rising set.  Like I mentioned above, this card is solid all around, with a good move, low retreat cost, and average HP.  The only thing holding this card back is that it is limited with only one move and only being able to do a maximum of 10 damage.

Alolan Ninetales GX -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Alolan Ninetales GX Guardians Rising
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Alolan Ninetales GX from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Set.  Alolan Ninetales GX is a Stage 1, Water type Pokemon card, with a HP of 210.  It has a x2 weakness to Metal type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Alolan Ninetales does not have an Ability but it does have three moves.  Its first move is called Ice Blade, for two Colorless Energy cards this move does 50 damage to one of your opponent's Pokemon.  The second move on this card is called Blizzard Edge, for three Energy cards, two Water and one Colorless, this move does 160 damage, however you must discard 2 Energy cards from Alolan Ninetales after using this move.  The third move on this card is Alolan Ninetales' GX move, it is called Ice Path and for two Colorless Energy cards it allows you to move all damage counters from Alolan Ninetales GX to your opponent's Active Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, first off, the way a Pokemon GX works is that it is used instead of a regular Alolan Ninetales card, so you do not need to first play Alolan Ninetales and then evolve it into Alolan Ninetales GX, instead you can evolve Alolan Vulpix directly into Alolan Ninetales GX.  In play, only one GX move can be used during the entire game, and once a Pokemon GX is knocked out, two prize cards are taken instead of one.  If you read my review of Alolan Vulpix from this set, you'll know that I thought it was an average Basic Pokemon card overall, I liked how it could do both damage and find Pokemon in your deck for two Energy cards or less, and I recommended using it as a starter type Pokemon.  So knowing this about Alolan Vulpix and looking at this GX card, this card would work in a spread attack type deck since it can do 50 damage to any one of your opponent's Pokemon in play.  This card can also do major damage with both Blizzard Edge and Ice Path GX, but because the first move you must discard 2 Energy cards after using and the second move you can only use once, in my opinion, there isn't much of a reason to use this card outside of in a spread attack type deck, and even then, there are better cards out there to use, ones that don't let your opponent have two Prize cards when defeated.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is a below average Stage 1 Pokemon GX from the Guardians Rising set.  Although this card has a solid HP and three moves, all doing a good amount of damage, there just isn't enough on this card for me to want to use it in a deck, there are just too many consequences when attacking.  Together with Alolan Vulpix from this set, I would give these two cards a 2 out of 5 rating, I would recommend looking elsewhere.

Alolan Vulpix -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Alolan Vulpix Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Alolan Vulpix from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Set.  Alolan Vulpix is a Basic, Water type Pokemon card with a HP of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to Metal type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Alolan Vulpix does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Beacon, for zero Energy cards, this move allows you to search your deck for up to 2 Pokemon and put them into your hand.  Alolan Vulpix's second move is called Icy Snow, for two Colorless Energy cards, this move does 20 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Alolan Vulpix is a Basic Pokemon card with a Stage 1 evolution in Alolan Ninetales GX, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution.  So, on its own, if your deck has a lot of Pokemon that are evolution Pokemon, like Stage 1, Stage 2, Mega EX, etc, this is a perfect starter type Pokemon card to use in your deck, you can start the game with Alolan Vulpix in the Active Pokemon spot and for no Energy at all, get those Pokemon onto your Bench.  If you're using 4 Double Colorless Energy cards in your deck, Icy Snow requires only one Energy card to use, therefore allowing you to do damage or find Pokemon with this card.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Alolan Vulpix, this is an average Basic Pokemon overall.  Like I mentioned above, if you normally have Trainer cards in your deck to find Pokemon to put into play, this Alolan Vulpix card can replace those Trainer cards.  So, regardless of the type of deck you're building, I think this card should be considered.

