Machamp -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Machamp Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Machamp from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Set.  Machamp is a Stage 2, Fighting type Pokemon card, with a HP of 160.  It has a x2 weakness to Psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a three Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  This card does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move on this card is called Settle the Score, for two Fighting Energy cards, this move does 20 damage plus 80 more damage for each Prize card your opponent took on their last turn.  Submission is this card's second move, for three Fighting Energy cards this move does 150 damage, however it also does 30 damage to Machamp.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Machamp is a Stage 2 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Machop into play and then evolve it into Machoke before you can evolve Machoke into Machamp, both of those Pokemon are from this set and I've reviewed both of them the last two days.  If you've read my reviews of those cards you'll know that I thought both cards were average overall.  I liked Machop as a starter type Pokemon for a Fighting type deck since it could do 50 damage for only two Energy cards, but it was limited in having just one move, and having a HP of 60.  I also though Machoke from this set was average overall, but I really liked the Ability on that card which made it so none of your Benched Pokemon could be attacked by your opponent, essentially preventing a spread attack type deck from doing anything at all.  So knowing this about the first two Pokemon in this line and looking at this Machamp card, I would only recommend using this card if you're using Machoke from this set for its Ability.  You could therefore keep Machoke on the Bench, utilizing its Ability, then if for some strange reason you get two of your Pokemon knocked out at once, or you want an easier way to knock out your opponent's Active Pokemon, you could move Machoke into the Active Pokemon spot, evolve it, and then use Machamp's Settle the Score move.  Other than that, Submission does do major damage, but you'll either have to use a lot of Potion cards, of have another way of consistently removing damage from Machamp when attacking.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an average Stage 2 Pokemon card from the Guardians Rising set.  Although this card does have potentially to do major damage every single turn, I'm still only giving this card an average rating overall, mainly due to the fact it inflicts damage on itself when attacking, plus its first move, Settle the Score only works in certainly situations.  But like I mentioned above, overall all three cards in this set are average, so the three cards get a 3 out of 5 rating combined from me.

Machoke -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Machoke Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Machoke from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card set.  Machoke is a Stage 1, Fighting type Pokemon card, with a HP of 100.  It has a x2 weakness to Psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a three Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Machoke's Ability is called Daunting Pose and prevents all damage done to your Benched Pokemon by your opponent's attacks and Abilities.  Besides the Ability, Machoke just has one move called Cross Chop, for two Fighting Energy cards this move does 30 damage plus 30 more damage if you get a heads when flipping a coin.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Machoke is a Stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Machop into play (I reviewed Machop from this set yesterday) and then evolve Machop into Machoke.  Machop does have a Stage 2 evolution in Machamp, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, that you'll probably want to use with this Pokemon line but since I haven't reviewed that card yet, the strategy below will act like Machoke is the final evolution in this line.  So if you read my review of Machop, you'll know that I thought it was an average Basic Pokemon card overall.  It had a powerful move for a Basic Pokemon, being able to do 50 damage for only two Energy cards, plus it had a solid HP.  But the card was limited overall with only one move and a higher retreat cost.  So knowing this and looking at this Machoke card, I would either recommend using Machop as a starter type Pokemon for your deck without Machoke, or, to use the line solely for Machoke's Ability.  You can just keep Machoke on the Bench and prevent your opponent from doing any damage to your Benched Pokemon.  Essentially, its Ability will prevent all spread damage from happening.  Besides its Ability, Cross Chop does less damage than Machop can do, so that is why I wouldn't put it in the Active Pokemon spot if I didn't have to.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  Despite having a move that does less damage than its Basic evolution form, in my opinion this is still an average Stage 1 Pokemon card overall.  Like I mentioned above, this card's Ability is excellent and can easily be utilized from the Bench the entire game.  Combined with Machop from this set, which I also gave a 3 out of 5 rating, both cards get a 3 out of 5 rating from me.

Tomorrow's Pokemon Card:

Machop -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Machop Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Machop from the Guardians Rising set.  Machop is a Basic, Fighting type Pokemon card with a HP of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to Psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Machop does not have an Ability and it only has one move.  Its only move is called Dynamic Chop, for two Energy cards, one each of Fighting and Colorless, this move does 50 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Machop is a Basic Pokemon card with a Stage 1 evolution in Machoke, and a Stage 2 evolution in Machamp, which I'll be reviewing the next couple of days, you'll more than likely want to use some of those Pokemon with this card, however, since I have not reviewed any of those cards yet, I will just act like Machop does not have any evolution forms and that it will be used on its own.  On its own, if you're looking for a good amount of power from a Basic Pokemon in a Fighting type deck, this card is certainly recommended.  Being able to do 50 damage for two Energy cards is quite good.  With a solid HP and such a powerful move, this card makes a good starter type Pokemon for a deck.  However, later in games this card is limited in what it can do, and a 60 HP won't last long.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average Basic Pokemon card from the Guardians Rising set.  This card is very solid overall, with a powerful attack, and a solid HP.  But because this card's only move does require two Energy cards, and its retreat cost also requires two Energy cards, this card is average at best, but it is certainly worth a look when deck building.

Tomorrow's Pokemon Card:
So thanks for reading today's Pokemon card review of Machop from the Guardians Rising Pokemon card set, stay tuned for tomorrow's card review of Machop's Stage 1 evolution in Machoke, which is also from this same set.  Make sure to check below for the Free Pokemon TCG Online Codes!

