Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Nuzleaf from the BREAKpoint Pokemon Card set. Nuzleaf is a stage 1, darkness type Pokemon card, with an hp of 80. It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to psychic type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost. Nuzleaf does not have an Ability, but it does have two moves. The first move that this card has is called Corkscrew Punch and for one darkness energy card this move does 20 damage. Razor Wind is Nuzleaf's second move, and for two colorless energy cards this move can do 40 damage if you get a heads when flipping a coin, otherwise the move does nothing.
Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Nuzleaf is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Seedot into play (I reviewed Seedot from this set a couple of weeks ago) and then evolve Seedot into Nuzleaf. Nuzleaf does have a Stage 2 evolution in Shiftry, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, that you'll probably want to use with this Pokemon line but since I haven't reviewed that card yet, the strategy below will act like Nuzleaf is the final evolution in this line. So if you read my review of Seedot, which was a grass type Pokemon, you'll know I thought that card was a below average Basic Pokemon, it could attack quickly, doing 10 damage, but was limited in what it could do having only one move and it also had a lower HP. So knowing this about Seedot and looking at this Nuzleaf card, this card is very similar, having a lower HP, and two decent moves, both quick on the attack, but neither doing enough damage to warrant use of this card in a deck. So I wouldn't play either Seedot or Nuzleaf in a deck without using Shiftry. Of course, if you get Nuzleaf into the active Pokemon spot, I would recommend using Corkscrew Punch every turn, unless you can attach a Trick Coin trainer to this card thus giving you two shots at doing 40 damage with Razor Wind.
Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating. In my opinion this is a below average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the BREAKpoint set. I do like that this card has two moves, both quick on the attack, however, this card can't do major damage every single turn, and add a low HP into the mix, and this is a card that shouldn't be used in a deck. So far, I am not impressed with this line, together I would give Seedot and Nuzleaf from this set a 1 out of 5 rating. Both received 2 ratings individually.