Alolan Sandslash -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Alolan Sandslash Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Alolan Sandslash from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Set.  Alolan Sandslash is a Stage 1, Water type Pokemon card, with a HP of 110. It has a x2 weakness to Metal type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Slush Rush is the name of Alolan Sandslash's Ability, it allows you to draw a card from your deck, once per turn.  Besides the Ability, this card just has one move called Smash Turn, for three Energy cards, one Water and two Colorless, this move does 50 damage, after attacking, you must switch Alolan Sandslash with a Benched Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Alolan Sandslash is a Stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Alolan Sandshrew into play (I reviewed Alolan Sandshrew from this set yesterday) and then evolve Alolan Sandshrew into Alolan Sandslash.  If you read yesterday's review of Alolan Sandshrew, you'll know that I thought it was a below average Basic Pokemon card overall.  It did have a solid HP, low retreat cost, and two moves, but neither move it has was very good.  Because of this, and the fact that you'll only want to use Alolan Sandslash for its Ability, I would not use more than a 1-1 line of this Pokemon family in a deck.  Ideally you'll keep this line on the Bench at all times, therefore you'd be able to use this family in any type deck.  So, if you're looking for a way to draw extra cards every turn, I would highly recommend using this line in a deck, it can easily replace multiple Trainer cards in your deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an above average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Guardians Rising set.  I am giving this card an above average rating solely based on its Ability, other than that, its only move does below average damage and makes Alolan Sandslash retreat after attacking.  Together with Alolan Sandshrew from this set, I would give this line a 3 out of 5 rating, use it only if you want to draw cards with Alolan Sandslash's Ability.

Alolan Sandshrew -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Alolan Sandshrew Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Alolan Sandshrew from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Set.  Alolan Sandshrew is a Basic, Water type Pokemon card with a HP of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to Metal type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Alolan Sandshrew does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Defense Curl, for zero Energy cards, this move prevents all damage done to this Pokemon by attacks during your opponent's next turn, if you get a heads when flipping a coin.  The second move on this card is called Ice Ball, for three Energy cards, one Water and two Colorless, this move does 30 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Alolan Sandshrew is a Basic Pokemon card with a Stage 1 evolution in Alolan Sandslash, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution.  So, on its own, unless you are a fan of the defensive strategy of setting up your Pokemon, where you put a card into the Active Pokemon spot that can't do any damage when attacking, but instead has the chance to prevent damage, therefore allowing it to stay in the Active Pokemon spot for several turns while your Benched Pokemon are set up, I would not recommend using this card on its own.  Although this card can do damage when attacking with Ice Ball, for three Energy cards, 30 damage is not much.  So I would definitely prefer to use this entire line instead of just Alolan Sandshrew.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Alolan Sandslash, this is a below average Basic Pokemon card overall.  This card does have some positives, like a solid HP, low retreat cost, and two moves, but neither move on this card is that great, so like I mentioned above, if you are not using Alolan Sandslash in your deck, there is no reason to use this card in it.

Tomorrow's Pokemon Card:

Turtonator GX -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Turtonator GX Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Turtonator GX from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Set.  Turtonator GX is a Basic, Fire type Pokemon card, with a HP of 190.  It has a x2 weakness to Water type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a three Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Turtonator GX does not have an Ability but it does have three moves.  The first move that this card has is called Shell Trap, for two Colorless Energy cards, this move does 20 damage, plus, if Turtonator GX is attacked during your opponent's next turn, and even if it is knocked out, you may place 8 damage counters on the attacking Pokemon.  Bright Flame is the name of Turtonator GX's second move, for three Energy cards, two Fire and one Colorless, this move does 160 damage, however after using the move you must discard 2 Fire Energy cards from Turtonator GX.  This card's GX move is called Nitro Tank GX, for one Fire Energy card, you may search your discard pile for up to 5 Fire Energy cards and attach them to your Pokemon in any way that you'd like.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, first off, the way a Pokemon GX works is that it is used instead of a regular Turtonator card, so you do not need to first play Turtonator and then evolve it into Turtonator GX.  In play, only one GX move can be used during the entire game, and once a Pokemon GX is knocked out, two prize cards are taken instead of one.  If you're building a majority Fire type deck or you need a card with a lot of power, I would highly recommend using this Turtonator GX card.  For heavy Fire type decks, you could use Turtonator GX's GX move to retrieve discarded Fire Energy cards from the discard pile and set up your Bench.  If you are looking for a powerful attacker in your deck, you could either do 100 damage total every turn for one Special Energy card with Shell Trap, or attach two Burning Energy cards to this card and do 160 damage a turn with Bright Flame.  Regardless of the move you decide to use, this card is very powerful, and should for sure be included in Fire type decks.  Because it is a little slower on the attack and on the retreat, and since you can only use GX moves once per game, you really don't need more than 2 of this card in a deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 5 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an excellent GX card from the Guardians Rising set.  I usually prefer more powerful attacking cards, and this card is right up my alley!  Being able to do a minimum of 100 damage every turn is pretty awesome, add in the fact that you can set up your Benched Pokemon very quickly with this card's GX move, and you'll see why I gave this card such a good rating.