Lunala -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Lunala Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Lunala from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Set.  Lunala is a Stage 2, Psychic type Pokemon card, with a HP of 160.  It has a x2 weakness to Darkness type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to Fighting type Pokemon, and a two Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  This card does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move on this card is called Shatter Shot, for one Psychic Energy card this move does 40 damage times the amount of Psychic Energy cards attached to this card.  Lunala's second move is called Wings of the Moone, for three Psychic Energy cards this move does 130 damage, however after using this move, you must move all Energy attached to Lunala to your Benched Pokemon in any way that you'd like.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Lunala is a Stage 2 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Cosmog and Cosmoem into play.  Neither of those Pokemon are in the Guardians Rising set, but I have reviewed both of those cards in the Sun & Moon Base Set.  Taking a look at this Lunala card on its own, since it is a Stage 2 Pokemon card, therefore slow to set up, if you want to use this card in a deck, use only a 1-1-1 line of this family.  You could just keep attaching Energy cards to Lunala on the Bench, and therefore doing massive damage every turn with Shatter Shot, then when Lunala is close to getting knocked out, either switch it with a Trainer for free, or use Wings of the Moone first and let it get knocked out or retreat it the next turn.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is a below average Stage 2 Pokemon card from the Guardians Rising set.  Although this card has the potential to do a major amount of damage every single turn, because it is so slow on the attack I would say it is below average overall.  Plus if you're using Cosmog and Cosmoem in your deck, both GX cards, Solgaleo and Lunala from the Sun & Moon Base Set would be better cards to use than this one.

Tomorrow's Pokemon Card:
So thanks for reading today's Pokemon card review of Lunala from the Guardians Rising set, stay tuned for tomorrow's card review of Machop, which is from this same set.  Make sure to check below for the Free Pokemon TCG Online Codes!

Tapu Lele GX -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Tapu Lele GX Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Tapu Lele GX from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Set.  Tapu Lele GX is a Basic, Psychic type Pokemon card, with a HP of 170.  This card does not have a weakness or a resistance type, and it has a one Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Tapu Lele GX's Ability is called Wonder Tag, it says that when you play Tapu Lele from your hand to your Bench, you may search your deck for a Supporter card and put it into your hand.  Besides the Ability, this card has one regular move and one GX move.  Its first move is called Energy Drive, for two Colorless Energy cards this move does 20 damage times the number of Energy attached to both Active Pokemon.  The GX move on this card is called Tapu Cure GX, for one Psychic Energy card, this move allows you to heal all damage from 2 of your Benched Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, first off, the way a Pokemon GX works is that it is used instead of a regular Tapu Lele card, so you do not need to first play Tapu Lele and then evolve it into Tapu Lele GX.  In play, only one GX move can be used during the entire game, and once a Pokemon GX is knocked out, two prize cards are taken instead of one.  So knowing how a GX card works, this is one of the best Pokemon GX out right now.  The main reason this card is in such high demand is because of its Ability, allowing you to get specific Supporter cards into your hand very quickly.  Including multiple Tapu Lele GX cards in your deck makes it that much easier to get Supporter cards into your hand.  Besides the Ability, both its regular move and its GX move are also pretty great.  Energy Drive can do a minimum of 40 damage per turn, and will more than likely do significantly more damage with the Energy attached to your opponent's Active Pokemon.  Plus, if you use Tapu Lele GX solely on the Bench until the end of the game, you can get tons of damage on two of your Pokemon, retreat them both, use Tapu Lele's GX move while in the Active Pokemon spot and remove all damage from those two Pokemon.  Many decks are being built around Tapu Lele GX, so it is definitely one worth taking a look at.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 5 out of 5 rating.  Just knowing that this card is the most valuable GX in Guardians Rising gives a great idea on how good it is.  Altogether, there isn't a much better GX card out there, it is similar to how good Shaymin EX from Roaring Skies was.  This card has a great Ability and two great moves.  Definitely think long and hard about building a deck with Tapu Lele GX.

Dhelmise -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Dhelmise Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Dhelmise from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Set.  Dhelmise is a Basic, Psychic type Pokemon card with a HP of 120.  Dhelmise has a x2 weakness to Darkness type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to Fighting type Pokemon, and a two Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Dhelmise's Ability is called Steelworker and says that your Metal type Pokemon in play do 10 more damage to your opponent's Active Pokemon.  Besides the Ability, Dhelmise just has one move called Anchor Shot, for three Energy cards, one Psychic and two Colorless, this move does 70 damage, plus it makes your opponent's Active Pokemon unable to retreat during your opponent's next turn.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Dhelmise is a Basic Pokemon card with no evolution forms, you'll only have to use this card in a deck if you want to use Dhelmise.  So knowing this, if you're building a Psychic and Metal type deck, this card should definitely be included in it since you can both use it from your Bench to increase your Metal type Pokemon's attacks and in the Active Pokemon spot, doing 70 damage per turn for three Energy cards.  Even if you're only using Metal type Pokemon in your deck, I would still recommend keeping at least one of this card in your deck and using its Steelworker Ability from your Bench.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  So, in my opinion, this is an above average Basic Pokemon card from the Guardians Rising set.  Like I mentioned above, if using this card in a Metal type deck, it is a great card since it can help your entire deck, and you don't even have to move it into the Active Pokemon spot.  Besides its great Ability, this card's one move does above average damage, you just have to wait awhile until it can attack since it is slower.

