Galvantula -- Steam Siege Pokemon Card Review

Galvantula Steam Siege Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Galvantula from the Steam Siege Pokemon Card Set.  Galvantula is a stage 1, lightning and grass type Pokemon card, with an hp of 90. It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to metal type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Galvantula does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Double Thread, for one colorless energy card this move allows you to do 30 damage to 2 of your opponent's benched Pokemon.  Galvantula's second move is called Electroweb and for one lightning type energy card does 30 damage, and it makes the defending Pokemon unable to retreat during their next turn.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Galvantula is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Joltik into play (I reviewed Joltik from this set yesterday) and then evolve Joltik into Galvantula.  If you read yesterday's review of Joltik, you'll know that I thought it was not usable in the active Pokemon spot, mainly because of its extreme low HP, other than that, it had a free retreat cost and one move that required only one energy card to use.  So knowing you can't use Joltik in the active Pokemon spot at all, Galvantula works well with that card, since if you have to start the game with Joltik, you can evolve it the second turn of the game and start attacking without adding energy to Galvantula.  I like Galvantula quite a bit and it would work well in a spread attack type deck since Double Thread does 60 total damage for only 1 energy card towards your opponent's benched Pokemon.  So if you're building a spread attack type deck, or just looking for a solid Stage 1 card to use, with quick attacks, I would recommend using a 1-1 line of this Pokemon family.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an above average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Steam Siege set.  In my mind, there really aren't any negatives with this card, only positives.  Outside of having just an average HP, this card has a low retreat cost, and two great moves, both quick on the attack and both doing above average damage.  So, together with Joltik from this set, I would give this line a 3 out of 5 rating, it should definitely be considered for decks.

Galvantula -- Phantom Forces Pokemon Card Review

Galvantula Phantom Forces Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Galvantula from the Phantom Forces Pokemon Card Set.  Galvantula is a stage 1, lightning type Pokemon card, with an hp of 80.  It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to metal type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Galvantula does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Cobweb Trip, for one lightning energy card this move allows you to move your opponent's active Pokemon to their bench and move one of their benched Pokemon into that spot, plus it confuses the newly active Pokemon.  Galvantula's second move is called Electroweb, this move requires three energy cards to use, two colorless and one lightning, and does 60 damage, plus your opponent can't retreat their active Pokemon during their next turn.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Galvantula is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Joltik into play (I reviewed Joltik from this set yesterday) and then evolve Joltik into Galvantula.  If you read yesterday's review of Joltik, you'll know that I thought that card was very poor, the main cause of this was because the card only had 30 HP, which made it pretty much unable to use in the active Pokemon spot because it would get knocked out right away.  So knowing this about Joltik and looking at this Galvantula card, if you want to use this Pokemon family in a deck, definitely don't use more than a 1-1 line because both Pokemon have extremely low HP.  I would recommend setting up this line on the bench and getting 3 energy cards onto Galvantula before putting it into the active Pokemon spot.  I would then use Cobweb Trip the first turn, moving one of your opponent's weaker Pokemon into the active Pokemon spot, then the next turn using Electroweb to hopefully knock that Pokemon out, I would continue with that strategy for as long as possible.  This Galvantula card may work well in a spread damage type deck as well because if the benched Pokemon have damage on them already, it will be that much easier to knock them out with Electroweb.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Phantom Forces set.  Besides having a lower HP, I like everything else on this card.  It has a low retreat cost, and two moves that work very well together.  If you are patient when playing the TCG, and can use Cobweb Trip one turn and Electroweb the next, this Galvantula card can be very good to you.  Overall, I would give Joltik and Galvantula from the Phantom Forces set a 2 out of 5 rating, individually I gave Joltik a 1 and Galvantula a 3.

Galvantula -- Plasma Storm Pokemon Card Review

Galvantula Plasma Storm Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Galvantula from the Plasma Storm Pokemon Card Set.  Galvantula is a stage 1, lightning type Pokemon card, with an hp of 80.  It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a free retreat cost.  Galvantula does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move this card has is called Discharge, this move requires one lightning energy card and does 30 damage times the number of lightning energy cards you discard from Galvantula when you discard all the lightning type energy cards attached to it.  Galvantula's second move is called Signal Beam, this move requires two colorless energy cards and does 30 damage, plus if you get a heads when you flip a coin this move also confuses the defending Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Galvantula is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Joltik into play (I reviewed Joltik from this set yesterday) and then evolve Joltik into Galvantula.  If you read yesterday's review, you'll know that I thought Joltik wasn't a great Pokemon card to put into the active Pokemon spot before it evolves so I would definitely recommend keeping Joltik on the bench, evolving it into Galvantula and then moving Galvantula into the active Pokemon spot at an opportune time.  One thing that is good about Galvantula is that if you have to put Joltik into the active Pokemon spot before you want to, you can quickly evolve Joltik into Galvantula and retreat it for free.  You'll more than likely want to use this Pokemon line in a lightning type deck but you could use Signal Beam in any deck.  I would use this card in a lightning type deck and use Signal Beam most turns until you need one last desperation move, then I would use Discharge and hopefully do at least 60 damage.  I wouldn't use this line in a deck, but if you choose to I wouldn't use more than a 1-1 line of Joltik and Galvantula.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is a below average stage 1 Pokemon card and a Pokemon line that I would probably leave out of a lightning type deck.  I say this because neither Galvantula nor Joltik have a very high hp, and even those this card has the potential to do a fair amount of damage, I wouldn't waste so many energy cards on a card that won't last long in play.  On this Galvantula card I do like that one of its moves requires colorless energy cards so it makes the card work well in dual type decks, but I don't like how Discharge discards all the lightning energy cards attached to this card.  So overall, I would have to give the Pokemon line of Joltik and Galvantula a 2 out of 5 rating, both cards from this set are below average cards.