Turtonator -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Turtonator Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Turtonator from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Set.  Turtonator is a Basic, Fire type Pokemon card with a HP of 110.  Turtonator has a x2 weakness to Water type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a three Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Turtonator does not have an Ability, but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Body Slam, for two Colorless Energy cards, this move does 30 damage, plus it can Paralyze the defending Pokemon if you get a heads when flipping a coin.  Heat Blast is the name of Turtonator's second move, for three Energy cards, two Fire and one Colorless, this move does 90 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Turtonator is a Basic Pokemon card with no evolution forms, you'll only have to use this card in a deck if you want to use Turtonator.  So knowing this, because the main reason you'll want to use this Turtonator card is for its Heat Blast move, you won't have to use more than one of these cards in a deck, and you'll want to set it up on the Bench before moving it into the Active Pokemon spot.  You can put three Energy cards on Turtonator on the Bench, then attack with Heat Blast right away doing 90 damage a turn.  Despite the high retreat cost on this card, I think Heat Blast is a powerful enough move that it is worth using in a Fire type deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion this is an above average Basic Pokemon card from the Guardians Rising set.  Like I mentioned above, despite being a slow attacker and having a high retreat cost, I think this card is powerful enough, and has a high enough HP, that it can be used as an attacker in almost any Fire type deck out there.

Salazzle -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Salazzle Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Salazzle from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Set.  Salazzle is a Stage 1, Fire type Pokemon card, with a HP of 110. It has a x2 weakness to Water type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Hot Poison is the name of Salazzle's Ability, it says that when you play Salazzle from your hand to evolve one of your Pokemon, you may Burn and Poison the defending Pokemon.  Besides the Ability, this card has just one move called Flamethrower, for three Energy cards, one Fire and two Colorless, this move does 90 damage, however you must discard an Energy card from Salazzle after using.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Salazzle is a Stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Salandit into play (I reviewed Salandit from this set yesterday) and then evolve Salandit into Salazzle.  If you read yesterday's review of Salandit, you'll know that I thought it was an average Basic Pokemon card overall, it had an above average HP, and two moves, one that could attack for one Energy card, and another that could do up to 60 damage per turn for only one Double Colorless Energy card.  So knowing this about Salandit and looking at this Salazzle card, you can still certainly use Salandit as a starter type Pokemon in a Fire type deck.  Ideally, the best way to use this line would be to use multiple Salandit cards and a Double Colorless Energy, that way you could return Salazzle to your hand every other turn therefore Poisoning the defending Pokemon and doing 60 damage per turn for only one Energy card.  Also, if you're using a Burning Energy card with Salazzle, you can use Flamethrower every single turn without having to actually discard an Energy card.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an above average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Guardians Rising set.  Other than only having one move which requires three Energy cards, this card has an above average HP, a great Ability if you're able to return Salazzle back to your hand, and a great move that does 90 damage a turn every single turn.  Together with Salandit from this set, I would give these two cards a 4 out of 5 rating, if you're building a Fire type deck, I would take a close look at these two cards.