Mimikyu -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Mimikyu Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Mimikyu from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Set.  Mimikyu is a Basic, Psychic type Pokemon card with a HP of 70.  Mimikyu has a x2 weakness to Psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Mimikyu does not have an Ability, but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Filch, for one Colorless Energy card this move allows you to draw 2 cards.  Mimikyu's second move is called Copycat, for two Energy cards, one each of Psychic and Colorless, this move copies the move your opponent used during their last turn, as long as that move isn't a GX move.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Mimikyu is a Basic Pokemon card with no evolution forms, you'll only have to use this card in a deck if you want to use Mimikyu.  So knowing this, this card would work well early in games with its Filch moves, it will allow you to get more cards into your hand, thus giving you a better chance at getting cards you need in play quicker.  Copycat is also a good move, although one that can't do damage on its own.  You could always keep this on the Bench too, and if the defending Pokemon has a powerful attack on it, that does less than 70 damage, you could use that move on the attacking Pokemon with Copycat.  Overall, there really isn't anything special about this card, but it should be considered when building a Psychic type deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  So, in my opinion, this is an average Basic Pokemon card from the Guardians Rising set.  Other than not being able to do damage on its own when attacking, this card is still a solid Basic Pokemon card overall.  With an above average HP, a low retreat cost, and two moves, this card is worth considering when deck building, plus its Filch move can replace the need for a Trainer card that helps draw cards.

Toxapex GX -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Toxapex GX Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Toxapex GX from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Set.  Toxapex GX is a Stage 1, Psychic type Pokemon card, with a HP of 210.  It has a x2 weakness to Psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a three Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Toxapex GX does not have an Ability but it does have three moves.  Its first move is called Spike Cannon, for one Psychic Energy card this move does 30 damage times the number of heads you get when you flip 4 coins.  Super Intense Poison is the name of the second move on this card, for three Psychic Energy cards this move Poisons the defending Pokemon, but instead of putting 1 damage counter on that Pokemon between turns, you can put 10 damage counters, doing 100 damage.  The GX move on this card is called Total Shelter GX, for three Psychic Energy cards this move does 150 damage, plus it prevents all effects of attacks, including damage, done to Toxapex GX during your opponent's next turn.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, first off, the way a Pokemon GX works is that it is used instead of a regular Toxapex card, so you do not need to first play Toxapex and then evolve it into Toxapex GX, instead you can evolve Mareanie directly into Toxapex GX.  In play, only one GX move can be used during the entire game, and once a Pokemon GX is knocked out, two prize cards are taken instead of one.  If you read my review of Mareanie from this set, you'll know that I thought it was an average Basic Pokemon card overall.  It had a solid move and two moves that both required one Energy card each, so it could be used as a starter type Pokemon in a deck.  Knowing this about Mareanie and looking at this Toxapex GX card, unless you're using 4 Trick Coin Trainer cards in your deck, I would pass on using this card for Spike Cannon and would also pass on using Mareanie as a starter type Pokemon.  Instead, you should use this card for its Super Intense Poison move, you could potentially knock out very powerful Pokemon in 1 to 2 turns with that move, plus, you could use the move once, retreat Toxapex GX and use another Pokemon to attack with.  Although Total Shelter does do a good amount of damage, it isn't that powerful that I'd want to use a GX move on it.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an average GX Pokemon card overall.  Although I really like the idea of doing 100 damage a turn when Poisoned with Super Intense Poison, this card's GX move and third move aren't above average, making this card just average overall.  Together with Mareanie from this set, which I gave a 3 out of 5 rating, I would give these cards a 3 out of 5 rating together.

Oricorio #56/145 -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Oricorio Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Oricorio from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Set.  Oricorio is a Basic, Psychic type Pokemon card with a HP of 90.  Oricorio has a x2 weakness to Darkness type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to Fighting type Pokemon, and a one Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  This Oricorio card does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move on this card is called Supernatural Dance, for one Colorless Energy card, this move allows you to put 1 damage counter on any of your opponent's Pokemon for each Pokemon in your opponent's discard pile.  Oricorio's second move is called Revelation Dance, for one Colorless Energy card this move does 30 damage, however, if there is not a Stadium card in play, this move does nothing.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Oricorio is a Basic Pokemon card with no evolution forms, you'll only have to use this card in a deck if you want to use Oricorio.  So knowing this, the Supernatural Dance move on this card can be very powerful.  Pair this card up with a Pokemon that can discard cards from your opponent's hand or deck, or a Trainer that does the same, and this move has the potential to do major damage, plus you can spread that damage around.  If you're using a Stadium card in your deck, Revelation Dance would make Oricorio a solid starter type Pokemon as well.  So although this card can't do that much by itself, combined with the right types of cards and this card is pretty good.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion this is an above average Basic Pokemon card from the Guardians Rising set.  Like I mentioned above, other than the fact this card can't do much without a way to discard cards of your opponent's and Stadium cards, this card is still above average overall, with a great HP and two moves that make this card a powerful starter type Pokemon and a good card for a spread attack deck, this is one that should be considered when deck building.

