Haxorus -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Haxorus from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Set.  Haxorus is a stage 2, dragon type Pokemon card, with an hp of 160.  It has a x2 weakness to fairy type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a three colorless energy card retreat cost.  Haxorus does not have an Ability but it does have three moves.  The first move that this card has is called Dragon Dance and for one colorless energy card this move increases Haxorus' attacks by 100 damage, you can't add more than 100 damage using this move.  Besides this move, both of Haxorus' other moves do damage.  Sharp Fang does 60 damage for one colorless energy card and Dragon Pulse does 130 damage for two energy cards, one each of fighting and metal, however you must discard three cards from the top of your deck when using.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Haxorus is a stage 2 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Axew into play and then evolve it into Fraxure before you can evolve Fraxure into Haxorus, both of those Pokemon are from this set and I've reviewed all three of the cards for those Pokemon in the last few days.  If you've read my reviews of those cards you'll know that I thought both Axew cards and the Fraxure card from this set were below average, the biggest knock on any of those cards is that they took a fair amount of time to attack and they required distinct types of energy to attack, meaning if you weren't specifically building a fighting and metal type deck, it would be hard to use those cards.  So knowing this about the first two Pokemon in this line and looking at this Haxorus, if you're building a fighting and metal type deck, this is probably going to be your featured Pokemon, you'll want to set this line up on the bench, then when in the active Pokemon spot, use Dragon Dance first to increase Haxorus' moves by 100, then use whichever move will knock out the defending Pokemon in one turn, I would rather use Dragon Dance first then Sharp Fang instead of just using Dragon Pulse right away, because having to discard 3 cards from your deck is quite a bit.  Regardless, this is a very powerful card, and one that can be a centerpiece of a deck, with one hit KO ability.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 5 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an extremely powerful Stage 2 Pokemon card from the BREAKthrough set and one that should be used if building a fighting and metal type deck.  This card can essentially do 230 damage a turn every turn after using Dragon Dance, which should knock out almost all Pokemon out there in one turn.  With that being said, I can only give this line a 4 out of 5 rating overall, because Axew and Fraxure from this set just aren't that great.

Fraxure -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Fraxure from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card set.  Fraxure is a stage 1, dragon type Pokemon card, with an hp of 80.  It has a x2 weakness to fairy type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Fraxure does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Sharp Fang, for one colorless energy card this move does 20 damage.  Fraxure's second move is called Dragon Slayer and for three energy cards, one each of colorless, fighting, and metal, this move does 60 damage plus 40 more damage if the defending Pokemon is a dragon type Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Fraxure is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Axew into play (I reviewed both Axew cards from this set the past two days) and then evolve Axew into Fraxure.  Fraxure does have a Stage 2 evolution in Haxorus, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, that you'll probably want to use with this Pokemon line but since I haven't reviewed that card yet, the strategy below will act like Fraxure is the final evolution in this line.  So if you read my review of the Axew cards from this set, you'll know that I thought both were slightly below average Basic Pokemon cards.  Both cards had average HP, and could attack for one energy card, but outside of the first move, the only other move both cards had was a move that required three distinct energy card types and did well below average damage.  So if you plan on quickly evolving Axew once in the active Pokemon spot, it would make more sense to use yesterday's card since it could do 20 damage a turn for one energy card.  So knowing this about Axew from this set and looking at Fraxure, it may be worth using a 1-1 line of Axew and Fraxure in your deck, if number one you're building a split type deck of metal and fighting, and number two you think you'll be facing a lot of dragon type Pokemon.  That way, you can set up Fraxure on the bench and when your opponent puts a dragon type Pokemon in the active Pokemon spot you can use Fraxure against it and do 100 damage a turn with Dragon Slayer.  I cannot highly recommend this card however because it does have a below average HP and it requires different energy card types when attacking.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is a below average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the BREAKthrough set.  Similar to both Axew cards from this set, this card has a decent move set, but with a low HP and the fact it requires different energy types, this card is very restricted in its use, so like I said above, unless you're specifically building a fighting and metal type deck, look elsewhere for a Pokemon card to use.  Altogether, I would give the Axew cards and the Fraxure card from this set a 2 out of 5 rating.