Salandit -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Salandit Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Salandit from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Set.  Salandit is a Basic, Fire type Pokemon card with a HP of 70.  It has a x2 weakness to Water type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Salandit does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Scratch, for one Fire Energy card this move does 10 damage.  Salandit's second move is called Venoshock, for two Colorless Energy cards this move does 20 damage plus 40 more damage if the defending Pokemon is Poisoned.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Salandit is a Basic Pokemon card with a Stage 1 evolution in Salazzle, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution.  So, on its own, this card could certainly be used as a starter type Pokemon in a Fire type deck, since it can attack for one Energy card and because it has an above average HP.  Ideally, you would pair this card would a Pokemon that has an Ability that can Poison the defending Pokemon from the Bench, that way, for two Colorless Energy cards or one Double Colorless Energy card, you could do 60 damage a turn with Salandit as your starter Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Salazzle, this is an average Basic Pokemon card overall.  Like I stated above, this is a very solid card overall, it has an above average HP, low retreat cost, and two solid moves.  Not only can this card attack for one Energy card, but it can do up to 60 damage a turn for one Special Energy card.  So, if you're building a Fire type deck, this card is worth a look.

Oricorio #14/145 -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Oricorio Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Oricorio from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Set.  Oricorio is a Basic, Fire type Pokemon card with a HP of 90.  Oricorio has a x2 weakness to Water type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Oricorio does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  Passionate Dance is the first move that this card has, for one Fire Energy card this move allows you to search your deck for up to 3 Basic Fire Energy cards and attach them to your Bench Pokemon.  Oricorio's second move is called Kindle, for two Fire Energy cards this move does 30 damage, if you decide to discard an Energy attached to Oricorio, your opponent also must discard an Energy card attached to their Active Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Oricorio is a Basic Pokemon card with no evolution forms, you'll only have to use this card in a deck if you want to use Oricorio.  So knowing this, if you're building a majority Fire type deck, I would highly recommend using this card as a starter type Pokemon, since you can use Passionate Dance to quickly set up your Bench Pokemon.  Plus, if you are using 4 Burning Energy cards in your deck, when using Kindle, you can discard an Energy card every turn, making your opponent discard an Energy and having your Burning Energy return to Oricorio after discarding it.  So even though I don't like the fact there are so many Oricorio cards in this set, I am a big fan of this card, and it is worth a look when deck building.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 5 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion this is an excellent Basic Pokemon card from the Guardians Rising set.  Like I mentioned above, this card makes for an excellent starter type Pokemon card in the TCG since it can add Energy cards to your Bench Pokemon quickly, and it can do damage plus make your opponent discard Energy when attacking with Kindle.  Overall, I would highly recommend this card for your deck.

Chandelure -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Chandelure Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Chandelure from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Set.  Chandelure is a Stage 2, Fire type Pokemon card, with a HP of 140.  It has a x2 weakness to Water type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Shady Move is the name of Chandelure's Ability, it says that once per turn you may move 1 damage counter from 1 Pokemon to another Pokemon.  Besides the Ability, Chandelure has one move called Super Singe, for one Fire Energy card this move does 50 damage plus Burns the defending Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Chandelure is a Stage 2 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Litwick into play and then evolve it into Lampent before you can evolve Lampent into Chandelure, both of those Pokemon are from this set and I've reviewed both of them the last two days.  If you've read my reviews of those cards you'll know that I thought both cards were below average overall.  The knock on both Pokemon in this line so far are their low HP, besides the HP, both Pokemon have one move that requires one Energy card to use, so they are quick on the attack and can do a fair amount of damage.  But because both Litwick and Lampent have below average HP, I would strictly try and use this line for Chandelure's Ability.  You can either put a Pokemon with a very high HP on your Bench and move damage from your Active Pokemon to that Pokemon every turn, or you could use Shady Move to spread damage around on your opponent's Pokemon and knock out their weaker Benched Pokemon.  Overall, I think this is a great card to use in a spread attack type deck specifically, and I could certainly see using a 1-1-1 line of this Pokemon family.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an above average Stage 2 Pokemon card from the Guardians Rising set.  Other than just having one move, this card is solid overall and has a great Ability, meaning you never have to put this card into the Active Pokemon spot to be useful.  So again, if you're building a spread attack type deck, or have a lot of Pokemon with high HP, this entire line should certainly be considered.  Even though I gave the first two Pokemon in this line 2 out of 5 ratings, I would give this entire line a 3 out of 5 rating.