Oricorio #55/145 -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Oricorio Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Oricorio from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Set.  Oricorio is a Basic, Psychic type Pokemon card with a HP of 90.  Oricorio has a x2 weakness to Psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  This Oricorio card does have an Ability, it is called Vital Dance and says that when you play this card from your hand to your Bench, you may search your discard pile for up to 2 Basic Energy cards and put them into your hand.  Besides the Ability, this card has one move called Casual Slap, for two Energy cards, one each of Psychic and Colorless, this move does 30 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Oricorio is a Basic Pokemon card with no evolution forms, you'll only have to use this card in a deck if you want to use Oricorio.  So knowing this, if several of your Pokemon in play discard Energy cards when attacking, this card is a very useful one to have in your deck, since you don't even have to put it into the Active Pokemon spot to get some Energy cards back into your hand.  Plus, if you're able to move this card back into your hand and re-use its Ability, the card is even better.  Other than that, although this card only has one move, it does a fair amount of damage, plus it has a low retreat cost, so it wouldn't be miserable to use as a starter type Pokemon in a Psychic type deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion this is an average Basic Pokemon card from the Guardians Rising set.  Like I mentioned above, if you need a way to retrieve Energy cards from your discard pile, this card is one you should use.  Other than its Ability, which is above average, its only move does average damage overall, and it is limited in that it only has the one move.  So while this card won't be a staple in all decks, it is worth consideration when deck building.

Gothitelle -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Gothitelle Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Gothitelle from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Set.  Gothitelle is a Stage 2, Psychic type Pokemon card, with a HP of 140.  It has a x2 weakness to Psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  This card does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move on this card is called Tractorbeam, for one Psychic Energy card, this move allows you to switch your opponent's Active Pokemon with one of their Benched Pokemon, and do 30 damage to their new Active Pokemon.  Link Blast is the name of Gothitelle's second move, for two Energy cards, one each of Psychic and Colorless, this move does 50 damage plus, if your Active Pokemon and your opponent's Active Pokemon have the same amount of Energy on them, the move does 80 more damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Gothitelle is a Stage 2 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Gothita into play and then evolve it into Gothorita before you can evolve Gothorita into Gothitelle, both of those Pokemon are from this set and I've reviewed both of them the last two days.  If you've read my reviews of those cards you'll know that I thought both cards were average to below average overall.  I liked how both cards from this set could attack quickly, and I liked how Gothita could attack any Pokemon in play.  The main problem with both cards in this line so far is that they just couldn't do that much damage.  This trend continues with Gothitelle, unless you can match the amount of Energy cards when attacking with Link Blast and therefore being able to do 130 damage per turn.  If you're going to use this line in a deck at all, I would use it in a spread attack type deck, you could then use Gothita as a starter type Pokemon, or set up this line on the Bench, first using a card that can do 10 or 20 damage to all of your opponent's Benched Pokemon, then you could move in Gothitelle and use Tractorbeam to knock out a Pokemon each turn of your opponent's.  Ideally, you could switch in a Pokemon with Tractorbeam that has similar Energy to Gothitelle, but since your opponent has another turn before you can attack again, the chances of them keeping the same amount of Energy on their Active Pokemon is slim.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an average Stage 2 Pokemon card from the Guardians Rising set.  Other than having a somewhat low HP for a Stage 2 Pokemon, and the fact that it is slow to set up, since it is a Stage 2 Pokemon, this card is average overall and could easily be used in a spread attack type deck.  Once set up, this card is quick on the attack, can spread damage around and can do up to 130 damage per turn.  Altogether, the line of Gothita, Gothorita, and Gothitelle gets a 3 out of 5 rating from me, it is worth considering when deck building.

Gothorita -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Gothorita Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Gothorita from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card set.  Gothorita is a Stage 1, Psychic type Pokemon card, with a HP of 80.  It has a x2 weakness to Psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Gothorita does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move on this card is called Slap, for one Psychic Energy card this move does 20 damage.  Psybeam is this card's second move, for two Energy cards, one each of Psychic and Colorless, this move does 30 damage and it confuses the defending Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Gothorita is a Stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Gothita into play (I reviewed Gothita from this set yesterday) and then evolve Gothita into Gothorita.  Gothita does have a Stage 2 evolution in Gothitelle, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, that you'll probably want to use with this Pokemon line but since I haven't reviewed that card yet, the strategy below will act like Gothorita is the final evolution in this line.  So if you read my review of Gothita, you'll know that I thought it was an average Basic Pokemon card overall, it had a solid HP, low retreat cost, and one move that can do 10 damage to any of your opponent's Pokemon, the only problem with this card is that it is limited in only having one move, so later in games it isn't that good.  So knowing this about Gothita and looking at this Gothorita card, if you're using Gothita as a starter type Pokemon, you could easily evolve it and do more damage quickly with this card, up to 30 damage per turn plus you can Confuse the defending Pokemon.  Neither move on this card is that great though, and with only 80 HP, it may be best to either use Gothita on its own, or use the entire line.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is a below average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Guardians Rising set.  Although this card does have two decent moves, because it has a low HP and can only do 30 damage per turn, it is slightly below average overall, especially as a Stage 1 Pokemon.  Combined with Gothita from this set, I would give the two cards a 2 out of 5 rating, both are solid overall, but neither are spectacular.

