Toxapex GX -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Toxapex GX Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Toxapex GX from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Set.  Toxapex GX is a Stage 1, Psychic type Pokemon card, with a HP of 210.  It has a x2 weakness to Psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a three Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Toxapex GX does not have an Ability but it does have three moves.  Its first move is called Spike Cannon, for one Psychic Energy card this move does 30 damage times the number of heads you get when you flip 4 coins.  Super Intense Poison is the name of the second move on this card, for three Psychic Energy cards this move Poisons the defending Pokemon, but instead of putting 1 damage counter on that Pokemon between turns, you can put 10 damage counters, doing 100 damage.  The GX move on this card is called Total Shelter GX, for three Psychic Energy cards this move does 150 damage, plus it prevents all effects of attacks, including damage, done to Toxapex GX during your opponent's next turn.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, first off, the way a Pokemon GX works is that it is used instead of a regular Toxapex card, so you do not need to first play Toxapex and then evolve it into Toxapex GX, instead you can evolve Mareanie directly into Toxapex GX.  In play, only one GX move can be used during the entire game, and once a Pokemon GX is knocked out, two prize cards are taken instead of one.  If you read my review of Mareanie from this set, you'll know that I thought it was an average Basic Pokemon card overall.  It had a solid move and two moves that both required one Energy card each, so it could be used as a starter type Pokemon in a deck.  Knowing this about Mareanie and looking at this Toxapex GX card, unless you're using 4 Trick Coin Trainer cards in your deck, I would pass on using this card for Spike Cannon and would also pass on using Mareanie as a starter type Pokemon.  Instead, you should use this card for its Super Intense Poison move, you could potentially knock out very powerful Pokemon in 1 to 2 turns with that move, plus, you could use the move once, retreat Toxapex GX and use another Pokemon to attack with.  Although Total Shelter does do a good amount of damage, it isn't that powerful that I'd want to use a GX move on it.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an average GX Pokemon card overall.  Although I really like the idea of doing 100 damage a turn when Poisoned with Super Intense Poison, this card's GX move and third move aren't above average, making this card just average overall.  Together with Mareanie from this set, which I gave a 3 out of 5 rating, I would give these cards a 3 out of 5 rating together.