Lampent -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Lampent Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Lampent from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card set.  Lampent is a Stage 1, Fire type Pokemon card, with a HP of 80.  It has a x2 weakness to Water type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Lampent does not have an Ability and it only has one move called Will-O-Wisp, for one Fire Energy card this move does 30 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Lampent is a Stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Litwick into play (I reviewed Litwick from this set yesterday) and then evolve Litwick into Lampent.  Litwick does have a Stage 2 evolution in Chandelure, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, that you'll probably want to use with this Pokemon line but since I haven't reviewed that card yet, the strategy below will act like Lampent is the final evolution in this line.  So if you read my review of Litwick, you'll know that I thought that card was a below average Basic Pokemon card overall, I did like that it had a low retreat cost and a move that could not only do damage but put the defending Pokemon Asleep, but with a below average HP and only having one move, the card wasn't recommended when deck building.  So knowing this about Litwick and looking at this Lampent card, this card is very similar in that it has a below average HP, only one move, and a low retreat cost.  Because Lampent is limited in having only one move, and its only move can only do a maximum of 30 damage, I would pass on using Lampent in a deck without also using Chandelure, there just is no reason to try and use this card in a deck since neither its HP or move are that great.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is a below average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Guardians Rising set.  Similarly to Litwick from yesterday, this card just isn't powerful enough, nor has the HP to be used in a deck, especially without Chandelure.  Because of this, both Litwick and Chandelure combined get the same rating that I gave each card individually, a 2 out of 5 rating.

Tomorrow's Pokemon Card:
So thanks for reading today's Pokemon card review of Lampent from the Guardians Rising set, stay tuned for tomorrow's card review of Litwick's Stage 2 evolution in Chandelure, which is from this same set.  Make sure to check below for the Free Pokemon TCG Online Codes!

Litwick -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Litwick Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Litwick from the Guardians Rising set.  Litwick is a Basic, Fire type Pokemon card with a HP of 50.  It has a x2 weakness to Water type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Litwick does not have an Ability and it only has one move.  The only move on this card is called Flickering Flames, for one Fire Energy card this move does 10 damage plus puts the defending Pokemon to Sleep.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Litwick is a Basic Pokemon card with a Stage 1 evolution in Lampent, and a Stage 2 evolution in Chandelure, which I'll be reviewing the next couple of days, you'll more than likely want to use some of those Pokemon with this card, however, since I have not reviewed any of those cards yet, I will just act like Litwick does not have any evolution forms and that it will be used on its own.  On its own, if you can increase the HP of Litwick or can get it in the Active Pokemon spot to start the game, this is a solid card overall since it can attack for only one Energy card, and potentially give you extra time to set up your Bench Pokemon while the defending Pokemon is Asleep.  However, if you're looking to use this card without doing either of those two things, I would pass on this card, since it is limited by having only one move and has a below average HP for a Basic Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a below average Basic Pokemon card from the Guardians Rising set.  Like I stated above, the main thing holding this card down is its low HP, other than that, this card has a good move and low retreat cost, so while I wouldn't recommend using many of these in a deck, it does make a good start to the line if you're planning on evolving Litwick into Lampent, or need time at the beginning of the game to set up your Bench Pokemon.

