Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Salazzle from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Set. Salazzle is a Stage 1, Fire type Pokemon card, with a HP of 110. It has a x2 weakness to Water type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one Colorless Energy card retreat cost. Hot Poison is the name of Salazzle's Ability, it says that when you play Salazzle from your hand to evolve one of your Pokemon, you may Burn and Poison the defending Pokemon. Besides the Ability, this card has just one move called Flamethrower, for three Energy cards, one Fire and two Colorless, this move does 90 damage, however you must discard an Energy card from Salazzle after using.
Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Salazzle is a Stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Salandit into play (I reviewed Salandit from this set yesterday) and then evolve Salandit into Salazzle. If you read yesterday's review of Salandit, you'll know that I thought it was an average Basic Pokemon card overall, it had an above average HP, and two moves, one that could attack for one Energy card, and another that could do up to 60 damage per turn for only one Double Colorless Energy card. So knowing this about Salandit and looking at this Salazzle card, you can still certainly use Salandit as a starter type Pokemon in a Fire type deck. Ideally, the best way to use this line would be to use multiple Salandit cards and a Double Colorless Energy, that way you could return Salazzle to your hand every other turn therefore Poisoning the defending Pokemon and doing 60 damage per turn for only one Energy card. Also, if you're using a Burning Energy card with Salazzle, you can use Flamethrower every single turn without having to actually discard an Energy card.
Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating. In my opinion, this is an above average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Guardians Rising set. Other than only having one move which requires three Energy cards, this card has an above average HP, a great Ability if you're able to return Salazzle back to your hand, and a great move that does 90 damage a turn every single turn. Together with Salandit from this set, I would give these two cards a 4 out of 5 rating, if you're building a Fire type deck, I would take a close look at these two cards.