Gothita -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Gothita Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Gothita from the Guardians Rising set.  Gothita a Basic, Psychic type Pokemon card with a HP of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to Psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Gothita does not have an Ability and it only has one move.  Its only move is called Blown Kiss, for one Psychic Energy card this move allows you to put 1 damage counter on one of your opponent's Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Gothita is a Basic Pokemon card with a Stage 1 evolution in Gothorita, and a Stage 2 evolution in Gothitelle, which I'll be reviewing the next couple of days, you'll more than likely want to use some of those Pokemon with this card, however, since I have not reviewed any of those cards yet, I will just act like Gothita does not have any evolution forms and that it will be used on its own.  On its own, this card could certainly be used as a starter type Pokemon, in both a Psychic type deck and a spread attack type deck. You could get this card into the Active Pokemon spot to start the game and then either attack the defending Pokemon or one of your opponent's Benched Pokemon for only one Energy card.  This is a great start to the Gothitelle line, but if you want to use this card on its own, it could be used solo too.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average Basic Pokemon card from the Guardians Rising set.  Other than being limited by only having one move and only being able to do a maximum of 10 damage per turn, this card is very solid.  It has an average HP, low retreat cost, and I like the fact it can attack very quickly, and do damage to any of your opponent's Pokemon.  This card will make a solid starter type Pokemon in a Psychic or spread attack type deck.

Tomorrow's Pokemon Card:

Garbodor -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Garbodor Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Garbodor from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Set.  Garbodor is a Stage 1, Psychic type Pokemon card, with a HP of 120. It has a x2 weakness to Psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a three Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Garbodor does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move on this card is called Trashalanche, for one Psychic Energy card this move does 20 damage times the number of Item cards in your opponent's discard pile.  Acid Spray is the name of this card's second move, for three Energy cards, one Psychic and two Colorless, this move does 70 damage, plus, you're able to discard an Energy attached to your opponent's Active Pokemon if you get a heads when flipping a coin.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Garbodor is a Stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Trubbish into play (I reviewed Trubbish from this set yesterday) and then evolve Trubbish into Garbodor.  If you read yesterday's review of Trubbish, you'll know that I thought it was a below average Basic Pokemon card overall.  The card did have a solid HP and two moves, but it also had a high retreat cost, was under-powered when trying to damage when attacking, and was slow on the attack to do damage.  If paired with Garbodor from this set, its Stomp Off move could help since it may discard an Item card from your opponent's deck, giving Garbodor more power with Trashalanche.  The best strategy with this Pokemon line would be to evolve the line on the Bench and wait for your opponent to discard Item cards, most competitive decks in the TCG right now use tons of Item cards, so if you wait long enough, the only move you'll want to use on Garbodor is Trashalanche, it could easily do well over 100 damage for one Energy card.  Trainer cards like the Field Blower which allows you to discard up to 2 Item cards in play, also helps Garbodor's move.  I would not recommend using Garbodor for its Acid Spray move, although it does do above average damage, I would rather just use the one Energy on this card and potentially do more damage.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 5 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an excellent Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Guardians Rising set, and easily the best rare card in the set.  Because of how prevalent Item cards are in the current meta game, Garbodor is extremely powerful, plus it is quick on the attack.  Combined with Trubbish from this set, I would give the two cards a 4 out of 5 rating, if you play the TCG, definitely consider building a deck around this line.

Trubbish -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Trubbish Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Trubbish from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Set.  Trubbish is a Basic, Psychic type Pokemon card with a HP of 70.  It has a x2 weakness to Psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Trubbish does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move on this card is called Stomp Off, for one Psychic Energy card this move allows you to discard the top card of your opponent's deck.  Drool is this card's second move, for three Energy cards, one Psychic and two Colorless, this move does 30 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Trubbish is a Basic Pokemon card with a Stage 1 evolution in Garbodor, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution.  So, on its own, unless you think discarding a card from your opponent's deck each turn is going to be a winning strategy for you, I would either use this entire line together or leave out Trubbish from your deck.  Although this card does have two moves and an above average HP, Drool does well below average damage and this card has a higher retreat cost than the attack cost of its first move.  So although this card wouldn't be terrible to use on its own, I cannot recommend using it in a deck on its own.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Garbodor, this is a below average Basic Pokemon card overall.  This card does have a solid HP and two moves, however, neither move on this card is that great, and really it is a card that should be kept on the Bench while you're trying to get Garbodor into your hand.  So again, I do not recommend using this card on its own.

Tomorrow's Pokemon Card:

Slowbro -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Slowbro Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Slowbro from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Set.  Slowbro is a Stage 1, Psychic type Pokemon card, with a HP of 110. It has a x2 weakness to Psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a three Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Slowbro does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move on this card is called Amnesia, for one Colorless Energy card this move does 20 damage, plus it makes your opponent's Active Pokemon unable to use one of their moves during their next turn, the move is of your choosing.  Facade is the name of the second move on this card, for three Energy cards, one Psychic and two Colorless, this move does 50 damage plus 80 more damage if the defending Pokemon is either Burned or Poisoned.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Slowbro is a Stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Slowpoke into play (I reviewed Slowpoke from this set yesterday) and then evolve Slowpoke into Slowbro.  If you read yesterday's review of Slowpoke, you'll know that I thought it was a below average Basic Pokemon card overall.  Although it could do damage when attacking for only one Energy card, its second move was underwhelming, and with a high retreat cost, it couldn't be used as a starter type Pokemon.  Knowing this about Slowpoke, and also knowing Slowking is available in the Burning Shadows set, this card is similar to Slowpoke in that it has two moves, but a very high retreat cost, so if you do use this line in a deck, you're going to want to figure out a way to retreat these Pokemon for free, with either a Trainer or Ability.  Potentially, you could keep Slowbro set up on the Bench, then switch it into the Active Pokemon spot to prevent a powerful Pokemon's attack, like a GX move, or a move on an EX card, other than that, you could switch it back and forth with a card that Burns or Poisons the defending Pokemon so you could do 130 damage a turn every turn with Facade.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average Stage 1 Pokemon card overall.  Other than having a high HP, this card is average overall.  It does have an above average HP, and two decent moves, one that is more defensive, in Amnesia, and one that can do major damage in Facade.  Together with Slowpoke from this set, I would give the two cards a 3 out of 5 rating, as long as you can retreat these cards for free, they are worth considering when deck building.