Victini -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Victini Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Victini from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Set.  Victini is a Basic, Fire type Pokemon card with a HP of 70.  Victini has a x2 weakness to Water type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Victini's Ability is called Victory Star, it says that after you flip any coins for an attack, you may ignore all results of those coin flips and begin flipping those coins again.  Besides the Ability, Victini has one move called V-Flame, for two Energy cards, one each of Fire and Colorless, this move does 50 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Victini is a Basic Pokemon card with no evolution forms, you'll only have to use this card in a deck if you want to use Victini.  So knowing this, if you generally play at least one Trick Coin Trainer in your deck, this card is an improvement on that Trainer, since Victini can be used solely on the Bench and any Pokemon in play can use its Ability.  Really, if you have any Pokemon that do attacks based on coin flips, I would highly recommend using at least one of these Victini card in the deck.  Besides its Ability, V-Flame does do a good amount of damage, and could be used throughout the game in the Active Pokemon spot.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 5 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion this is an excellent Basic Pokemon card from the Guardians Rising set.  Like I mentioned above, this card is a suitable replacement for the Trick Coin Trainer, and is even an improvement on that card.  If you have any Pokemon that have attacks based on coin flips, definitely include Victini in your deck.  Plus, 50 damage for two Energy cards is well above average damage, so it is just a great card overall.

Golisopod -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Golisopod Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Golisopod from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Set.  Golisopod is a Stage 1, Grass type Pokemon card, with a HP of 130. It has a x2 weakness to Fire type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Armor is the name of Golisopod's Ability, it says that Golisopod takes 30 less damage from attacks.  Besides the Ability, Golisopod has just one move called Resolute Claws, for three Energy cards, one Grass and two Colorless, this move does 80 damage, plus if your opponent's Active Pokemon is a Pokemon GX or EX, this attack does 70 more damage, for a total of 150 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Golisopod is a Stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Wimpod into play (I reviewed Wimpod from this set yesterday) and then evolve Wimpod into Golisopod.  If you read yesterday's review of Wimpod, you'll know that I thought it was an average Basic Pokemon card overall, it had an above average HP, and two moves, one that could do damage and the other that allowed you to retreat Wimpod back into your hand.  Knowing this about Wimpod and looking at this Golisopod card, this is a perfect card to just keep on the bench, using a 1-1 line of this Pokemon family, and only using it when your opponent puts a GX or EX card into the Active Pokemon spot, no only will Golisopod have a good HP, since its Ability makes it even higher, but it can do 150 damage per turn.  Even without facing a card like this, 80 damage for three Energy cards is very good, and as long as you can set this line up on the Bench, I would definitely recommend using this line.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an above average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Guardians Rising set.  Other than requiring three Energy cards to attack, I really like how this card specifically goes after GX and EX cards, therefore giving you a better chance at getting two prize cards instead of one after defeating that type of Pokemon.  Together with Wimpod from this set, I would give the two cards a 4 out of 5 rating, if you're building a Grass type deck, I would definitely look closely at this line for your deck.

Wimpod -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Wimpod Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Wimpod from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Set.  Wimpod is a Basic, Grass type Pokemon card with a HP of 70.  It has a x2 weakness to Fire type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Wimpod does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Scamper Away, for one Colorless Energy card this move allows you to shuffle Wimpod and all cards attached to it back into your deck.  Wimpod's second move is called Ram, for one Grass Energy card this move does 10 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Wimpod is a Basic Pokemon card with a Stage 1 evolution in Golisopod, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution.  So, on its own, I do like that this card has an above average HP and two moves, one doing damage and the other allowing you to put Wimpod back into your deck, therefore freeing up Energy cards and getting rid of damage.  However, later in games, this card would be knocked out fast and early in games, with a high retreat cost, you're always going to want to use Scamper Away instead of retreating.  Overall, this is a solid, but certainly not above average Basic Pokemon card, that could be used as a starter type Pokemon in a deck to start the game, then sent back into your deck for the remainder of the game.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Golisopod, this is an average Basic Pokemon card overall.  Although this card is very similar to Phantump from this set, which I gave a 2 out of 5 rating, because this card has a move that returns it back into your hand, I am giving this card a little better rating.  All in all, this card could certainly be used in a Grass type deck, but there are better cards out there to use.
