Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Yveltal from the Steam Siege Pokemon Card Set. Yveltal is a basic, darkness type Pokemon card with a HP of 130, a x2 weakness to lightning type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to fighting type Pokemon, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost. Yveltal does not have an Ability but it does have two moves. The first move that this card has is called Oblivion Wing, for one darkness energy card this move does 30 damage, in addition to the damage, this move also lets you move a darkness energy card from your discard pile and attach it to one of your benched Pokemon. Yveltal's second move is called Darkness Blade, for three energy cards, two darkness and one colorless, this move does 100 damage, however, if you get a tails when flipping a coin, Darkness Blade can not be used the next turn.
Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Yveltal is a basic Pokemon with no evolution forms, you only have to use this Pokemon in your deck if you want to use this card. With that being said, this card does have a BREAK evolution which I'll be reviewing tomorrow that you may want to use with this card. On its own, Yveltal could be a dominant starter type Pokemon in a darkness type deck since it can attack for only one energy card, or it could be set up on the bench and be used as a one hit knockout attacker late in the game with the use of Darkness Blade and a Trick Coin trainer to give you a better chance at being able to use this move every turn. This card can also be used in a deck that requires attacking Pokemon to discard energy when attacking, you could use those Pokemon first, then retreat them, and use Oblivion Wing to get cards re-attached to them. So overall, if you're building a darkness type deck, I would highly recommend taking a strong look at this card.
Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating. In my opinion this is an above average Basic Pokemon card from the Steam Siege set. If you're building a darkness type deck, this is a card you'll definitely want to use, this card has a well above average HP, and two great moves. So look no further than this Yveltal card if you're looking for a strong darkness type Pokemon card to use in your deck.