Slowpoke -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Slowpoke Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Slowpoke from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Set.  Slowpoke is a Basic, Psychic type Pokemon card with a HP of 70.  It has a x2 weakness to Psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a three Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Slowpoke does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Headbutt, for one Colorless Energy card this move does 10 damage.  Whimsy Tackle is the name of Slowpoke's second move, for three Energy cards, one Psychic and two Colorless, this move does 60 damage, however, you must flip a coin when using this move, if you get a tails, the move does nothing.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Slowpoke is a Basic Pokemon card with two Stage 1 evolution forms in Slowbro and Slowking, you'll more than likely want to use Slowpoke with one or both of these Pokemon.  Slowking is in the Burning Shadows set but there is a Slowbro in Guardians Rising which I'll be reviewing tomorrow.  Taking a look at this Slowking card on its own, it could be used as a starter type Pokemon since it has an above average HP and can attack and do damage for only one Colorless Energy card.  However, with such a high retreat cost, and a second move that is pretty much worthless, there are much better Basic Pokemon to use out there in a Psychic type deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Slowbro or Slowking, this is a below average Basic Pokemon card.  This card does have a good HP and can attack quickly, but Whimsy Tackle requires too many Energy cards to use and is based off of a coin flip, and with a high retreat cost, it doesn't make for a very good starter type Pokemon.

Tapu Koko GX -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Tapu Koko GX Guardians Rising
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Tapu Koko GX from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Set.  Tapu Koko GX is a Basic, Lightning type Pokemon card, with a HP of 170.  This card does not have a weakness or a resistance type, and it has a two Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Tapu Koko GX's Ability is called Aero Trail, it says that when you move this card from your hand to your Bench, you may move any amount of Lightning type Energy cards from your other Pokemon to Tapu Koko GX, if you do this, you have to switch Tapu Koko GX with your Active Pokemon.  Besides the Ability, this card has one regular move and one GX move.  This card's regular move is called Sky-High Claws, for three Energy cards, two Lightning and one Colorless, this move does 130 damage.  Tapu Thunder GX is the name of this card's GX move, for three Energy cards, two Lightning and one Colorless, this move does 50 damage times the number of Energy cards attached to all of your opponent's Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, first off, the way a Pokemon GX works is that it is used instead of a regular Tapu Koko card, so you do not need to first play Tapu Koko and then evolve it into Tapu Koko GX.  In play, only one GX move can be used during the entire game, and once a Pokemon GX is knocked out, two prize cards are taken instead of one.  So knowing how a GX card works, this is a pretty great one to use in a Lightning type deck.  Ideally, you would keep this card in your hand until you want to use it in the Active Pokemon spot, you would then utilize its Ability, getting three Energy cards on it right away and putting it in the Active Pokemon spot, therefore allowing you to either do 130 damage with Sky-High Claws, or potentially limitless damage with Tapu Thunder GX.  I would definitely use this card for its GX move, you should easily be to able to knock out the defending Pokemon with its GX move, I think it is worth using just the once in a game.  So, if you're looking for some major power in your deck, plus a speedy card to set up, I would highly recommend this card.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an above average Pokemon GX from the Guardians Rising set.  Other than having a little lower HP than other GX cards this card is pretty good.  Although it can't be used as a starter type Pokemon, with its Ability, especially later in games, this card can become pretty dominant and I would definitely consider using this card in a deck.

Oricorio #46/145 -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Oricorio Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Oricorio from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Set.  Oricorio is a Basic, Lightning type Pokemon card with a HP of 90.  Oricorio has a x2 weakness to Fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to Metal type Pokemon, and a one Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Oricorio does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  Feather Dance is the first move that this card has, for one Lightning Energy card this move makes Oricorio's Pom-Pom Punch move have a base damage of 100 instead of 20.  The aforementioned second move is called Pom-Pom Punch, for one Lightning Energy card this move does 20 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Oricorio is a Basic Pokemon card with no evolution forms, you'll only have to use this card in a deck if you want to use Oricorio.  So knowing this, if you're building a Lightning type deck and are looking for a starter type Pokemon to use for your deck, I would highly recommend using this card.  Not only does it do above average damage with Pom-Pom Punch, doing 20 damage per turn for only one Energy card, but if you use Feather Dance first, you can do 60 damage per turn on average or 120 damage every other turn, which should knock out a majority of Basic Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 5 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion this is an excellent Basic Pokemon card from the Guardians Rising set.  Similar to the first Oricorio card that I reviewed from this set, this card is a great card overall, with no downsides, it has an above average HP, and two great moves.  There aren't many non Pokemon EX or Pokemon GX Pokemon that can do 120 damage for only one Energy card.  So, if you're building a Lightning type deck, I would certainly consider using up to 4 of these cards.