Haxorus -- Plasma Blast Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Haxorus from the Plasma Blast Pokemon Card Set.  Haxorus is a stage 2, dragon type Pokemon card, with an hp of 140.  It has a x2 weakness to dragon type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Haxorus does not have an Ability, but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Dragonaxe, for one metal energy card, this move does 40 damage times the amount of metal energy attached to this card.  Haxorus's second move is called Strike of the Champion, for two energy cards, one each of fighting and metal, this move knocks out the defending Pokemon if it is a Team Plasma type Pokemon, otherwise the move does nothing.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Haxorus is a stage 2 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Axew into play and then evolve it into Fraxure before you can evolve Fraxure into Haxorus, both of those Pokemon are from this set and I've reviewed both of them the last couple of days.  Both of the Pokemon in this line that I've reviewed have been below average cards, which would be closer to average if they didn't require such a strange combination of energy types to attack, so if this card is pretty good, those two Pokemon, Axew and Fraxure, will actually be better than I originally rated them.  So after summarizing this Haxorus card in the overview section of this post, I would definitely recommend building a fighting and metal dual type deck around this line.  I would include a 4-3-3 or 3-2-2 line of Axew, Fraxure, and Haxorus, and this Pokemon family would be the main Pokemon family used in the deck.  I would make sure to use multiple Haxorus cards in the deck so you could stock up one Haxorus card on your bench with metal energy cards and have another Haxorus card ready so if the defending Pokemon is a Team Plasma Pokemon you can move it into the active Pokemon spot and use Strike of the Champion and knock it out.  This Haxorus card is very fast and can do major damage, I would recommend putting up to four energy cards, all metal of course, on Haxorus so you can do 160 damage per turn with Dragonaxe and knock out most Pokemon in one move.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 5 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this an amazingly good stage 2 Pokemon card from the Plasma Blast set and a card you'll definitely want to consider building a deck around.  This is the kind of stage 2 Pokemon card I really like, one that can easily knock out almost all Pokemon, and a card that is quick on the attack.  Even though I'm giving this card a perfect rating, I wish the hp would be a little higher, but if you set this card up on the bench it shouldn't be too much of a problem.  Overall, the entire line of Axew, Fraxure, and Haxorus from this set, get a 4 out of 5 rating from me.  Even though I gave Axew and Fraxure 2 out of 5 ratings, since I would be using those cards with the Haxorus card, I think the overall rating should be much higher than a 2.

Haxorus -- Dark Explorers Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Haxorus from the Dark Explorers Pokemon Card Set.  This is a stage 2, colorless type Pokemon card, with an hp of 140.  It does not have a weakness or resistance, but it does have a three colorless energy card retreat cost.  Haxorus doesn't have an Ability but it does have two moves, the first move is called Guillotine which takes three colorless energy cards and does 60 damage.  Haxorus's second move is called Stunning Uppercut which takes four colorless energy cards and does 80 damage, and if you get two heads when you flip two coins the defending Pokemon is paralyzed, but if you get two tails this move does nothing.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, you'll want to keep this card on your bench until you can get three or four energy cards on it, once you get the necessary energy cards on it, I would use Stunning Uppercut every turn unless you can knock out the defending Pokemon by doing 60 damage, then I would use Guillotine instead of Stunning Uppercut because Guillotine is a 100 percent chance of hitting whereas Stunning Uppercut has a 25 percent chance of not doing any damage at all.  If I were to use this card in my deck I would use a 3-2-1 line of Haxorus and its pre-Evolutions.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 1 out of 5 rating.  Even though Haxorus looks cool as a Pokemon (it looks eerily similar to Giratina in my opinion) this card really stinks, it doesn't have too high of an hp, and it has a very high retreat cost, it also is very slow and when you can actually attack it can't do much damage at all, I would never want to put four energy cards on a Pokemon then have a 25% chance of not being able to attack, it would be different if the move actually did a lot of damage but there are plenty of other Pokemon out there that can do 80 damage every turn for four energy cards where this one it is pretty risky.