Vikavolt GX -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Vikavolt GX Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Vikavolt GX from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Set.  Vikavolt GX is a Stage 2, Lightning type Pokemon card, with a HP of 240.  It has a x2 weakness to Fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to Metal type Pokemon, and a one Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Vikavolt does not have an Ability, but it has two regular moves and one GX move.  The first move on this card is called Charge Beam, for one Lightning Energy card this move does 50 damage, plus it allows you to attach an Energy card from your discard pile to Vikavolt GX.  Super Zap Cannon is the second move on this card, for four Energy cards, one Lightning and three Colorless, this move does 180 damage, however you must discard 2 Energy from Vikavolt GX after using this move.  The GX move on this card is called Gigatron GX, for four Energy cards, one Lightning and three Colorless, this move does 60 damage to each of your opponent's Benched Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, first off, the way a Pokemon GX works is that it is used instead of a regular Vikavolt card, so if you have Charjabug in play, you evolve that Pokemon directly into Vikavolt GX.  In play, only one GX move can be used during the entire game, and once a Pokemon GX is knocked out, two prize cards are taken instead of one.  Since Vikavolt GX is a Stage 2 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Grubbin into play and then evolve it into Charjabug before you can evolve Charjabug into Vikavolt GX, both of those Pokemon are from the Sun & Moon Base Set and I've reviewed those cards previously on my blog.  Looking at this GX card by itself, if you're building a spread attack type deck, you could considering using this GX card in your deck to use its Gigatron GX to potentially knock out multiple Benched Pokemon at once.  Other than its GX move, this card is really too slow on the attack and consistently needs Energy attached to it to be too useful in a deck.  If this card was a Basic evolution it would be much better, but when you combine the need for at least 4 Energy cards to consistently do a good amount of damage and the fact you need to evolve twice to get to this card, I would probably look elsewhere.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an average Pokemon GX card from the Guardians Rising set.  This card certainly can do some major damage when attacking, but like I mentioned above, because this is a Stage 2 GX card, two of its moves requires 4 Energy cards when attacking, and one of its moves discards Energy cards each use, although this card is powerful, there are better GX cards to use out there, but again, this card is definitely good for a spread attack type deck.

Heliolisk -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Heliolisk Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Heliolisk from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Set.  Heliolisk is a Stage 1, Lightning type Pokemon card, with a HP of 100. It has a x2 weakness to Fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to Metal type Pokemon, and a one Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Heliolisk does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move on this card is called Quick Attack, for one Colorless Energy card this move does 20 damage plus 20 more damage if you get a heads when flipping a coin.  Raging Thunder is the name of the second move on this card, for three Energy cards, one Lightning and two Colorless, this move does 120 damage, however the move also does 30 damage to one of your Benched Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Heliolisk is a Stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Helioptile into play (I reviewed Helioptile from this set yesterday) and then evolve Helioptile into Heliolisk.  If you read yesterday's review of Helioptile, you'll know that I thought it was an average Basic Pokemon card overall.  Other than being limited by having only one move, the card was solid overall, with an average HP, low retreat cost, and one move that could do damage and inflict a Special Condition.  So knowing this about Helioptile and looking at this Heliolisk card, you could certainly use a 1-1 line of this family, using Helioptile as a starter type Pokemon, then evolving it as soon as possible to do up to 40 damage a turn with Quick Attack.  Raging Thunder is probably a move that I would set up on the Bench, and also make sure to have a Pokemon on your Bench that either has a really high HP, has an Ability to remove damage, or does more damage with more damage on itself, that way you could utilize this move multiple times without harming your own Pokemon too much.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average Stage 1 Pokemon card overall.  This card really doesn't have any negatives, since it has a high HP, low retreat cost, and two moves, one that attacks quickly and the other that is a little slower but can do major damage.  I would recommend using this line in a Lightning type deck, especially if you can pawn off 30 damage a turn on one of your Benched Pokemon without doing too much harm to it.  Together with Helioptile from this set, which I gave a 3 out of 5 rating, these two cards get a 3 out of 5 rating combined.

Helioptile -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Helioptile Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Helioptile from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Set.  Helioptile is a Basic, Lightning type Pokemon card with a HP of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to Fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to Metal type Pokemon, and a one Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Helioptile does not have an Ability and it only has one move.  The only move on this card is called Thunder Shock, for one Lightning Energy card this move does 10 damage, plus, if you get a heads when flipping a coin, the defending Pokemon is Paralyzed.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Helioptile is a Basic Pokemon card with a Stage 1 evolution in Heliolisk, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution.  So, on its own, this card could be used as a starter type Pokemon in a Lightning type deck since it can attack for only one Energy card and it can prevent your opponent from attacking, therefore giving you more time to set up your Benched Pokemon.  Unfortunately this card is very limited, so it won't work well later in games.  Because of this fact, I could see maybe using 1 or 2 of these cards in a deck on their own without Heliolisk.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Heliolisk, this is an average Basic Pokemon card overall.  Other than being limited by having just one move, this card is very average overall, with a solid HP, low retreat cost, and a quick move that also inflicts a Special Condition.  Although this card won't change any games, it is a decent one to consider when deck building.

Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Alolan Golem from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Set.  Alolan Golem is a Stage 2, Lightning type Pokemon card, with a HP of 160.  It has a x2 weakness to Fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to Metal type Pokemon, and a four Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  This card does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move on this card is called Electromagnetic Rock Wrecker, for three Energy cards, one Lightning and two Colorless, this move does 80 damage times the number of heads you get when you flip a coin for each Lightning type Energy card attached to Alolan Golem.  This card's second move is called Heavy Slam, for four Energy cards, one Lightning and three Colorless, this move does 200 damage minus 30 damage for each Colorless Energy in your opponent's Active Pokemon's retreat cost.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Alolan Golem is a Stage 2 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Alolan Geodude into play and then evolve it into Alolan Graveler before you can evolve Alolan Graveler into Alolan Golem, both of those Pokemon are from this set and I've reviewed both of them the last two days.  If you've read my reviews of those cards you'll know that I thought both cards were below average overall.  Both cards had solid HP and a couple of moves each, but neither card was worth using, both were slow on the attack when attacking for damage, and neither card had a move that could consistently do above average damage.  This Alolan Golem card is similar to the first two Pokemon in this line, this card has an above average HP and two moves, with some potential to do major damage, but no path to consistently doing a good amount of damage.  Possibly, if you're using 4 Trick Coin Trainer cards in your deck, you could use a 1-1-1 line of this Pokemon family and have a shot at doing 200+ damage with Electromagnetic Rock Wrecker, but I think I would pass entirely on this line.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is a below average Stage 2 Pokemon card from the Guardians Rising set.  Like I mentioned above, this card does have a good HP and two moves that have potential to do major damage, but with a high retreat cost, and both moves not guaranteed to do major damage, I would pass on this line altogether.  Overall, I can't give this card anything higher than a 2 out of 5 rating.

Alolan Graveler -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Alolan Graveler Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Alolan Graveler from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card set.  Alolan Graveler is a Stage 1, Lightning type Pokemon card, with a HP of 110.  It has a x2 weakness to Fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to Metal type Pokemon, and a four Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Alolan Graveler does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move on this card is called Thunder Punch, for three Energy cards, one Lightning and two Colorless, this move does 50 damage plus 20 more damage if you get a heads when flipping a coin, but if you get a tails when flipping a coin, Alolan Graveler does 20 damage to itself.  This card's second move is called Electrobullet, for four Energy cards, three Lightning and one Colorless, this move does 80 damage, plus it does 20 damage to one of your opponent's Benched Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Alolan Graveler is a Stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Alolan Geodude into play (I reviewed Alolan Geodude from this set yesterday) and then evolve Alolan Geodude into Alolan Graveler.  Alolan Geodude does have a Stage 2 evolution in Alolan Golem, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, that you'll probably want to use with this Pokemon line but since I haven't reviewed that card yet, the strategy below will act like Alolan Graveler is the final evolution in this line.  So if you read my review of Alolan Geodude, you'll know that I thought it was a well below average Basic Pokemon card overall.  Although it had a solid HP and two moves, neither move was very good and it was very slow to do damage when attacking.  Knowing this about Geodude and looking at this card, the only reason to use this line in a deck is if you're building a spread attack type deck and have plenty of time to set up your Benched Pokemon.  If this is the case for your deck, you could put four Energy cards on Alolan Graveler on the Bench and when in the Active Pokemon spot use Electrobullet every turn.  Thunder Punch on this card does below average damage normally and can even damage Graveler, so it isn't worth using.  Plus, like I mentioned, unless you're building a very specific deck, I would not recommend using this card or line in a deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is a below average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Guardians Rising set.  Although this card has a great HP and two moves that both do damage, I am still giving this card a below average rating, it is too slow on the attack, has a high retreat cost, and just isn't worth using in a deck without Alolan Golem.  Together with Alolan Geodude from this set, I would give these two cards a 1 out of 5 rating, I would pass on them.

Alolan Geodude -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Alolan Geodude Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Alolan Geodude from the Guardians Rising set.  Alolan Geodude a Basic, Lightning type Pokemon card with a HP of 70.  It has a x2 weakness to Fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to Metal type Pokemon, and a two Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Alolan Geodude does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move on this card is called Rock Polish, this move makes it so Alolan Geodude has a free retreat cost during its next turn, this move also requires no Energy cards.  This card's second move is called Rollout, for three Energy cards, one Lightning and two Colorless, this move does 40 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Alolan Geodude is a Basic Pokemon card with a Stage 1 evolution in Alolan Graveler, and a Stage 2 evolution in Alolan Golem, which I'll be reviewing the next couple of days, you'll more than likely want to use some of those Pokemon with this card, however, since I have not reviewed any of those cards yet, I will just act like Alolan Geodude does not have any evolution forms and that it will be used on its own.  On its own, this is a poor card to use, since its only move that can do damage requires three Energy cards, and even if you put three Energy cards on this card, 40 damage for three Energy cards is pretty bad.  Also, this card's Rock Polish move doesn't make much sense if you're using this card on its own, as there is no need to use this card in a deck at all if you just plan on retreating it to your Bench.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 1 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a below average Basic Pokemon card from the Guardians Rising set.  Like I stated above, although this card does have an above average HP and two moves, it is still very poor overall.  It is slow on the attack, when doing damage is the objective, plus it has a high retreat cost.  This is a card better suited for the Bench, where you can then evolve it there.
